This marketplace has a wide array of delicious fresh foods, both prepared and ready for you to cook in your own home. First of all, they have a fabulous hot lunch bar that closes at 2 o'clock. I am always cognizant of when the clock will strike too because I always think if I wanna eat some food there I better get myself to Previte's Marketplace lickety split. The marketplace shares a building with a bakery that I will review separately. The marketplace and the bakery are separate businesses under separate ownership and management. There is a common area sort of like wide hallway in between the bakery and Previte's Marketplace with several tables at which patrons may sit and eat whatever they have purchased from either of these two businesses. As for Previte's Marketplace, there are typically lines of people waiting to get a fresh hot lunch that might include fresh, sliced turkey, meat, stuffing, mashed potatoes, delicious gravy, and more. over there right away. I'm focusing on this delicious Thanksgiving like spread that's available year-round because it's one of my absolute favorite things to eat at Previte's Marketplace. The marketplace has all different kinds of meat and other protein, including red meat, poultry, lamb,, pork, and veal and more. Proves marketplace has skilled butchers ready to cut the meat to your liking. Previte's Marketplace also has a multitude of prepared entrées ready for you to take home to serve to your family and friends or to bring to any social gathering. Such choices include cocktail, meatballs, and sauce, chicken, Parmesan, meat, and cheese, lasagna, and much more. They also have quiches and salads and more. Previte's Marketplace also has a full scale catering service that is available. Although I have not tried using their catering the service, I cannot imagine that the food would be any less wonderful at a catered affair than it is being carried out by oneself for lunch or dinner. By the way, there are a couple of tables just outside of the marketplace, but still inside the building in which Previte's Marketplace is housed. I frequently get my lunch there and of course, most often I get the turkey stuffing and mashed potato plate. By the way, they also make turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce submarine sandwiches. Absolutely delicious but very messy so get plenty of napkins! The only negative thing about this location is the actual location itself: it's on a very busy road with very limited parking, although there are some parking spots across the street. Great selection of prepped food. You can also check their daily specials on FB. The beef stew is out of this world! Every time I go in, I find more than I planned for or really need, but it seems like I really need- meals, meats, seafood, a decent grocery section and some specialty breads. The line for lunchtime sammies and specials can be a little daunting sometimes but the staff works to keep things moving along, getting food prepared and in the right waiting hands as quickly as possible. Speaking of the staff, in my experience they're helpful, professional and personable, without exception. This, the (original) Weymouth store is small but mighty! My imagination thought Previte's Marketplace was a large supermarket type place. Nope. It has a small footprint with a small parking lot off a rather busy street in Weymouth. They have some dry goods, some veggies, but their big thing seems to be the freezer in the corner, their raw meats, and the hot and cold food counter that caught my eye. They definitely have their fans, one of which took home their American Chop Suey and meatball sub, and was planning to drench it with more of their tasty sauce at home, that they already had from a previous visit. I went with their large Tom Turkey Sandwich for $10.95 (Thanksgiving sandwich) and paid at the register on the other side of the room. It was large indeed, and stuffed full. The only improvement would be if they'd have toasted the bread. Gotta remember to ask them to toast it before filling it, next time! read more

Grabbed a small corned beef that was absolutely loaded with meat, all at an excellent price. Pleasant and helpful service too. From now on when in the area, I will go nowhere else! read more

I live for small specialty markets like this! It's a one-stop-shop (deli, butcher shop, bakery, lobster pound, etc.) where everything is homemade... My go-to is the italian sub. It's overloaded with fresh ingredients on good bread (not flimsy/soggy) and the meat-to-bread ratio is on point. I also like to grab some of their marinated meats to throw on the grill at home. You really can't go wrong here as they have something for everyone! read more

This is an ok place. I got some nice fish casserole. Easy to make, because it had only fish, two shrimp, two scallops, butter and ritz cracker. it turned out ok, but was somewhat simple. the hotdogs that i picked up were good in that they had cheese sauce on them already, but when I checked the date i found that it was probably not cheese sauce but something else that appeared a week after the use by date. they cheerfully accepted them as a bad product, and I can only hope that they threw them out. came very recommended. it is at least bougie. I could imaging going back, but a bit ok really, not a bit great. Maybe I've not found what they are good at. read more

This place is phenomenal! I can't believe it took me this long to get here. Parking is little tough when it gets busy so maybe don't go right at lunchtime. When you walk in you can turn left for desserts or turn right for meat, cheese, fish, chicken, pork, a small amount of grocery items such as canned food and spaghetti. I was in heaven as I am a total carnivore. Employees were friendly especially the guy at the deli where I bought a delicious boneless Delmonico ribeye steak. Went directly home, marinated it and cooked it that night. Fantastic!! I also bought a block of Parmesan cheese. You can also order sandwiches here as there was a small line that seemed to be moving pretty quick. The prices are going to be higher than say Market Basket here but the quality, freshness of the ingredients along with friendly customer service makes this place shine! I peeked in the room to the left with all the goodies. Cakes, cookies, cupcakes, cannolis etc. everything looked incredible. I'll be back to buy from this side for special occasions or when I have a sweet tooth. Definitely a winner here!! read more

Have been a customer of Prevites for over 40 years. Have been eating their Italian subs for most of that time, shopped at Quincy, Weymouth and now Hanover. The problem is that occasionally when we order our subs the "toppings" are on the bottom of the sandwich. There is a reason that they are called toppings, they belong on the top of the sub. Have complained, have complained to the deli manager, the meat manager and the sandwich maker all to no avail. Unless requested, please make the sandwich the way it is meant to be, " with the toppings on top ". Hope someone reads this that can make it happen! read more

We have been going to Prevites since they were in Quincy. They always had excellent meat for good prices. The butchers are helpful with advice about different cuts of beef. This location is larger and nicer, there is a small seating area for customers of both Prevites' Marketplace and Fratellis' Bakery. We only got hot prepared food today. The eggplant rollatini was delicious; the thinly sliced eggplant was fried golden brown with crispy edges. The rollatini was overflowing with creamy ricotta filling. The mixed vegetables were cooked Al dente. I am not a fan of mushy veggies but that is a personal preference. The wait might seem long , but that is because the line is often out the door. My only complaint is there is not enough parking for such a popular spot. read more

I grew up on Northshore, never even heard of Previte's until my friend from Hanover brought their steak tips that he marinated himself to a cookout. Marinade (which was good) aside, quality wise, these were the best tips I've ever had and I grew up on Hilltop, Newbridge Cafe and Tommy Floramo's. They were so good all they need is salt and pepper. read more

Gorgeous store, beautiful meats, exquisite selection of cheeses, condiments and other food items, and conveniently located just a mile from my home in Hanover. Taking a star off because #1 their prices are high on branded items one can buy elsewhere and #2 they do not accept EBT cards. Too bad because every place else I shop does. I know they need to pay for that beautiful complex at the old Sylvester's site, but charging so much more for many items that one can purchase anywhere else is a turnoff. The EBT card costs them nothing and would result in more business. But not from me until they change policy. read more

I don't understand what the big deal is about or mark up as about. I went there to get a porterhouse, and they offered me porterhouse. Is that where already wrapped up with barely any fillet on the side. The steak tips looked OK but that's not what I went there for. There was a lot of people at the deli. But what is deli meat anyway, deli meat is deli meat is deli meat. The supply of poultry was normal, but nothing to brag about. I pre-ordered about 4.5 lbs of lamb for Easter. I went to pick it up today and noticed there was a line outside to get in. Not a problem at all, everyone was 6 feet apart. It was a little cold, but it is what it is. I understand space/customer limits to prevent transmission of COVID-19 so this doesn't factor into my review at all. I want to make that clear. I passed through the first set of doors, to where about 3-4 more customers were waiting to enter the actual marketplace. Again, no problems so I just messed around on my phone. Get to the front of the line, see a sign saying limited to 10 customers at a time, and I figured I'd wait until the next customer leaves. Not one, but 4, customers leave as a group. I'm not a mathematician, but if the store was at capacity, that'd mean there was a max of 6 more customers inside. I waited maybe 30 seconds before noticing that not only was nobody keeping track of in/outs, but there was nobody there to tell me when to come in. So, doing mental math that if they listened to their own 10 person rule, I'd be person #7 inside. I step inside, walk to the butcher counter, and give the name for my order. A good 1-2 minutes later, a blonde-haired woman in a sky blue face mask steps: 1) within 6 feet 2) taps me on the back of my shoulder (no gloves, and also a no-go during regular shopping, especially not now) 3) tells me that the store is limited to only 10 people at a time I say that there was nobody directing traffic/saying who could come and go. She said that was her job as an employee. She said there were now more than 10 customers inside and I had to go back outside and wait. Keep in mind, another 3 customers have entered, and another 2 have left while she's talking to me. I ask her to count the customers. There are 8. She apologizes in a VERY passive aggressive way, and then leaves her "own job" of counting entrances/exits to go talk to one of the butchers behind the meat counter. Keep in mind, I'm waiting at the meat counter for my pickup order. I can overhear her, loudly, talking about, "How the XYZ family is going downhill. The father was laid off and I heard the oldest moved back in and smokes weed now." First, don't talk BS about people most likely within Weymouth at full volume in a grocery store. Second, you're clearly not doing your job of being able to count or subtract to 10 because when I left, a family of 4 walked right in and nobody said anything to them. read more

We are fans of this deli/butcher shop/specialty goods store. This is a great place to grab a quick take-out meal (although there are a few tables at which to sit...but don't count on it.) The deli sandwiches, hot and cold, are delicious and priced reasonably. There are hot and cold salad options too. The butcher case is stocked with a gorgeous assortment of meats and some seafood. There is an enticing bakery with all sorts of goodies with lots of Italian options...they make pretty good cannoli for example... although they would be even better if they were filled as ordered versus pre-filled. There is a small dry goods area but don't count on this to take the place of a larger store. Prevites is where to go for meats, deli foods and baked goods. They have a great menu of catered foods too so if you're having a shindig and don't feel like cooking, you can count on some good eats being prepared for you. Avoid this place if you can on the weekend, the small parking lot fills up and Washington Street is super busy. But by all means, if you're in the area, at least pop in for a delicious sub. read more

I was at the Hanover location today and ordered 2 sandwiches (my first time) and brought them with me on a visit. They were made on submarine rolls. I must say I have never had such thick bread and because of it much less meat was inside the sandwich. As a result the sandwich was more bread than anything else. I could have ordered a different type of bread but thought sub rolls would be fine. Also at the Hanover location the sandwich is not filled in front of you where as in the Weymouth store you can see the sandwich being made. As a result of this pure disappointment and dissatisfaction I will not be buying anything in the future at Prevites-Hanover, especially not the sandwiches. read more

Walked in with my girlfriend to buy some lunch as we heard they made great sandwiches. Just as we got in line, I noticed the woman behind the counter looked our way and muttered to the customer she was helping "oh god please go away" with disdain in her eyes. The customer she was helping turned around to see who she was looking at, which was obviously us. He just laughed and turned back around. We felt singled out as there were other groups there. We decided to just get lunch else where. At that point it was not a very welcoming atmosphere or maybe something specific about us wasn't to her liking. I've been here for random grocery items since it is the closest market to my house, they're convenient but over priced for most items. The sushi is ridiculous at $13. Today I got a sandwich for the first time and never will get another. They absolutely drowned the sandwich in gravy and mayonnaise. Couldn't even hold the sandwich, I had to scrape the bread and mayonnaise off and ate with a fork what I could but not very appetizing. read more

Brain dead at the deli. Blonde women, this is the 2nd time she's made our order incorrectly. This time she came out from behind the deli and admitted she completely didn't hear me. Mine was 4 ingredients, chicken cutlet, Mayo, pickles, onion. Meanwhile she got the Turkey sub all wrong, she put Mayo not oil and forgot the cheese. Last Saturday (1/30/21) I had an appointment in Waltham, had to pick up something up in Quincy, and had a hankering for a pastrami sub. I came on here to Yelp and another Facebook page that suggested I come here. A bit out of the way, but thought I could pick up some other items while there. Was shocked when I pulled up and there was a line going out the door, and it was 15 degrees out. It's gotta be good then, right? It was smack dab in the middle of lunch hour so there was also a line of cars parked across the street so that's where I ended up parking. I waited for about 20 minutes outside (thank God for my winter coat and hat) but my fingers were frozen until I was allowed to go in (Covid restrictions) and put in my order for a King size pastrami. With tax it cost about $8 and literally could feed 2 people easily, probably 3! It was huge and delicious! What prompted this review is how incredibly nice and happy every employee was, and there was a lot of employees! With it being that busy, I was happily surprised that each and everyone I came across had a smile on their face (through their masks of course) and were so nice! I also bought boneless chicken breast, and 2 thick NY sirloin strip steaks which I can't comment on bc we haven't eaten them yet. After I paid and grabbed the bags I realized there was a bag of frozen ricotta gnocchi in my cart that the cashier forgot to ring up. The man behind me then told her he would pay for them!! How sweet is that?! Kindness was generous and bountiful that day! I had a few friends coming over that night and saw a frozen small Chicken parm platter for $40. Unfortunately instructions required 24 hours to thaw in the fridge. So not expecting much but thought I'd ask someone if they had fresh platters anywhere as I didn't have time for thawing. The lady said you usually need to call a day before for any fresh platters which was completely understandable, but the next thing I knew she was out in the back preparing a fresh chicken parm platter for me! It was so delicious, and could serve a ton of people!! Honestly, hubs and I have been eating the scrumptious leftovers, just finished it off with chic parm subs for lunch. Asked for a slice of pizza had waited long time to try as was never available. Finally it's there asked young male server for center piece without crust. He says they all have crust like I'm an alien with 2 old women servers with nothing to do but hover and gawk at me. Inches away from me. Said OK I'll take the center piece. Not worth waiting for obviously in store sicilian pizza they sell prolly old. Terrible cooked hard bottom and outer crust and thought i was biting into rocks as there were black burnt pieces of cheese on top. Break your teeth hard. Overall weird taste. ???
