Not happy at all! We ordered internet service a couple months ago and I must say the installation tech was a little rude. We ordered the 50 mbps which is the fastest they offer and we figured that we would have lightning fast internet throughout the whole house. That is NOT the case. They installed the router in the master bedroom, because it was easier than putting it in the main living room. The router is no further than 20 feet away from my main computer, but we only get one bar of reception. Its super slooooow, but I get a full 5 bar signal from my smart phones tether connection. My playstation will barely connect online even though it is located right next to the router. When we called to complain, they sent a tech out to my house to see what was going on. He could not find out what the problem was. Instead he told us we have to buy a wireless adapter($40), so we can get a good signal in the main living area. Also, whoever input our information into the system accidentally put the wrong account information onto our account. Wrong name, address and phone number on the account. $60/mo for crappy service? I was a WOW customer for about 10 years and switched to at&t u- verse, boy am I sorry. I never had a bit of trouble with WOW, the best customer service ever. With at& t it is the complete opposite! Terrible customer service, and no one knows what you are talking about,they send you to this dept and that dept, they all have a script they recite,but they will not help you. We switched to WOW from Comcast several years ago. There was a modest savings over Comcast and at first we had excellent service. During the past two years we have had frequent problems, sometimes with cable TV and sometimes with the phone and/or internet. Sometimes they will admit it is a system problem but often their tech support people try to convince me that it is a problem with my wireless router or my computer -- and it never is. Today the internet service is terribly slow as a result of poor upload speeds and there is at least a 30 minute wait to contact tech support. Comcast is looking attractive... read more

Had WOW from their beginning in Naperville when they took over AT&T. But, in the last 12 months they have fallen apart. Slow connect speeds, the price has increased 40%, the equipment keeps breaking and they typical wait for customer service (If you can actually get through at all) has been over 45 minutes for the past 2 months. I sent 4 emails and never got 1 reply. I've had it. I called Xfinity for installation today. read more

I very rarely write reviews. In this case I was compelled to as all tings about the service I got was bad. Calls were digitized (scrambled) 80% of the time. Internet would drop and will sometimes take more that 1/2 hour to be back and worst of all - I had to reboot the modem atleast 3 or 4 times a week to get the stated speed. and..... the customer service is very very bad. I will stay away from this company. Unfortunately Comcast is neither stellar but light years ahead of this super unfriendly company. read more

I used to LOVE Wide Open West before they expanded and became a "Big" company. If I called I customer service, I would talk to someone who actually cared and could fix a problem. The last year or two they have really taken a nose dive. I called for service because my TV in the living room would work only if I disconnected the cable from the bedroom TV and visa-versa. I had a scheduled time of between 1pm to 3pm. When no one showed up I called and they said it had been rescheduled by the Service Person to an "open time" which meant they could show up whenever. Long story short, after several calls (up to 10pm at night), I was still on the list to have someone come ~ I was offered a $25 credit on my account. Ah, $25 does not help the inconvenience! The next day I went to Fry's Electronics & bought a new splitter and fixed it myself. read more

Service is ok but the bill keeps going up and up. Have been a customer for over 15 years and pay almost $200 for Internet, basic and digital cable only, and phone. So many surcharges and taxes. The person I talked to was very rude and not sympathetic to anything I said. I know there are other companies out there that offer so much more for less. read more

If you don't like long reviews then here is a summary. If you like explanations on why I rated so low the story will follow. In short a WOW! technician came to my house on Sunday at 2PM to install cable and internet. He did not leave until 8:30PM that night. After 7.5 Hours I still had no cable, and no internet. Tech said he would return the next day to finish. He did not return, and WOW! could not send anyone else. Terrible start to my WOW! experience. As for the explanation, all I needed was cable and internet. I scheduled to have a tech come out for an appointment to install new cable in two rooms of my house (which is not a mansion). The tech arrived on time at 2 and was finished running wires by 3:30-4. When we plugged in the modem and cable there was no signal. He calls his help center who helps him trouble shoot. He went to the box to discover that that there was no signal coming from WOW!'s box. Strike 1: I would like to think that checking for a signal would have been the first thing to do. So he had to run a new wire from my neighbor's box (about 50-75 yards away) to my house. Success! The modem works and the internet was up and running. We go to check the cable on the TV to find that there is no signal. At this point it is 5:30-6. He thinks it may be the line into the house. He runs a new cable outside from my living room to my house hook up. No success with the new line. At this point it is 7ish. He proceeds to trouble shoot himself, and when he couldn't figure it out he calls again. At this point it is about 7:45. Still no cable and his trouble shooting office is closing if 15 minutes. At 8:15 he decides that there is nothing he could do. When he left I did not have cable, and my internet was so slow it was as though I did not have it at all (0.22Mbps to be exact). He left at 8:30 and (knowing he didn't finish the job) said he would be back the following day with a lead man to fix the issue and finish the install. The next day I was home early from work to meet them. They did not show. Called WOW! and no appointment was scheduled, and there was no note was made on the account. No tech was available that day. So I was without cable and internet for 2 days. Even with my help the tech was at my house for 7.5 hours to install cable and internet in 2 rooms. He did not complete his work and left if for the next tech to fix. As I said before, terrible was to start. This makes me wonder how their service is actually going to be. read more

Its a mess! I used to have wow at a previous address and had problems getting a proper signal. They kept trying to blame my equipment which cost me about $250.00 to get new equipment. Turns out that it wasn't the issue at all. I moved then said lets cross our fingers and try again. Now its major billing issues. I got charged $80.00 in unnecessary fees and the after two calls they 'transfer me' and 'accidentally' the call is dropped both times after waiting on hold for so long. read more

For a long time I was a very loyal WOW customer, and would refer anyone looking for cable providers to them. About 18 months ago their service became very disappointing. In that time I've had service interruptions (not due to weather) on four separate occasions. Each time it was over a week before they had a technician out to service the problem. Just recently I moved and had a horrible experience transferring services. Although my address was in their system as a serviceable address, it took THREE customer service phone calls and reps before I got to one that could actually book an appointment (this was through the time period of one full week). When the technician came out today, he showed up 45 minutes late and tracked mud into my home. He installed the cable, checked the box to make sure it worked and was out the door. After returning home from work I found out that cable wasn't working. When I called I found out they failed to update my address in their system, so the first half hour of phone calls were for nothing because they were sending a digital signal to the wrong address. Then I found out the tech never registered the device as he should have. Once they took care of that it still didn't fix the problem. At this point, I have such a high credit on my account it will be awhile before I pay another bill, which is the only reason I haven't switched yet. They may be better than Comcast, but that doesn't make them a reliable service. They pride themselves on customer service, and being a local, established provider. I will NEVER recommend them again. In fact, I urge anyone looking for cable service to look elsewhere and intend on spreading the word. Such a huge disappointment. read more

i have had wow since they came to our area! recently, the actual service has been consistant and good but.........their customer service is horrible! i stayed with them when at&t and comcast wanted to steal me away! they matched the best deal and guaranteed a price freeze for a year. wow!! not true! they have tried to raise my fee several times since then! they raised my bill over $40 a month with no warning! i took my account off the auto debit until they fixed it and they still drafted from my account with no authoization, they drafted the increased amount! i have contacted them over 10 times to fix this and several people have said they corrected it but still no credit back!! this is crazy! since i agreed to stay with them i have spent over 30 hours on the phone with them trying to correct their mistakes and get them to do what they promised when i chose to stay with them!! this has been a joke!! each time i call they say it's been resolved....not true when i get my bank statement!! be careful.....the actual service is ok but they do not deliver what they promise!!! extremely dissappointed in this company!! read more

I have had WOW since the beginning at it was great, until a few months ago when I added long distance on my phone with WOW, lately it has been dropping calls and disconnects the people I am talking to and this is very frustrating. I have had a total of 5 service techs come to my house, each with a different reason why this is happening. (1) said it was my corded land line so we unplugged it, still happened (2) said it was maybe my modem and new one was installed, still happened(3 & 4) spent an hour working on the box at the back of my house and looking at cable connections, said they did a lot of stuff, all greek to me, said it shouldn't happen anymore, well guess what 4 days later it started all over again, I don't feel I should have to pay for bad phone service, and I cannot cancel WOW cause I am locked into a year agreement, if I cancel a hugh early termination fee gets added to my bill. I have been with Wide Open West for over 10 years and never thought I would leave until now. They don't offer all of the bells and whistles of other providers, but the customer service was the best I have ever received from any company. It seems the challenge of keeping of the competition have hit them and the customer service is now lost completely. My bill increased 25% from November 2015 to November 2016. When I called to inquire about the increase I was told it is to be expected. While I understand there will be increases, 25% is way too much. After 45 minutes, I was offered a slight discount which still left me with an excessive bill. I considered cancelling and told the rep I would think about whether I was staying with WOW. THe next bill i saw there was no discount and called back. Another 45 minutes on the phone and I was told the discount would not be applied if I was thinking about cancelling. When I explained that I hadn't cancelled, I was told they don't offer discounts to someone cancelling service. I explained that if I cancelled, I would not be paying anything at all. He also told me about how actors want more money and producers want more money so bills will increase. At the rate I am now paying I can get the service with the bells and whistles for the same price. I stayed for the customer service, but now that the customer service is on par with Comcast, I might as well go with the bigger company that has better service. Sorry WOW, I sang your praises for years, but a 25% rate increase and horrible customer service has me moving on. read more

If you would've asked me 8 months ago, 5 stars would've been no question. I was so happy with WOW that when I had to move to an area that didnt have WOW I was extremely sad. The day I called to end my service I let them know how great they were. The rep told me that he was sad I was leaving and to return the equipment to my nearest Dropbox facility. All was done. Not a peep for 8 months. Then...I get a letter in the mail today from a collection agency. They had sent me to collections for my final bill. I never received a bill, warning, phone call, telegram, walkie talkie, or flyer telling me i owed money and was going sent to collections. I called them and the supervisor stated that its not their policy to send anything after the final bill ( which I never got) its was for $49. I wasn't dodging $49. I feel that is a very sleazy practice. You are messing with people's credit. You owe it them to send at least a warning. That single move has destroyed any relationship with them in the future. read more
