We had WOW for nine years and we went from excellent service to no service at all! Their technicians on the phone refused to schedule a technician on a day that was convenient for me. and would not let me speak with a supervisor. When you call, expect to wait 15 mins. to half an hour to get someone by phone, then there is a communication problem because they don' speak or understand English very well. When I called to cancel my service I was told they are outsourcing services to save the customers money and I should have asked to speak with someone in the United States. We had to drop our phone service with them years ago because they don't provide line service for that anymore. Since their TV service is went digital their is constant loss of volume, picture and static and the internet was going out several times a day. Good Riddance to WOW. Comcast came out yesterday and said all our cable from WOW was defective - "WOW IT'S THAT KIND OF SERVICE". read more

I didn't even get to the point of having services because they declined my request. Apparently the credit score of 966/999 wasn't good enough. Their reasons? 1. Too few auto finance accounts. (I paid off my loan and own my car). 2. Percent of department store accounts versus total accounts. (I guess paying off your credit cards every month is considered a negative). 3. The number of inquiries in the credit file adversely affected the score. (Well, I just bought a HOUSE). Basically my credit is good enough to buy a house, but not good enough for their service. Oh, and after a couple weeks with multiple calls to customer service to ask what the problem is and being told they would follow up with me, they never called back. I have been with WOW for over 15 years and never had any issues. But over the last few weeks they have been pushing firmware updates to their boxes right in the middle of prime time hour! All you get is a blue screen that tells you nothing about when the update will finish. Meanwhile you have no TV! Hey WOW how about pushing out these updates at say 2 am when we are all asleep! And their prices keep going up by $10 here and there, so they are no longer the least expensive game in town either. Next time this firmware update happens in the middle of a Hawks game I am switching to Comcast. read more

Not sure what is with all the reviews but I decided to give these guys a shot. I ordered Friday over the phone, Saturday the sales rep showed up (following on my inquiry) and gave me a free install. Today (sunday) Ben (the tech) showed up promptly and installed the service. It took about an hour since there were some issues with low signal and such. He gave me his card with his supervisors phone number and promised the issue would be resolved in an hour or two. An hour later I checked the service and its working perfect, I tried a few sites (speedtest and various downloads off the cogent, zayo network) and I get exactly the speed I purchased. One note is that I wish they sold the modem instead of renting it, the rental is expensive compared to the price of the modem. I purchased mine on CL for peanuts so I'm a happy camper. So far I don't have a single thing to complain about, they were on time, communicated well when they were issues, provided a timeline to fix them and the issue got fixed within an hour. One thing I noticed is that the service from the local folks is way better then the folks you get from calling the headquarters. Tom read more

Been with comcast now for over a year. I miss wow. Well,I use to be a fan. Then the wait times went to 45 minutes when I could get through. Half the time I just got a busy signal. I emailed them and got a auto-response saying they would get back to me within 48 hours. No lie, 48 hours later a response came. No answer, but a response. Then I had to ask again and wait another 48 hours. My issue - I needed a new remote for one. Not exactly a big deal. Then after the smoke cleared (I thought), my bill goes up $20. Changes in my bill seem to happen pretty often though I do not change service. Called today, got a busy signal. Sent an email and got the 48 hours message. Their website says something about issues the last few days. By my count, it is over 2 months. Now on to what they do as a provider. Let me start by saying I put up with less options since they were such a good customer service company. But since that is no longer the case, the fact that there on-demand channels are limited (no AMC, no CBS for example) they do not offer the NFL network, (MLB, tennis, NHL either), their technology is 2005 at best, this is a company that is being passed by. And their website is horrendous. Try finding a cost on anything there.... I read some other comments about billing. Same issue, promised a rate and then a midnight change. Started out OK but downhill from there. Hope this information is helpful to others. 1. If they owe you money, forget about ever seeing it. Was owed $9.06 (not a lot but it's mine, not theirs). Have waited 4 months and made 3 calls; still waiting. 2. Be sure to check the 'Additional Services' portion of statement. I was charged for an additional adaptor I never received/used but had no way of proving it and had to pay $129 when I closed the account. 3. Was charged $2.00 monthly for a digital adaptor when the cost was to be $1.99. Again, not a lot of money but if they're overcharging all their customers one cent per month this is a nice, if not illicit, profit for them. read more

The service they provide is good, we have a bundled account with Phone, Inernet and digital cable. Their Customer Service line does not live up to their products. I have called numerous times over the past several years when my digital cable goes out. As in the past the representative told me that the issues were with my equipment and not with their digital signal. Yet again the representative did not listen to my problem just indicated that the issues were on my side and that they could only send out a representative for a fee to my house. The issue wasn't my equipment, nothing had changed with my setup. I was told that my dogs probably bumped the connections. Sorry my labradors won't fit in the 2 inches behind the shelving unit. A friend who previouslyworked for a cable company was able to help. She told me to me to hold down the Vol-, Vol+, and Info button on their box down until 11-11 shows on the box screen. Then to pull the power cord out and count to 20 and then put back in. The box then did several internal beeps and the word boot showed on the screen. Following these instructions my cable came back on.. Clearly WOW is bilking their customers for service calls that aren't necessary. Their poor and shady customer serrvice practices leave me with a bad taste and I will consider moving to another provider. read more

A couple years ago I'd have given WOW 5-stars in a heartbeat. Their service had been reliable, customer service was swift, knowledgeable, and local. Speeds were a bit poky, but not terrible. Sadly, over the last year it's taken a steep, steep dive. Most of the time I get "support" that's reading from a script in a thick accent - sounds like outsourcing in a major way. They've stonewalled on fixing signal level issues that were causing my Tivo tuners to shut off and drop signal intermittently, and for at least a couple months my internet speeds were all over the map. Due to the lack of support I've resorted to fixing issues myself by adding splitters to manage signal level and replacing their cable modem with my own. I shouldn't have to do stuff like that. And pricing - damn, but it's expensive. It was always a bit higher than Comcast (especially for the speed and channels), but the service made up for it. Well, the service has deteriorated and the prices have just kept going up. The only reason I still give three starts is because what's the alternative? Installed ultra upgrade 11/24 Lost service that evening 11/24 Called CS and was promised repair 11/25 Upon checking discovered we are not scheduled for repair til 12/1 6 days of lost service during thanksgiving weekend plus hours waiting on the phone. We have been using WOW for almost 10 years. 2 1/2 weeks ago, we decided to upgrade our service. We added Netflix to all of our tv's and 100 mps to our internet. In those 21/2 weeks, we have had a technician out 4 times to fix our internet and cable. This last time, my husband called on a Tuesday night and they said that someone would be out Wednesday morning between 8 am -11 am. When he called to confirm the appointment, the appontment had been changed to Friday (without our knowledge or consent). My husband works from home and can't work without internet. He had to go into the city to work and my son, who also works from home, had to go to the library. I called WOW the next day and complained. They said they could send out a technician on Thanksgiving (the next day). I demanded a free month since my husband and son were so inconvenienced. They said they only credit for the time your cable/internet are out. DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, USE WOW! They are horrible! read more

WOW recently bought out our local company. We have TV/Internet and phone. Service completely goes out once or twice a month for our entire area and takes hours to fix. TV pixelates regularly and now audio has started cutting out. Internet is okay when it is up. Phone doesn't really matter as we are considering dropping it anyway. I am now exploring options (if we have any). I wish WOW would have stayed away. Things were better before they showed up. read more

I have been with WOW cable & internet customer for over 15 years. I have had difficulty keeping up with the rate increases. I have called and the customer service people usually placate me by offering to eliminate $10-$15 per month for 12 months only. It has now ended & my rates go up at least $10 every month non stop. The channels have difficulty changing & are very slow to change, no channel surfing. Many more channels are now blank & never replaced. No good shows on with the channels now left. I am on a fixed income and this is TOO MUCH. I called to see if there was anything the customer service person could explain or help me with. They were not too willing to help at all. I constantly get flier from WOW telling me of their great packages for $69 (but that is for new customers only). Why can they spend so much money mailing me these incentives. ATT offered $89 package with upgraded Internet and 4 free DVRs so WOW lost another loyal customer. WOW has done nothing to retain me & even wants $50 to pick up a $2.00 digital tv adapter that they said was free 8 years ago, really free, I guess they are ripping people off for this junk equipment that is worth $2.00 & charging $100's for it if lost & getting away with this. They should have to pick this junk up since they brought it, & should not have said it was free. They are terrible customer service, crappy shows, slow internet, no channel surfing. WOW! Wide Open West: Undisclosed costs & very poor services: WOW! is what you say when you get a bill that's 20% higher than you originally were told and agreed upon with their representative. If they would allow Zero stars, I would give them a "0" for their Ultra programming plan and their non disclosure of actual costs. Agreed on $105 for cable service, Internet service and phone service plus only the applicable taxes and including two cable boxes and HD service. I repeated numerous times to the rep "$105.00 plus applicable taxes only" reply each time was "yes.". Getting billed $126.25 (without tax,) billed $21.25 over the agreed complete costs plus $10.76 taxes for $137.01. Junk fees as follows: Service Protection Plan $5.00 (never told or asked for this coverage would not have bought because there is no contract) Broadcast TV fee $7.75 Sports Surcharge (specifically requested no sports channels when I signed up) $2.00 Network line fee $6.50 = an additional $21.25 over the agreed price. While $21.25 per month does not seem like much it is actually $21.25 plus tax (lets say) $22.00 x 12 month = $264.00 x 10 years = $2,640.00 out of my pocket and possibly yours! Some people like my father had been with his provider for 32 years before he changed so at that rate it would be $8,448.00 over the actual bill. They never ever disclose these fees! Now lets talk about the services: Internet, told rep we have 4 TV's with Netflix streaming, three tablets and one desk top she picked the speed. Computer and tablets very slow to react, as a matter of fact 2 to 4 seconds to change pages/sites and some time longer. Much much slower then Comcast (had Comcast before going to, WOW!) Netflix consistently does some type of rebooting during the program. TV at $105.00 level, no good programing all commercial TV and not all of the channels with commercials are included like MGM some of the Fox networks and more. Only Turner Classic Movies is non commercial. Program schedule is difficult to navigate, all program picks on the guide need to come to the center of the guide before you can choose, Comcast and U-verse you scroll to the program. Remote is set up opposite of U-verse and X-finity so it is difficult to get used to. Guide is very slow to react to remote. The network emblems are listed on the left of the guide and many are difficult to read. Programming: you do not know if you subscribe to a channel until you try to click on the channel then after 4-5 seconds wait for the channel to react it tells you you are not subscribed to the channel. U-verse menu shows the program in progress on the guide without clicking on the channel. Comcast is quick to show you do not have the channel. WOW! Ultra TV is clumsy and very slow for everything you do. Phone service: gave me a new number that appears to have been very recently surrendered by a Google advertiser, getting multiple calls about my Google ad I never have had. Comparing U-verse and Comcast X-finity is easy. U-verse has a lot more programming for less money (can't get U-verse in my neighborhood father and girl friend have U-verse). Comcast is faster less expensive in the junk fees and much user friendly. I guess I feel ripped off, lied to and very disappointed, (leaving shortly going back to Comcast.) I believe all cable, satellite Tv have additional junk fees but some are a lot less than other. 7/1/15: today is a good day, back with Comcast. read more

Very disappointed. I was a WOW customer 2 years ago and switched to Comcast because of a great deal they offered. I then decided to switch back to WOW now because my Comcast rates went up. Wow am I sorry I switched back to WOW! Only second day into my service, I'm already having issues. One of the TV boxes can't get the "grid" (guide) to show up on a beat up box they installed. My wifi signal can't even reach my patio which is about 25 feet from the box. Had no issues with picking up Comcast signal and the box and my patio furniture are all in the same place. They tried to tell me that I should pick up service 150 feet away so maybe too many walls in the way and tried to sell me a repeater for $40. Seriously!? My walls haven't changed since I had Comcast 2 days ago! It's your service or equipment WOW! I guess you pay for what you get. Service technician scheduled to come out in a week but doubt they will fix it so will be most likely dropping service with WOW. read more

I was promised a $25 credit on my internet service within 60 days, I spoke with many people and was promised many times i would receive the credit, however the credit never happened. As far as their internet signal, weak and intermittent at best. I left Xfinity solely based on cost and regretted it immediately. We ordered WOW and scheduled to have it installed on a date so that our first bill would not overlap with our final bill from our previous provider. The representative we spoke to on the phone when setting up an installation date assured us that our first bill would arrive 7 days after installation and would not be due for another thirty days. We received our first bill 7 days later as expected, but the due date on the statement was only 14 days after receiving the bill instead of the thirty that were promised. We called customer service and were told there was no way to change the due date. We asked to speak to a supervisor who confirmed the information we were originally given was incorrect and reiterated that there was no way to change the due date. She offered to waive the installation fee which lessens the blow of paying our final $200 bill from our previous provider on top of the new $180 bill from WOW. It's still extremely frustrating to budget around dates that were provided by a representative to only have completely different dates listed on the bill. Their representatives should not be giving out inaccurate information to new customers. read more

The big thing about WOW compared to Comcast is that WOW almost never goes down, it's much more reliable. Over time I've migrated from cable to cable+internet to cable+internet+phone and I've been very happy, especially about the internet reliability and speeds. read more

I am sitting at Einsteins downtown Naperville, WOW has a massive failure, no phone, no internet and limited TV. Shutdowns are part of the deal, but the lack of information that Customer service has is appalling. They do not know what the problem is, what caused the problem, the location of the problem, and this is 4 hours into the problem. WOW cable is installing lines all over our town. In my yard they have broken the branches off our 75 year old spruce tree. They break them off and rip the bark. There is no saw. just broken and bent branches. The workers claim to not speak English so there is no responsibility. The Hispanic manager just sits in his car saying he doesn't understand. Wow!-Not Really So, every time I try to watch a sporting event in Chicago on my WOW service it usually starts to pixelate, then goes out, then eventually comes up pixelated, and then goes out again. Bears game, Blackhawks game. Can anything be more irritating? Well, I found out, yes, it can. I just had my 5th interaction with WOW regarding this problem. They said they would send out a technician AND a supervisor between 2-4pm today. While out at a meeting this morning WOW left me a voicemail saying they tried to reach me but were unable, so I needed to call the 800 number and reschedule. This was 3 hours before the window of time we scheduled. So I called and waited for another 5 minutes after punching in a long list of numbers into their automated system, again. Even though I punched in our phone number 3 separate times and finally heard a real person on the phone he was unable to help meeither reschedule my appointment, of cancel my service. Why? Because I didn't have the last four digits of my wifes ss# handy! The onlother time I am spending with WOW is the call back to cancel my service. Service is not part of their offering. read more

Their modem/router combos are complete crap; the wifi drops out every hour or so, they constantly lose their settings and some of the features don't even work (I had 3 different techs tell me there was no option to set a static IP address, WHILE I WAS STARING AT THE PAGE THE OPTION WAS ON, before one finally told me it would be "fixed in a future firmware update." ) The service is flaky, at best, and the top tier internet service still crawls (when it works at all). I finally dropped these guys and am going back to Comcast next week; yeah WOW might save you money, but you get what you pay for! read more

When I first signed up with WOW they had decent (not good) customer service. They cared if threatened to switch. Apparently they got too big too fast. Their customer service is horrible and they are snotty and condescending but call to cut off services and they somehow find a little bit of niceness.
