    Good deal on dates!

Note: If these places appeal to you, please allow yourself enough time to check out the whole store, e.g. definitely 1hr+! Bulk Barn...on 'roids! Plus, they have a produce/fridge section too. Selection is second to none! Tons of coffee beans, loose leaf teas (boxes too!), spices, nuts, tons of various raisins, chocolates, candies, condiments, fill-your-own bottles of olive oil, DIY peanut butter, etc. etc. There are some samples that are put out. The only reason why it's not a 5* is that: 1. YES, as per the other reviews, I did see customers "sample" from the bins. Not sure what the protocol was, but there were signs that just said to use the scoops; 2. Some items are left en plein air and there were some flies; 3. Similar to Bulk Barn, some items have a quicker turn-around than others. That's it!

If you love chocolate, candy, and chips like I do and you consider Bulk Barn to be heaven... Make your way here ASAP (although mind their annoying hours). JohnVince seems like 100x the size of a Bulk Barn and is 30-70% cheaper. They also have the biggest variety imaginable... basically every snack you can think of. They even have dedicated grocery aisles for buying "actual food". It is really fun walking aisle by aisle deciding between chocolate covered almonds or toblerones or triple chocolate covered malt balls (get them all). Plantain chips, cassava, vegetable chips such as okra or beet etc, and nuts of all sorts available here. Also gummies galore! The only downside is it's annoying when kids or even adults dig their dirty hands in the bins to sample, I mean if you are sampling, that is fine with me... but at least use the scooper and put it into your plastic bag first! They also own Mr Peanut/Planters as they have the plant right beside which you can peek in to see them working away on making Peanut Butter. Lastly, whenever you are at your local Metro/Loblaws/Wholefoods, at the bulk section of the store, you may notice the bulk bin labels of "John Vince Corn Nuts" or "John Vince Chocolate Almonds".. now you know where to get it directly, and for so much cheaper! I come here every chance I get when in this neighbourhood. Chocolates of every brand and colour and flavour?!?! What isn't there to love!

Great and competitively priced with lots of variety for everyone. Staff are knowledgeable and friendly, and depending on what time you come there's no line up.

This place is located near my work so I come by on my lunch hour once a week and ogle the candy bins. Basically, I can guarantee you've never seen a bulk store quite like this one. The selection is second-to-none, and the food generally appears fresh. There is a small produce section, which is handy when I need to pick up a last-minute ingredient for dinner, and there is also a small cafeteria at the back, which looks like it specializes in meat sandwiches (not sure, I never bought anything from there). Additionally, there are countless shelves FULL of other stock; canned goods, special dietary products (gluten-free items), and that sauce you had that one time that you've been looking for ever since! That being said, I'm a bit wary of any open bins or uncovered food like dried fruit and such. I regularly see customers snacking from the bins (in spite of multiple signs forbidding this behavior, along with numerous video cameras). I've never seen mice, rats, or any other "critters" in the store, but I have my doubts that they can really cover all the food safely each night. Then again, I'm kind of squeamish when it comes to food being handled; I guess I have higher standards than some. When it comes to the open bins, I stick to the wrapped candy or chocolate. Anyhow, I still shop here (from the covered/sealed bins) because the selection is just amazing and the prices really aren't bad either. There are all kinds of specialty products to be had, but don't bother asking anyone where stuff is because most of the staff can't speak English and the some that do aren't particularly eager to help. I've tried asking staff where things are on 3 separate occasions and finally struck gold on my search for Tahini with an English-speaking manager. You are best to take some time and learn the layout of the store for future visits - I'm still finding new items I didn't know they had.

Seen this place transform from their old, not so tidy to their updated and more refreshed appearance. Compared to other grocery stores I still find No Frills chains the most affordable one. I can get my grass fed steaks here not ripping off my budget. They offer some organic stuff too, though its limited. The produce is alright you'll find good ones specially when they are fully stocked. Its great that this location is so diversed that they cater products from different background. They have the aisle for Kosher products, aisle for International foods and Halal meats and so on. I don't miss swinging by the Natural Food aisle. I'm glad that most of my stuff I use they have it here. This location don't offer yet the self checkout corner, seen some places they have it already but this one, you'll do the traditional queuing to cash out. I guess that's better, meaning more people are still employed than a machine. The people who works in this location is always approachable. You see them sweeping, stacking or putting away stuffs they will always throw you a smile and happy to assist you. I use my optimum card to collect my PC points and boy, I'm in heaven when its time to use my accumulated points! Who doesn't like big savings??? Location is just at the intersection of Bathurst and Wilson just around the corner with TD bank beside it, which also they share space for parking.

This Food Basics occupies a good portion of the second floor. I was here to hit the food court. The stall with fried soup baos and wonton soup is my favourite. Nanashake used to also be here, but it closed. Soul Made has taken over this stall. Because I was here for food court takeout, I needed a place to park. I normally park out on the street and pay through my Green P app. I did something different and parked in the underground lot. You can get complimentary parking for 45 minutes if you go up to Food Basics. Locate a standalone kiosk where you register your car's licence plate for 45 minutes of free parking. It was an easy process and such a nice gesture. If you do need more time, you are urged to use the Honk app (I'd assume that you can also do it through a browser) and pay for more parking time. I didn't need extra time. Instead, I did a quick look at this store before I left. It's a decent grocery store. It's bright and nicely organized. The produced looked fresh, especially the lettuce and celery. There were a bunch of cashiers working the checkout area. I was there mid-afternoon and there was a decent stream of shoppers hitting this store. I didn't need to get groceries, but I enjoyed popping in to briefly browse. I look forward to going back and shopping here, especially with complimentary parking. The trend these days is to have grocery stores built in to a high rise condo or building. It seems to work nicely to have this Food Basics on the second floor. I like the change coming here than hitting my local standalone one in suburbia. (329)

I needed to pick up a few grocery items, so dropping by Food World Supermarket afterwards was perfect. This building used to Rose Garden Banquet and Convention. I'm guessing that due to the pandemic, this business suffered and shut down. There is plenty of parking in front and around this supermarket. I backed into a spot and walked in. The doors automatically open, which is wonderful. This supermarket is located across from Burger King. I often frequent it when I crave a flame-broiled burger. Both are in the same plaza as Wok of Asia. It's clean and cheerful when you first walk in. You see cases of pop and sparking water. The produce section then greets you. I needed avocados and celery. Prices are either comparable to what you see at grocery stores like No Frills, but the quality is better. Both produce items that I grabbed were fresh and in great condition. This grocery store carries halal items. It features a lot of South Asian products, such as Parle-G and paratha. You also see ramen and Ribena, both of which made me love shopping at this store even more. I saw everything from custard to paneer. It does sell corned beef in cans and rose water in glass bottles. Cool! The meat section is impressive. It's huge with every cut of meat that you can possibly think of. You can get food to go. There's a stall within the supermarket where you can get pizza, shawarma, and more. I paid for my produce. The woman at the checkout was extremely pleasant and nice. I paid with my debit card. This store gives you a plastic bag. I thanked her and headed to the exit. Just before you exit, there's a stall that sells desserts, ice cream, drinks, and more. I asked the woman behind the counter whether their drinks have added sugar. They don't. The store goes with the natural sweetness of their fruit or veggies. I wanted to get the sugar cane and coconut hydrating beverage. She had run out of coconut, so I got a large sugar cane drink. As she made my drink, I looked at the desserts display. There were individual portions of chocolate mousse cake and sponge cakes. You can also get milkshakes, ice cream, and more. She asked whether I wanted ice in my sugar cane drink. I said as much as the cup could fit the ice. It was perfect on a hot day. I asked the nice woman how long this supermarket has been open for. It opened on May 18th. I paid with my debit card. Done! I thanked the woman and left with my groceries and drink. The sugarcane was indeed the real deal. It was naturally sweet and yummy. I was happy with my drink. It was nice consuming it as I drove home. Whenever I was in the area to grab some dinner, there was never a supermarket close by to get a few grocery items. It's definitely more convenient now thanks to this Food World. (174)

Coppa's seems to be a local grocery chain with only three locations nearby Toronto - North York, Scarborough and King City. The aisles are wide, the space is clean, fruits, vegetables, meat seem fresh and produce neatly stacked together. They have a huge butcher section, bakery aisle, prepared foods and more. It was not busy at all Sunday late afternoon. Many times it felt like a private grocery shopping experience. Unlike Chinatown, Walmart, Costco and other chains, where sometimes you would feel like your groceries are all picked on. The prices are moderate and pretty reasonable overall. I mostly purchased fresh produce so didn't notice the prices of the packaged goods. They don't tend to stock inhouse cheap brands, like No Name and Great Value but all moderate priced brands. There seem to be deals to be had like broccoli and flour on sale. The 2.5kg Robinhood flour bag was cheaper than even Walmart. I would've wanted a 5kg bag but it was sold out. Though I would say the butter was quite expensive, $7 was the cheapest option, and it was their own Coppa-branded butter, which was just one block, not even divided into sticks. The next alternative is $8 for premium Country-churned with pre-packaged sticks. Was a bit of a splurge for two blocks. I wonder if I would be able to taste the difference between cheap and expensive butter. If I'm in the area again I'll like to try their baked goods next.
