Growing up, I always went to this Whole Foods, mostly because this was the closest location to me at the time. It's a smaller Whole Foods but I have never had any issues with finding what I need. I love getting their bakery goods, such as their cakes! Cannot go wrong with any of their cakes to be honest & my favorite has to be the berry Chantilly cake. And actually, their coffee is quite good! My go-to has been the honey vanilla iced latte. Their hot foods section is tasty & great for quick lunch option... love their soups, especially their clam chowder. If you enjoy steak, you must try the steaks from Whole Foods! read more

I recently signed up for a trial period for Prime, and I saw I could order Whole Foods and get free delivery. So I placed an order for 1lb of Robusto cheese (the best thing ever), and a bunch of produce. So instead, I got half a pound of cheese and 2 bunches of radishes instead of 1. So I don't think I'll try that again. I didn't even order that many items - not sure how they messed it up so badly. read more

This Whole Foods seem a bit smaller than other ones I have been to, but still I was able to find some nice cheeses and pâté items for a picnic. They had great quality cheeses that ranged from soft to hard....basically anything I get at Whole Foods for any gathering has been a hit. Their cheeses and pâté were on the expensive side, but they were very competitive against a specialty Italian market for example. Also the selection they had was good and fresh. Things have changed at WF in Hingham since Bezos became owner. Produce has gone south and the meats are ok - I hope they are still humanely treated animals, though the price has skyrocketed. It's time for a new grocery store to accommodate us folks who like to support a business that provides quality food at moderate prices. New, expanded store in Hyannis reflects the general "dumbing down" and leveling of selection and quality since the Bezos/Amazon acquisition. Very few local products (including local produce in season), butcher department is literally "bare bones," few quality cheeses to choose from, and some products I've been buying for 30+ years at WFM all over Massachusetts are no longer carried. Very little surprise or delight at WFM these days overall, but this location is woefully understaffed and workers are under-trained. read more

I got SHARP cheddar cheese. First of all, it was not sharp. Second of all, the cheese had the consistency of literal chalk. Disgusting.

This store used to be excellent in many ways: friendly, knowledgeable staff, clean and well-stocked, good selection of high quality products but expensive. Many stores have recently closed and the staff has been reduced and not permitted to work OT in an effort to increase their bottom line. As a result, the story is dirty and disheveled, the hot salad bar looked old and picked over, the quality of the food has gone done... but the prices remain the same! I talked to staff and they said the staff has been reduced by 30% and no one is permitted to work OT hours, there is mot enough staff to male the prepared foods, the high quality of the foods is not there but the price is still very high. As a splurge, I used to get their homemade pepperoni pizza with the nitrate free pepperoni. The pizza doesn't even look the same. I feel bad as the staff is just burnt out from working so much and defeated. This seems to be the slow erosion of quality since the Amazon merger. read more

I mean, we're looking at a Whole Foods - medium in size, well-stocked for what's needed, in a center of Shoppes that permits ample (if poorly engineered) parking for all to enjoy. That said, I haven't stepped inside for some time - and the four easy stars comes from a single current truth: WF/Amazon know logistics, and THAT makes their free pickup for grocery orders $35+ (for Prime members) amongst the smoothest in execution. Produce especially rings lower than Stop & Shop or Shaw's - it's true! And the plus of WF (like Trader Joe's) lies in the standards held for its inventory: stuff is organic or at least preservative/heavy processing free. Placed my very first order, and left to pick it up 70 minutes later. Checked in on the app, and had my entire order loaded in to my trunk within 8-10 minutes. Definitely fast than I would have taken showing up, and persuing the aisles wondering if I could find a use for quinoa flour (spoiler: no, no I couldn't). read more

When I pointed out that he shouldn't put refrigerated food with hot items, his response was, "Leave me alone, I'm having a bad day!" What???? Usually pretty good parking. Vegetables and fruits can get sold out quickly especially on weekends but they restock fairly well. Most of the stocking employees are great. The drive up shoppers can nearly run you down with the carts as they rush through the orders though. Checkout lines are long on weekends. Self check moves fairly well though. They have a fairly good selection of healthy items here but many prices have gone $2-3 more in the past 6 months. Overall shop the sales for deals! One of the best options for healthy items around but can be pricey. read more

They get one star because the kid who brought out my Prime pick up order was very nice and the girl working the service desk was helpful in trying to explain how to request a refund. This was my first time trying Prime pick up as I'm high risk for Covid. It will 100% be my last. I had my reservations in trying pick up and sadly, my reservations were valid. 1 of 3 things happened here. 1) The shopper is young and clueless. 2) Whole Foods stock today is simply old and horrible. 3) My shopper didn't care, at all. Some examples. 1) My salmon is a tail portion. Most people do not want the tail portion as it doesn't cook the same, there's less meat etc..Count me with most people. But that's fine. I expected it. Not happy but it is what it is. 2) I ordered a 32oz bag of brussel sprouts. I got a 1lb bag but was charged for the 32oz, 2lb bag. Annoying, but it happens. What should never happen is..... 3) ROTTEN Produce. Come on now. This is just sad and so unnecessary. Is there no quality control here? Does your produce manager not have his or her employees occasionally checking this stuff? And what's wrong with the shopper for Prime? Seriously. Is it just pure laziness? Do they truly not care about their job, at all? Anyway, It's tough out here and your customers choose and trust you to provide at least basic quality products. Very Frustrating Return Policy that customers must have the receipt for any returns even if the food is bad or inferior. Who keeps the receipt for all their food purchases???  When I returned stale product, first their computer system was not working so we had to wait 15 minutes and then they had to check every date for a month for the initial purchase...seriously.?? The cookies were stale and expensive!  Why else would we bother trying to return them? It's really disappointing and frustrating to make the customer wait and then not be able to help them. I like Whole Foods.... don't love it, but like it. For certain things that is. I stopped at this location at the Derby Street Shoppes while shopping in the area just to pick up a few quick items. I don't ever do a large grocery shopping at Whole Foods since I never can get all of the brands I love and buying everything here would triple my cost. I also don't like how they really only care about Amazon Prime members, as I am not a Prime member (as I'm sure you can see for all my reviews, I GO to stores and buy things I don't shop online and wait for my items!), and think they should be more loyal to all customers rather than ones that choose to shop on Amazon. Regardless, this specific location is BUSY. Extremely busy. In comparison to my local Whole Foods in Dedham, it's smaller, more concise, but appears to have just as many customers. Parking is tough on weekends (as it is throughout this complex), and they don't seem to ever have many registers open throughout. They could definitely at least have a few more express registers open. Shelves seemed pretty well stocked, and the store was extremely organized. Solid 4 stars for this place. I would come back in the future, but not on the weekend when the place is jam packed and parking is no where to be found. read more

Avoid the food bar. No matter what day/time I attempt to buy from the food bar there is either nothing left/or the food options are slim to none. I am shocked that this Whole Foods is allowed to have such a horrible food bar as it is an easy $$$ maker. I never see any store members attempting to refill food trays. Even by Whole Foods standards, this place is a palace of joy and gastronomic extravagence. I love the Whole Foods on Beacon Hill and the one on River Street in Cambridge, but I'd trade both of them and my car in if the Hingham one somehow relocated to my block. The cheese section is vast and properly staffed, the prepared foods were excellent, and the granola bar was well-stocked. Yes, they have a granola bar. That is, a salad bar of granola, from which you can create a granola mix. Good heavens. There's also a wonderful bulk section, with various flours and spices that you can buy en masse. I'm not saying that you should drive out to Hingham for this, but.... oh who am I kidding, DRIVE OUT TO HINGHAM FOR THIS! read more

Hubby and I were trying to fight our way back into Boston after a weekend in Cape Cod when we got tired of the status quo of sitting on the freeway. So we fired up Waze who took us on a picturesque journey to bypass some of the traffic. While we were on this adventure, nature called and as it happened, we happened to be in this upscale neighborhood and we saw Whole Foods. Yes! We can also get a snack! (Even though breakfast was just 3 hours ago ha ha.) We pulled in, parked...and walked into the store. Sights and sounds were comfortingly familiar to us and I was able to quickly locate the restrooms which were actually amazingly fancy and clean. We ventured around for snacks - I ended up with some proscuitto, a hunka cheese and stuff from their hot food bar. Hubby went with some seafood chowder. We paid for our goods and headed to the seating area. Unfortunately, their utensil station wasn't very well stocked and they were completely out of forks. A lady went off to tell someone but it wasn't until we were leaving that we noticed someone restocking. I ended up eating my food with a spoon. Most of the people we encountered were friendly and helpful, some were more indifferent. But all in all, it was a good stop for both my pee break and snack break! read more

This is my first choice out of the Whole Foods within close proximity of each other. It is open an hour later (until 10pm) and in square footage is larger with a much larger selection on the majority of items in the store. What they noticeably have more of in comparison to the neighboring Weymouth store includes: produce; variety, type and where they come from; primarily locally grown as well as organic. I often find vegetables I've never seen or even heard of which is always a bonus! The flowers/floral dept is at least double the size with beautiful plants and arrangements premade. Their candy aisle has about a 1/3 to 1/2 more items, I think they could work on this with a larger variety and more local items, but they do have a by the pound section which is not in the same location (it's next to produce on an end cap across from seafood dept), this could absolutely be expanded upon as what they offer I feel does not ever get touched besides a handful of the bins, I have 2 favorites the sour gummy worms and gummy gators. Note that it is $10/lb which is kind of insane. Their ice cream section is definitely great and they have more dairy free options than any store I've been to but still wish they would expand upon this as it's the same few common commercial brands but I'm still grateful as I always have So Delicious Chocolate Chip (Gluten Free I Must Add) Cookie Dough in my freezer. More options are also in the meat department as well. And the staff is usually very friendly and accommodating. Due note that there is often a terrible smell at closing time near the bakery. I don't know exactly what it is, if it comes from the meat department or what, it is way worse than dirty mop, more like dirty dying mop. From what I hear other locations such as in the Metro West area are "better" but I'm grateful for this store close by. read more

This was my first time shopping at this store and I was pretty impressed. They had a nice bakery, lots of good meats, a great produce area. There was also plants and flowers in their floral department. They have a lot of natural products there including essential oils and bath and beauty products. They have several cosmetic brands to pick from including Burt's Bees and Pacifica Cosmetics. I ended up getting something from Pacifica cosmetics. They have a little area where you can try the products on before you buy which I like because sometimes I buy something and when I get it home the color doesn't work out for me. This way I know what I'm getting. I was getting hungry while I was shopping so I went ahead and got some stuff off their hot food bar and a little salad from their salad bar. They have a little area with tables and chairs at the front of the store where you can enjoy what you bought from their hot and cold bar. Which I was pretty happy about because I hate taking things home and having to heat them up. It's a nice sized location and they have everything. The workers who I dealt with there were all very nice. I will be coming back here. read more

The produce area is super clean, the cheese selection is vast, free samples abound, and the bakery is great. I did have an awakening when I was here last: the bulk area. It's like a bulk wall. Bulk Heaven. You can buy any of their loose grains, nuts, beans, granola, dried fruit, etc. in ANY quantity you want. Which is great for a lady like me who needed only a half a cup of wheat germ, 1 cup of whole wheat flour, and couldn't resist the organic raisins but didn't want to buy a whole ($6) box of them for my homemade protein bars. Oh, and it's all fairly priced (read: cheap for Whole Foods). I am so in love with this idea, those people are doing everything right. read more

Whole Foods Market - Bulk area at Hingham Whole Foods - Grocery Near Me - Hingham, Massachusetts

As far as Whole Foods locations go, this Hingham location is solid. So why the 3 stars? I'd heard about their new inventory system called order to shelf (OTS). The premise of OTS is to have less backup inventory which reduces waste, especially for perishable items. Tighter inventory management translating to less waste seems like a great idea, until it isn't. Why? Because the big risk is a shortage of product if there's an unforeseeable buying surge or a supply-chain problem. I used to go into Whole Foods and never see empty produce shelf space. But at this location, it's different. I went in to buy regular cucumbers (not organic ones), and there were literally two on the shelf. I went looking for regular ginger root and they had just several little nublets of ginger which kind of looked like detached knuckles instead of the big strapping and healthy-looking roots that we're all accustomed to. It could be a problem with their supply chain such as a drought somewhere that's putting the big hurt on them. But this is where the company can and should improve. If they're short on a product, why not post a brief explanation on the shelf where the product is being sold? This is done at far smaller produce places, so a mammoth company like Amazon should be on top of this. The other thing I worry about is that Whole Foods is going to try and replace quality items with significantly inferior ones which superficially appear similar but are cheaper. People shop at Whole Foods for better quality stuff. For example, one of my guilty pleasures used to be going to this Whole Foods location and getting a couple of mochi ice cream treats after a hard day. They used to get their mochi from a company called My Mochi. I know because I used to see them unpack it as they were stocking their display freezer. They tasted great and they made sense. The strawberry ice cream mochi looked pink on the outside and tasted like strawberry. The vanilla mochi was white, the green tea mochi was green, etc. What attracted me to these little dollops of delight was that you just had to wait a short while for them to melt a tiny bit, and then the mochi (the outer pounded glutinous rice covering) was wonderfully squishy and melted in your mouth when you bit into it and the ice cream center. It's been a couple of months since I last bought mochi there, and today I was shocked. The freezer case looked the same, but the mochi looked weird. Instead of looking like a little muffin, they looked flatter like a UFO. And the outside was oddly smooth. What also confused me was that the outside coloring of the mochi didn't match what each placard said. For example, I got the vanilla mochi (because that's been my favorite), and the outside was dark chocolate brown. I figured that even if they had screwed up and put the chocolate mochi in the vanilla mochi bin, then I'd be okay because I like chocolate as well. When I bit into it, the inside was vanilla ice cream. The dark chocolate-colored exterior had zero taste. So, why screw up a system that works by making a mochi look like chocolate but actually tastes like vanilla? Several of the other flavors also had this bizarre color scheme where the exterior was way off from what the actual listed flavor was. The ice cream in all three mochis I bought was good, but that's not why people buy these things. If I wanted great ice cream, I would have just gone to Nona's and bought a pint because it's a far better deal. People are willing to pay a premium for these things because they're a guilty pleasure. People want the mochi to be silky soft so that it melds effortlessly with the ice cream as the whole thing melts in your mouth. What they don't want is a mochi exterior that is hard and chewy. And I left these mochi out for about five minutes, so it wasn't a case of the mochi being frozen. Whichever company made these mochi designed the exterior to be harder and chewier than what My Mochi makes. It's awful. To be fair, I think that these new mochi are a bit less expensive, and that was the big thing that Amazon was pushing out to the media: that its acquisition of Whole Foods would result in substantially lower prices with no mention about potentially compromising on quality. And that might work with turkeys which they sold a record number of this past Thanksgiving because who really can tell a significant difference between their normal whole turkey and a cheaper one that they buy at a supermarket? But if you're going to sell a specialty product like mochi which is less expensive now but still costs $2.00 each for something that is about one mouthful, well, I'd rather pay $2.50 for something that tastes great than $2.00 for something where the main attraction ingredient (i.e. the mochi) is terrible. It's like watching a once great restaurant cheap out on ingredients and slide into mediocrity. read more

This store did not live up to my expectations. From the outside, given its size, I would have expected much larger produce, meat, and seafood departments. To their credit, these were still well-stocked at 8pm on a Saturday evening. The name of the game here is "excess." That includes a large number of specialty stations, which of course are designed for convenience at a price. And what a price - $6 for a package of Breyers? It certainly lives up to the "Whole Paycheck" concept in this store (and Breyers was the "cheap" brand). We had come to this store to pick up a pastry for a nearby party, in this case a pie. The selection is severely limited, at least for pies. For something like this in the future, I'll go back to Market Basket for variety and reasonable price. Our experience here met a new low with our cashier, Carly. She was the least friendly cashier I have ever met at a Whole Foods. The only reason she said "How's it going?" and "Have a good one." is because she's obligated to say things. I think you have to pay extra for eye contact and even more for a smile. Today I was super disappointed. I come to this Whole Foods got bar/prepared food section often either getting a salad or sandwich. The selection in the salad bar was poor, with no toasted veggies or even grains to put in a salad. Salads don't just contain lettuce anymore! I opted for a sandwich, which are usually really well prepared. In my avocado and turkey sandwich I can't even begin to explain the "avocado" in here. It was a messily 1 slice of the SIDE of the half of avocado and it wasn't even ripe. It was hard. That is perhaps 1/16 of the half avocado. Needless to say that was disappointing. I am a lifelong Whole Foods frequent and regular customer (~30 years). I was one of the first and few to start shopping when it started out as Bread & Circus. I stayed loyal in the early years when everyone around me hated shopping there because everything was so overpriced and buying organic hadn't become popular yet. When my career which required a lot of travel took me to other states, I continued to shop Whole Foods regularly. I have been in so many Whole Foods nationwide, I doubt anyone has seen as much as I have as the company evolved over the years. I was a regular shopper of this Hingham location ever since I relocated back to MA. Gave them a lot of my money over 1 year's time. I NEVER EVER once bothered them about anything until today. I remember seeing them give customers a hard time repeatedly at the customer service desk on multiple occasions but I didn't think much of it until now. Well today I asked for an exception to even exchange 2 brand new still sealed (tamper proof) soap for a difference fragrance of the same product with receipt from the last sale (I bought 7 of the pear fragrance and realized too late that I should have mixed it up by buying lavender too (will never make that mistake again! When you smell the same fragrance 24/7, you get tired and need to change it up). Oh they had me walking on coals over this one time ever favor that I asked because the item was no longer on sale and they wanted me to pay the difference (if I wanted to do that, I could have returned the 2 pear scents because I was still well within the return window and purchased 2 lavender versions at full price)! The first person treated me terribly (acted like she didn't understand anything I was asking and talked to me like a bad 5 year old when saying NO) and then got the manager. The manager and a 3rd employee lectured me sternly about what a terrible thing I was asking them to do and how it was against policy. I explained/complained to them that they should take my long history with Whole Foods into consideration and the fact that I have NEVER EVER bothered them before or asked for any exception. The manager on duty finally relented and made a one time exception and then scolded me some more that I better not do this again! WOW. Clearly they think customers are TOO STUPID to learn their lesson too and it must be reinforced and spelled out clearly for the nth time to someone like me who has many degrees including a doctorate from very prestigious universities, held many professional jobs at big name companies and is a well traveled old fart. I could understand if I was a chronic problematic customer and there's always some issue that I'm causing but being a first time offender at this location and having such a loyal lengthy history with Whole Foods, someone like me does NOT deserve to be treated like a pest. The Dedham Whole Foods is just as good if not better and larger. Prior to this incident, I had already observed the Dedham Whole Foods treat customers VERY WELL. The Dedham location is an extra 5-7 minute drive for me but I will be shopping PREDOMINATELY at Dedham from now on!!! Hingham has zero customer appreciation. Employees are rude to customers and treat customers like pesky dumb pests. Hingham Whole Foods has high foot traffic due to its nice shopping location surrounded by many other popular stores so their sales are good despite bad customer service. Therefore they don't need to be nice to customers. This was THE WORST customer service in the 50-100 Whole Foods stores I've frequented in the past 25-30 years. I actually had shopping but I wanted to leave that store fast so I cut my list down to 3 most wanted items totaling $38 (still way above value of the soap they gave me such grief over) which I loathed to give them. Clearly they have no need for a customer like me whose always buying all the expensive stuff no one will touch and helping them lighten the stock that's sits forever on the shelf. $20 honey or truffle oil? I'm the ridiculous person that buys it. I dearly miss my old Whole Foods in another state where I was a weekly/biweekly fixture for 6 years which had the best prepared food section among all Whole Foods I've ever visited (every state/location has differences and their pizza and soups were restaurant quality!). My old Whole Foods knew who I was and that I was a very profitable customer - the 1 or 2 times EVER that I had a favor to ask, they treated me exceeding well (above and beyond what I expected) because they knew who I was and that it's extremely rare or unheard of for me to bother them or ask for any exception. Any of you out there like me who likes to support businesses that treat customers well, please join me in shopping Dedham and Weymouth Whole Foods locations or any location except Hingham. Even Wegmans in Westwood treats customers very well and might I add has the best organic bread!!! read more

I was excited to hear that a Whole Foods location was finally opening on the South Shore. When the Hingham store opened it totally exceeded my expectations. The store is large and beautiful. You are greeted by the colorful produce selection and a flower stand as soon as you enter the door. You can find many unique produce items here that may not be carried at other area grocery stores and the quality is usually stellar, but the pricetag is often more expensive than what you would find at Shaws or Stop & Shop. The seafood & butcher departments offer top notch selection as well. The cheese department & bakery are some of the best in the area. They also offer a wide variety of ready-made foods that are great if you need to get dinner on the table in a hurry. The fresh sushi is great too. It is made right in the store. read more

Whole Foods is definitely not what it used to be. I am an Amazon Prime member so I like the specials such as half-price on Bell & Evans chickens or deals on produce. But there are so many lapses in quality that I'm spending less and less here, and I do a lot of cooking. Produce has become a crap shoot. This week I encountered moldy strawberries and grape tomatoes in every package I considered buying. Slots for some items had incorrect signage leading to disputes at checkout. Rotisserie chickens are a good buy if you want to pull apart the meat from the bones for a chicken salad, but otherwise the white meat is dry as sawdust and the wings are incinerated. My husband and I stopped here for a sirloin strip steak to grill at 6pm on 7/31. We like to share a thick 1 lb steak. The counter was manned by a clerk I'd never seen before, youngish guy wearing a beard net. As he began weighing steaks for us, we saw they were all too small, only 3/4 lb. We asked him to cut one for us. There used to be a sign "Any cut, any time." That's gone, and he told us "I'm just a clerk and all the meat cutters have gone for the day." My husband blew a gasket. "I thought this was Whole Foods. Get me the manager." And then a meat cutter suddenly appeared, showed us the strip he was planning to cut from, and asked me which end I'd prefer. We left with a beautifully marbled 1.1 lb 1-3/4" thick steak. Today I stopped in to tell this story to nice older lady at customer service, and to get a refund on the organic strawberries we'd bought that night which went fuzzy the next day. Sure the produce prices are lower, but so is the quality. The seafood and meat prices are still high except on specials, and the checkout clerks have developed amnesia about how to bag groceries sensibly. Seems the only people who do that well are at TJ's. I've been a Whole Foods customer since the time they were still Bread & Circus, before they had this store in Hingham and I had to shop in Brookline or Cambridge on the way home from work. It sure isn't what it used to be, and there's too much competition to tolerate sloppy inventory, indifferent service or high prices. Go for the bargains only and keep your receipt. Get a refund on anything that disappoints. read more

What is happening with this store? I stopped in tonight on my way home from work. There is NOTHING in this store. Scraps. No hot food bar. Pizza counter shut down. No explanation. And by the way, PLEASE get covers that fit the olive bar containers. When I asked three different employees. No one had any answers. That explains why there were no cars in the parking lot. The food bar is the worst I've ever seen at a whole foods and has been this way for a long time. We moved out of the area a few years ago just after the renovation to the food bar and it has been gross from the beginning. I just came back today and it was terrible. The salad bar lettuce was browning and wilted and the hot food was dry and unattended to. read more

This store is great. Produce / fruits always delivered fresh. Always consistent. I love their 365 brand as well.

Nice large store, much better tgan Hyannis store. Hot bar had 3 kinds of fish and two chicken dishes, but no beef at all. Over twice the salad options of other stores. "normal" foods were labeled "comfort food" lol. Sadly, processed canola oil was in most prepared dishes. Pretty clear this store caters to vegans, and has no clue what paleo means or sound metabolic diets which is sad because they ate based in unprocessed, natiral, whole foods. read more

I always shop at Whole Foods but usually in Dedham. Recently I found myself in Hingham and went to Whole Foods there. I had my infant in a carrier and some employee nearly plowed into us and never said sorry or let us pass, she just gave us a dirty look and kept going even faster. Not once did any staff member greet us or anything, even when I was trying to order pizza I was ignored until I spoke up to the lady working in that department. I also bought a small pre-made salad which had old tomatoes so I returned it. The guy working the service desk was talking to another employee about something not work related (she was on my side of the desk and off the clock) and gave me a look like I was about to bother him but didn't acknowledge me otherwise until he finished his conversation with the female co-worker. To top it off, the disgusting people who shop there made it unbearable. It's a bizarre collection of wanna-be socialites but unfortunately for them they live in Hingham and not Beverly Hills. For other readers this review is for Hingham only! I will never go there again unless desperate. Every other Whole Foods I have ever been to was wonderful. read more
