    Wicked witches.

Such a dive, but I enjoy a place that commits to their theme. If you couldn't figure it out, this place is witch themed and everything from the decor to the menu has a hint of witch in it. If it wasn't for my father I probably would have never checked this place out. You can read that as I have drove past this place on numerous occasions and never even noticed it. In fact, I almost caused an accident when I did a last minute turn as to not miss this place. The only downside, and this is the only one that I think most will notice, is the parking. There is virtually none. They have a small dirt lot off to the side of the building and there is no street parking near here. But if you are a biker, there is more than enough spots for your, as out front of this place is for bikers to park. Once we did park and proceeded to enter the joint, we were a little confused. There is a side door just off the small dirt parking lot, but a note tells you to use the front door. Reading it, we did as we were suggested to do and walked to the front. Once out front you have two doors to choose from. In actuality, it doesn't matter which door you use as they virtually take to the same point. Inside, it's dim, I mean really dim, even with the sun out it's as if you were sitting here during twilight. You know how I said it was a dive. It truly is, but I totally appreciate dive bars as you seem to get the best service in these establishments. We were greeted warmly by the bartender from behind the bar and with a shout were informed that we can sit wherever we desired. Within seconds the bartender came over to ask if we wanted anything to drink and brought us menus. The menus were quite fun to read over. Sticking to the theme items were named accordingly. Fondue (yes, a dive bar has fondue) was named 'The Cauldron.' Loaded fries were named 'Broomhilda Fries.' And every item that was a sandwich, was rechristened a 'sand-witch.' Everything on the menu sounded so good, but both my father and I opted for the Hot Turkey Sand-Witch; him with mashed potatoes, me with fresh cut fries. For a majority of the time our meal was prepared the door to the kitchen was open, so we were treated to a bit of a show. The turkey itself was actually pulled off the turkey breast, not presliced meat that was heated up. And the fries were definitely hand cut, after they got out of the fryer they were freshly seasoned, with what, I'm not sure, but was it good, heck yeah! The gravy they used was on point as well, some may claim it to be too salty, but I liked it, and there was just the right amount of garlic mixed in as well. While enjoying my meal, I also scoped out the place. While looking around I noticed that throughout the week they have specials. Keeping with the theme they bring in entertainment type of acts. One night you may have a tarot card reader and on another night they may have a blues band with a witchy name. Drink specials seem to be standard. When we were finished, we paid, and exited out the door that directed us elsewhere earlier (but only after observing the regulars do the same).

My default when I don't feel like being disappointed…read more @thepubat333 is that easy "let's just go to..." and no one argues it because it just...works. There's enough going on menu-wise that everyone figures it out, and I'm not exaggerating-every single time I've been there since they opened, someone at the table orders a French dip. Every. time. It's basically part of the experience now. Also if I see pierogi, I'm ordering pierogi. That's just who I am. Could've taken down the entire plate without blinking but I shared like a respectable adult (meanwhile mentally tracking which ones were supposed to be mine). It's just a laid back, neighborhood spot that doesn't try to be anything crazy and still ends up being exactly what you wanted. Fun fact: my friend and I once prank called from their landline, the owner immediately called back, we answered like nothing happened, and yeah...the phone was no longer an option for us after that

Bar seating was almost full with only a couple seats. Heard good things about their pizza too. There's free parking in the lot (although small). Shout out to our bartender Ange! The black and bleu shrimp was absolutely amazing. It's got blackened spice and has this creamy sauce that makes you go dip for more (I need that recipe honestly). If I had some bread, I'd definitely use this as a dip lol. We got the thin crust Sicilian pizza to share. The pizza unfortunately was very wet and kind of soggy. I think they could have waited to let it rest for a few min before serving because it would especially show when we were separate the slices and try to take one off the plate. I don't usually want my toppings and cheese to just slide off the pizza. Also since we were at a bar w/ some of the games going on, we wanted wings and got their crispy whole wings in a dry spice rub. They were pretty big wings and well seasoned -- not too spicy though if that's not your vibe.

It almost feels like you discovered something you weren't supposed to find. The menu is just as random as the location -- sandwiches, tacos, salads, and small plates. It sounds chaotic... but somehow it works. But at botL, the cacio e pepe is king. Yes, that cacio e pepe. The infamous Roman dish with so few ingredients that it has no right delivering this much flavor. It's simple food that exposes bad technique instantly... and botL absolutely nails it. They don't mess around either, even incorporating the hollowed-out cheese wheel. Sure, it might look a little showy... but when it tastes this good, who cares? I added the blackened shrimp and it was cooked to perfection. Perfect seasoning, perfect texture, perfect addition. Sometimes the best meals come from the most unexpected places... and botL fits that bill perfectly.

Maizy, Lydia, attention to our service, Simone (chef) and Tom greeted us with smiles and welcomes! I never choose for anyone but said I'm ordering our entrees! Cacio de pepe with filet tips atop. Wedge salad, wedding soup, and stemmed glass martinis and cabernet with dinner! Oh, brûlée cheesecake with a birthday candle was perfect ending! We arrived later than planned and happily closed the place down. We never felt rushed to go!!! That's an exceptional quality! I love it here and so did they! Resers best especially during prime time and days, but the bar is fun too! Some side parking and neighborhood street parking! You can thank me later!
