If you are looking for relatable, zero judgement, super informed and extremely supportive and helpful midwives, Maggie and Andrea are it! We were in their care for our first pregnancy and they made us feel so much care and love throughout. I loved having a personal connection with them. We really enjoyed every appointment and I'm really sad we have "graduated" out of care and moving on to our pediatrician/family doctor. A few things that stood out and I particularly appreciated about their practice: 1. Their office is small and cozy and a few minutes from our home. 2. Labs were ran through an in network provider, so I didn't have to pay out of pocket. Even though they are not in-network with anyone. Also results always came back super fast. 3. They have referrals for just about everything related to pregnancy and postpartum and some in-network providers. 4. Most appts are an hour long and they are extremely responsive/communication is always top tear. 5. They are also lactation specialist, so no need to hire someone else if you need help or have questions once baby is born. 6. They are a great balance of holistic/western medicine and have a great relationship with Ventura County Medical if you need to go to the hospital for any reason at any time during your pregnancy, delivery or postpartum. 7. My husband and I couldn't have chosen a better care team for our family. Andrea and Maggie supported us through our entire first pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. We left each prenatal visit excited and without worry. They are both so knowledgeable and have great energy. My birth experience was so special. They came to my house early morning and by early afternoon my son was in my arms. Maggie coached me through contractions on the phone allowing me to relax until they arrived. Once they arrived at my home, they set up quietly and quickly making sure not to disturb me. Throughout my labor, they massaged my back with essential oils and made sure I stayed hydrated and energized with water, juice, and snacks. They encouraged me as I pushed and helped move me into different positions when things got tough for me. When my boy was born, they handed him directly to me for skin-to-skin. Within the first two weeks after the birth of my son, Maggie and Andrea helped educate us on tongue ties(while still recommending we do our additional research). They referred us to a specialist who successfully cut our son's ties(tongue and lip). We saw Andrea and Maggie shortly after and they were able to demonstrate how to properly stretch the wounds. At about 5 weeks postpartum, I went to the emergency room for pain and ended up getting surgery to remove my gallbladder. While I was in the hospital my son ran out of breast milk. My husband reached out to our midwives and they were able to help us get donor milk. Once I was released, I noticed a dip in my milk supply and they saw us for two additional visits to help me increase my supply and then to confirm our baby was transferring enough milk. Andrea and Maggie are wonderful midwives with so much knowledge. They truly care about the families in their care, not just the moms and babies but the dads too. If you're looking for the best midwives out there, Andrea and Maggie are it! These two provide truly wholistic care from the 1st day you meet them! They are incredibly knowledgeable, caring, supportive, and funny too! By the end of our journey together, they really felt like family! My husband and I originally started visiting midwives in the hopes of doing another birth center birth, like we did with our first kiddo. Homebirth was something I always wanted and thought about doing, but I had some fear, and my husband was even more fearful and unsure. Andrea and Maggie completely got us on board the first day we met them. They thoroughly explained everything to my husband and I and went over what would be done in different emergency scenarios. By the end of our initial visit, which was filled with laughter, we felt like Andrea and Maggie were friends we had known for a long time. We both knew immediately that we wanted them to be our midwives! Prenatal visits were something I looked forward to! I loved my hour with them, and so did my 2 year old, who was able to go to all of my appointments. They even have a play area that she adored. They also got her involved with using the doppler to listen to her baby sisters heartbeat and gave her some snacks here and there. Needless to say, my 2 year old was a huge fan as well. I did dual care and still saw an OB, and let me tell you, the care is night and day! 15 minutes with an OB just doesn't even come close to your hour with Andrea and Maggie. You feel loved, you feel supported, you feel heard. You leave every visit feeling good and feeling more prepared for your labor and delivery. My homebirth was amazing! I'm so happy I was able to do it, and I cried tears of joy when I held my baby for the first time. I felt joy that she was here, but also all I could think, was "WOW! I DID IT!" I was so proud of myself. I birthed my baby at home, in my own space, surrounded by the people I loved the most! And I have Andrea and Maggie to thank for that! My 2 year old was able to climb into the water (I did a water birth), right after her sister came earthside and met her new sibling. She was so happy and it made my heart so full! It was exactly as I had imagined it. The amazing care continues postpartum and beyond. They made sure to stress how important it was for me to rest and recover (even though I didn't quite listen, but that's another story lol) and they support you with all things postpartum and with your breastfeeding journey. After having my 2nd baby I thought breastfeeding was going to be a breeze. I nursed my 1st for 2 years no problem. Little did I know my 2nd had a lip and tongue tie that the hospital did not catch. In fact I was reassured by the nurse and lactation specialist at the hospital that my son did not have any ties. I came home and was in so much pain breastfeeding, bleeding and chapped nipples. I was so confused trying to remember if I went through this with my 1st. This is when Maggie came to the rescue! Not only did she catch his lip and tongue tie immediately but suggested I get a second and 3rd opinion and sure enough the pediatric dentist and my chiropractor who specializes in pregnancy and babies all confirmed the lip and tongue tie. This was why I was bleeding while nursing and in so much pain. If it wasn't for Maggie I don't think I would have ever known. We were able to get his lip and tongue tie released within the 1st 2 weeks of birth. My son recovered very fast and Maggie even came between dentist and dr appts to make sure he was healing properly and there was no reattachment with the ties. She went over the exercises again with me and my husband. Turns out that even being an experienced nursing mama it's always good to get help when you have a newborn. I would have never known about my son's lip and tongue tie. We are now 4 months into our breastfeeding journey. 0 pain and my son is a healthy almost 17 lb baby Maggie has been so amazing. Andrea has been my midwife for two pregnancies. The first was during 2020 when my health insurance company essentially forgot about me in the c*v!d shuffle. Andrea was so attentive, scheduling zoom calls, answering my texts, my husband even had her contact in case he had a question or concern. Her care is the best of "both worlds" meaning she will always gave me multiple ways to combat any symptoms. Her first line of defense is to suggest natural remedies and rest but she knew when to suggest safe over the counter meds so I was able to make informed decisions for myself. Our family hired Andrea and Maggie for the birth of our second baby. They were highly recommended by another great midwife and we loved that it was a practice with two midwives, meaning there was always a backup! This was a very different pregnancy for us. But through it all Andrea and Maggie were reassuring and so knowledgeable. They didn't let us doubt ourselves and were very through in explaining what to expect. I can tell anyone that they are both very smart and will give you the best care before, during and after your birth. As a birth doula, I appreciated how they handled my birth. It was not easy for me. Where do I even begin. Maggie and Andrea delivered my first born in 2021 out of a birth center in Santa Clarita. We live in the antelope valley. Come baby number 2, they had then moved their practice to Simi valley but our relationship continued. all of our appointments were so informative and comfortable. Our first born always included on checking on his sister, toys for him to play with while we had our appointment, and of course snacks! Andrea and Maggie have created the most welcoming comfortable space for every one of your visits. Prenatal, breastfeeding support, you name it! They answer on a dime! When my round of mastitis came around and I was calling frantically, they immediately got back to me, gave me advice and products to use, and within 24hrs I was better! And no antibiotics needed. They are so educated and informed, 4never once did I question their judgement for my pregnancy nor my delivery. Our baby girl is now 1, and our son 2.5. We had the most beautiful, smooth, peaceful deliveries and I truly believe Andrea and Maggie played a huge role in that. They are always a call away and the sweetest humans ever.
