In the birth tub! Thanks Brenna for capturing this moment.
    Jessie R.

I can't say enough amazing things about Rachel and Brenna and the facility. For the first 2/3rds of my (first) pregnancy I was receiving care from an OBGYN (mainly because my husband was most comfortable going the standard hospital route thinking that was the "safest"), but I knew I wanted to avoid it after hearing horror stories from mom friends and my own family. I'm so grateful that at week 33, I searched and found SVBC and when I spoke to Rachel over the phone I had so much relief and peace. My husband and I met with Rachel and toured the facility, and she was so professional and knowledgeable that even my husband was convinced it was the way to go (also knowing that the nearest hospital was only 5 minutes away in case of an emergency). As for the labor experience itself, I didn't know what to expect as this was my first, but I always felt I was in the best possible hands and confident that I would be able to give birth naturally. The only intervention we ended up consenting to was breaking the water a few hours in (after what seemed like a stalling period), which in hindsight I probably would've preferred to wait and try other tactics but I was running on fumes at that point and was concerned about not having the energy to make it through to the end). Anyway, after that, Brenna probably spent 2+ hours "sifting" the baby as she wasn't in perfect alignment. After her magic touch, I felt the urge to push! Thanks to Rachel's amazing coaching (and Brenna's and my husband's haha), I was able to push Baby Rio out in a little over an hour. Honestly, I don't know why anyone would give birth at a hospital unless they absolutely had to. Most women can give birth naturally and if you have a team like Rachel and Brenna the odds are in your favor ! (Augustina, the other assistant who was preparing to take her exams, also seems awesome, but I only met her for one of the visits.) What a blessing this place is!!

I gave birth to my second baby here. This Birth Center is a comfortable environment that really makes you feel like home. I almost didn't want to leave after giving birth.. (lol). Rachel and Brenna were a great support system throughout my pregnancy. They were supportive of my birth choices. Rachel is so knowledgeable. She seems to always have an answer to anything you ask, seriously ! She knows what she is doing. This is why I chose her as a Midwife to begin with along with her welcoming personality. Brenna is such a sweet person. She really made me feel held during my labor and birth. Her encouraging words while I was moving through my contractions and pushing out my baby were very empowering. She was also gentle and informative throughout my visits. Giving birth here allowed me to see my natural potential to listen to my body and birth with ease. I knew I could depend on Brenna and Rachel if I needed them even if they were up all night with me. Thank you Rachel and Brenna for being a part of such a memorable and fulfilling experience in mine and my family's lives ! : )

If you are looking for relatable, zero judgement, super informed and extremely supportive and…read morehelpful midwives, Maggie and Andrea are it! We were in their care for our first pregnancy and they made us feel so much care and love throughout. I loved having a personal connection with them. We really enjoyed every appointment and I'm really sad we have "graduated" out of care and moving on to our pediatrician/family doctor. A few things that stood out and I particularly appreciated about their practice: 1. Their office is small and cozy and a few minutes from our home. 2. Labs were ran through an in network provider, so I didn't have to pay out of pocket. Even though they are not in-network with anyone. Also results always came back super fast. 3. They have referrals for just about everything related to pregnancy and postpartum and some in-network providers. 4. Most appts are an hour long and they are extremely responsive/communication is always top tear. 5. They are also lactation specialist, so no need to hire someone else if you need help or have questions once baby is born. 6. They are a great balance of holistic/western medicine and have a great relationship with Ventura County Medical if you need to go to the hospital for any reason at any time during your pregnancy, delivery or postpartum. 7. They are super down to earth, funny and relatable! We will def. be reaching out again for future pregnancies! Love them!

We left each prenatal visit excited and without worry. They are both so knowledgeable and have great energy. My birth experience was so special. They came to my house early morning and by early afternoon my son was in my arms. Maggie coached me through contractions on the phone allowing me to relax until they arrived. Once they arrived at my home, they set up quietly and quickly making sure not to disturb me. Throughout my labor, they massaged my back with essential oils and made sure I stayed hydrated and energized with water, juice, and snacks. They encouraged me as I pushed and helped move me into different positions when things got tough for me. When my boy was born, they handed him directly to me for skin-to-skin. Within the first two weeks after the birth of my son, Maggie and Andrea helped educate us on tongue ties(while still recommending we do our additional research). They referred us to a specialist who successfully cut our son's ties(tongue and lip). We saw Andrea and Maggie shortly after and they were able to demonstrate how to properly stretch the wounds. At about 5 weeks postpartum, I went to the emergency room for pain and ended up getting surgery to remove my gallbladder. While I was in the hospital my son ran out of breast milk. My husband reached out to our midwives and they were able to help us get donor milk. Once I was released, I noticed a dip in my milk supply and they saw us for two additional visits to help me increase my supply and then to confirm our baby was transferring enough milk. Andrea and Maggie are wonderful midwives with so much knowledge. They truly care about the families in their care, not just the moms and babies but the dads too. I am so lucky I found them and would never do a birth with anyone else. If you or someone you know needs quality people on their care team, Andrea and Maggie are the best.

Unfortunately, my overall experience was disappointing, and I will not be returning. From the beginning, the front office experience was mediocre. The receptionists often seemed rushed and gave very little attention to patients. On a couple of occasions, I was not even checked in properly when I arrived for my appointment. Throughout my pregnancy, I also noticed that the quality of care varied significantly depending on the provider. Some providers were much more compassionate, attentive, and reassuring than others, which made the experience feel inconsistent. That being said, I am very grateful that Dr. Grace Lee was the physician who delivered my baby. She was phenomenal--caring, compassionate, attentive, and reassuring. She made me feel safe during delivery, and I truly appreciated the way she cared for me during such a vulnerable and important moment. Unfortunately, my postpartum experience was where I felt the office fell short the most. I developed mastitis twice, and on both occasions, I was diagnosed over the phone. I was told there were no openings to see me, even though I was experiencing significant pain and what I considered an urgent medical issue. Instead, I was referred to the on-call doctor and given a prescription. I found this extremely frustrating. As a patient experiencing a painful postpartum complication, I expected to be evaluated in person when necessary. I questioned how my condition could be properly assessed over the phone without a clinical examination. Overall, there were simply too many inconsistencies in the care and level of compassion I received. At times, I felt like the office was too busy to truly listen or care when I was actually in pain and needed support. While I had an excellent experience with Dr. Grace Lee during delivery, the overall experience with the practice did not meet my expectations. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously, especially when it comes to postpartum care and making patients feel heard, supported, and cared for when they are most vulnerable.

They are kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, but the front office and administrative side has been consistently frustrating. The administrative staff is disorganized and unprofessional. They frequently mix up appointment times, give conflicting information, and make even simple tasks feel unnecessarily difficult. They don't use email or an online portal to send updates, test results, or appointment confirmations, which makes it almost impossible to keep track of anything. Everything has to be done by phone, and the communication is often curt or dismissive. Another major frustration is that any time I need bloodwork, I have to schedule a completely separate appointment with a third-party lab instead of being able to do it in-office. This makes routine prenatal care far more inconvenient than it needs to be. I really wanted to have a good experience here, especially since the clinical care from the midwives has been positive, but the front-office management has caused so much stress and confusion that I'm choosing to switch practices. I hope they improve their administrative processes and communication in the future.

From my very first prenatal appointment through postpartum care, every midwife made me feel heard, respected, and genuinely cared for. As a first time mom, I had countless questions, and this team always answered them with patience, kindness, and without judgment. A special thank you to Midwife Angela, who delivered our son. Throughout my labor, she demonstrated an incredible balance of clinical skill, calm confidence, and compassion. When I became dehydrated and experienced cervical swelling that was actually working against dilation, she carefully monitored both me and my baby and allowed us the time and space we needed at the birth center rather than rushing interventions. She diligently checked our baby's heart rate throughout labor and remained calm and reassuring every step of the way. When it came time to push, there was a moment when our baby's heart rate dropped significantly. Angela calmly encouraged me to give one strong push, and with that push, our son entered the world safely. It's a moment I'll never forget, and I'm incredibly grateful for her guidance and expertise. After delivery, I needed stitches for a tear, and Angela repaired them with such care and gentleness. Even during one of the most physically demanding experiences of my life, she managed to keep the atmosphere light with her wonderful sense of humor, which helped me more than she probably realizes. I'm also so thankful for Midwife Tiffany, who came during the hardest part of my labor to offer encouragement and then to welcome our baby into the world. Her support meant so much during those moments. This entire midwife team provided so much more than medical care - they offered reassurance, tender hands, respect for my choices, and unwavering support throughout pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. They helped make my first birth experience one that I will always look back on with gratitude. Thank you for helping us safely welcome our beautiful baby boy into the world. We will always be grateful.

Mary's prenatal yoga classes are incredibly calming and create such a beautiful sense of community. You meet wonderful moms and moms-to-be, and Mary has a gift for transporting you into a place of peace and relaxation during a time that can feel overwhelming and uncertain. Her prenatal doula appointments are never rushed and provide invaluable education, guidance, and preparation for birth. Throughout my pregnancy, I was able to text Mary with questions, concerns, and fears, and her insight and support were always incredibly valuable. When it came time to give birth, Mary was truly indispensable. She started as a calming presence during contractions, helping distract me from the intensity, keeping me focused, and providing constant encouragement. During pushing, she guided me through different positions and became my biggest cheerleader. After 4 1/2 hours of pushing, I had reached a point where I felt completely defeated and ready to give up. Mary never let me lose faith in myself and helped me find the strength to keep going. I truly believe that without her support, my birth experience would have looked very different and likely involved more interventions. Her care didn't stop after delivery. During postpartum visits, she arrived with delicious homemade goodies, checked in on my recovery, and continued to provide reassurance and guidance when I needed it most. Mary is a wealth of knowledge, compassion, and support during one of the most transformative, vulnerable, and sometimes scary experiences of your life. Even though my birth was not what we planned, Mary advocated for me and created a calm and sacred space with soothing massages, body oils, and sound bowls. When I think back to my labor and birth story, I literally see her face... she practically labored WITH me through her hands on support, coaching, encouragement, guidance, and unwavering empowerment. It carried me through. And her care didn't stop there. Postpartum, Mary showed up at my home with a bundle of thoughtful recovery goodies. She not only provided a healing full-body massage and prepared a soothing sitz bath, but she also cleaned my (very messy) postpartum bathroom--without hesitation or judgment. Though initially going for a Hospital Birth since I was 43 I was immediately put in the 'High Risk' category and all the shenanigans that come with that. So, at the encouragement of a friend of ours (Natural Birth Instructor) and with my husband fully on board, we decided to take control and started interviewing Birth Centers and Midwives. What attracted us to LA Midwife Collective was that we were getting 2 licensed midwives with years of experience. The moment we met Monica and later Jennifer, we were drawn to their professionalism, knowledge, and comforting approach. They made us feel so comfortable and empowered that we knew were in capable hands for the birth of our daughter. I loved that each visit was not rushed and not just about our baby but me...what was I eating? How was I feeling? Emotionally, physically? Exercises to do and foods to add. When decisions had to be made, they made sure we had all the information needed (pros/cons) so we could make an informed decision. Jennifer & Monica quickly went from strangers to family. The birth of our baby couldn't have gone better. Though Jennifer was off that weekend our doula, Johanna who also was their birth assistant, helped with the delivery of our baby. There were moments during the pushing stage where I started to panic and doubt myself, but Monica was right there saying exactly what I needed to hear. And after the birth as my husband and I were getting acquainted with our daughter Monica was in our kitchen making us something to eat. The care didn't end at the birth when issues came up with breastfeeding Monica was extremely quick to respond to our concerns. We loved the visits made to our home 1 day and 1 week after along with the office visit at week 3 and 6. The level of care we experienced exceeded anything we could have imagined. After this experience I now believe that regardless of one's birth plan every woman should have access to this type midwifery care.
