Walking to dinner on Friday evening one could not help but notice the scene at Wienercaféet, a visit for Breakfast five days later finding things far more sedate at a space opened in 1904 that continues to serve as an all-day rendezvous seven days a week. Operated as a Champagne Bar and Café at Biblioteksgatan 6, nearby shopping and local businesses supplying an endless supply of foot traffic that has made the Restaurant as successful with tourists as it is with locals, guests arriving at one of the Restaurant's two entrances during morning hours will find themselves free to waltz right in and explore, table service eschewed in favor of a Bakery where items are laid out with prices a bit higher than other places less well appointed in terms of décor. Maintaining much of its old wood and granite, the kitchen clearly upgraded at some point since Wienercafeet was taken over by a local group managing at least a half-dozen additional Bars and Eateries, it was with several guests already enjoying Fika and Coffee that six items were selected from a line-up for approximately 240 SEK, first bites of the Cardamom Bun seeing caramelized outsides give way to a dense interior rich in Butter but low in Spices. Improving henceforth in terms of Food, the lone waiter in charge of Water refills spending most of time kibitzing with two middle-aged women seated outside, it was setting aside more than half of Roll one that attention turned instead to another topped in Nuts, the base similar but deeply penetrated by Sugar though in terms of taste the more traditional Tosca Tart proved better thanks to less Bread and more notable flavor from an array of Seeds and Nuts. Next investing in previously unheard of "Wienerbrod," a laminated ring of Pastry surrounding Vanilla Custard and lightly drizzled with Icing, it was here that Wienercaféet again showed well, the Budapest at first appearing dry but in reality delicate and light with smooth Cream supporting Orange segments while the Chokladbol was dark and rich but spared from being one dimensional by an equal ratio of Cocoa to Oats and Coconut. read more

Stopped here during a busy day of sightseeing in Stockholm for a relaxing tea time moment. There was a bit of a line but staff were very friendly and we got seated relatively quickly. My friend and I each had the afternoon tea and it was quite lovely. My jasmine tea was great! There were so many delicious sweets to try! The scones were also amazing! My one complaint is that maybe there could have been one or two more savory options since there were soo many sweets. The overall feel of the place was great it's a cute fancy looking place while still feeling welcoming and approachable. Our server was also excellent. Extremely attentive and friendly. read more

I only had coffee and some pastries at Wienercafeet, but that was already enough to earn 4 stars. Coffee was great and I accompanied a perfectly crafted macaroon. If you are in Scandinavia, you don't have to travel all the way to Paris to get a taste of these and other delicious pastries. Service was also great, a good contrast to what I generally get in Germany. FOOD & DRINKS If you have read my reviews you might already know that I am very critical about coffee around the world. Well whether I was lucky to have a good Barista or whether they have good quality coffee I ordered a filter coffee, perfectly brewed and served in this beautiful silver pot. You also have a lot of food options throughout the day. I didn't try any, but everything looked delicious. If I am ever around I will definitely try something out from their food menu. SERVICE: Great service and attention. I asked the waiter to surprise me with the macaroon flavor and he was very cool about it. Coincidence or not, he more or less brought what I had in mind. Pleasantly surprised! LOCATION: Located right in the middle of the shopping street, it is the perfect place to take a break from a hectic shopping afternoon. During a nice sunny day (which are rare in Stockholm) you can enjoy people passing by or you can explore the interior which is also very nice. Inside you find modern meets traditional kind of place with some Parisian fancy flair to it. A recently opened, totally refurbished cafe that aims to high-end with high quality products, a maître d', and waiter service at the tables. This a true improvement compared to the evil staff that used to be there and seldom could spell service. The cafe is definitely earning high scores for the food and sweets served (4+), and their drip coffee tastes great as well. Everyone is given a menu binder to pick and choose from. The problem with a preprinted menu though is that things run out. There were plenty of cakes that they were out of so I ended up on my third choice (a hint from the carb gods that I should have passed?). Running out of Schwarzwald cake at a Viennese cafe seemed more than unfortunate. Service is good. Our waitress seems to be doing as good as she could one of her first days at work, but both the maître d' and the ones cleaning the tables did a very poor job. It's good that you clean the tables, but probably less good to brush the breadcrumbs down on the chairs... So, there are some edges that need to get some smoothness to make Wienercaféet achieve its high-end goal. And - if you happen to bring a red pen - the menu sorely needs editing in Swedish, English and French. read more

As we were going to catch the boat, we wanted a nice place for breakfast. We saw this place and decided to come inside. Ok, so it's a bit of a fancy place... First time I am seated for breakfast anyway... We ended up going for the pancakes... I am not fond of gellies or marmalades so I'm always a bit afraid in Sweden when they say it has berries... It's normally jam... No, it just had something like 3 berries for all the pancakes... Decoration just, really... Even not liking jams, I felt I was tricked into believing it was blueberry pancakes (or whatever that berry is called - see picture)... I went here for lunch today. I got a prawn sandwich and coffee. The sandwich was like a prawn cocktail with egg on bread and was really refreshing and delicious. The coffee was also really good. The menu was really great and I had trouble choosing between the wide variety of options so I think il have to return to try another dish. The service was pretty good, but quite a long wait for the bill which seems common here in stockholm. Went on Monday afternoon for coffee & desert. I didn't like the welcoming . The lady waiter Sara (Iranian) was not friendly. I think she was the manager!!! We had a lovely late lunch at Weinercafeet on a Thursday afternoon and were pleased with both the food and the atmosphere. I had a bea-u-ti-ful mediterranean salad, and my better half had a hu-ge open-faced salmon sandwich because #Sweden. Coffee and fancy desserts sealed the deal on this meal. They also have a lovely beer and wine list for perfect afternoon relaxation. Wienercaféet is on of the most expensive shopping streets in Stockholm and it tries to fit in there. The place was extensively refurbished a year or so ago by the new owners (the same owner as Zink Grill, Prinsen, Villa Godthem and a few other places) and I think they have done a really great job of creating something reminiscent of a cafes I would more expect to see in Paris or Vienna. It has an old style to it but it still feels modern. I also really like the fact that they have worked in a nice way with the lighting of the place. They have maître d' who is welcoming and seating all the guest. it is of course nice but an issue that was clear when arriving a Saturday afternoon was that it resulted in a long line of people waiting for an available table and as the space inside the doors is minimal it was difficult to even squeeze in and past all the people that had no reservations. Once that was done we were however promptly seated - staff were great at creating some extra space for us as well as we had our baby and her stroller with us (which I forgot to tell them about when reserving). We were seated in the inner room so no view of the street but on the other hand one can look into the open kitchen. While we were studying the menu we were looking around at what people at the other table's were having and the sandwiches and pastries all looked delicious but we went for the sparkling afternoon tea (to get both some sandwiches and pastries). The house champagne is from Swedish owned champagne house Hatt et Söner and for the afternoon tea they serve the 2006 Blanc de Blancs. I have heard a lot about Hatt et Söner before (mostly negative) so expectations were not that high - still I would say that it was a rather pleasant surprise. The nose was fresh with a hint av yellow apple, peach and tropical fruit. It is dry but with a hint of sweetness coming from a flavor of apple, and fruit notes. Hint of mineral and toastiness. A pretty decent champagne and considering the relative low price to add a glass it was good value (regular afternoon tea is 259 SEK and with champagne 329 SEK). The tea selection was pretty good - we all tried different teas and all of them were fairly good. The afternoon tea as such consisted of two different sandwiches (chicken and salmon), a paté, some shrimps on bread, scones (with butter, lemon curd, jam) and a variety of pastries (mini danish pastries, cinnamon rolls, carrot cake, raspberry mousse cake and chocolate truffle). Not a huge amount of food but all of us were rather pleased with what we got. The food was not innovative and it was not the best I ever had but still good quality and tasty. Service was good up until the end when we asked for the bill and then had to wait 10 minutes, then remind them and then it still took a few minutes before it arrived. Always annoys me that there is no attention from the staff when I just want to pay and leave. All in all still a very nice place and I will be back - it is more like 3,5 stars but still feel that it would be wrong to just give it 3 so therefore it gets 4 stars. read more

This is a fantastic new cafe. Amazing pastries, great service and a fun atmosphere. It reminds me of classic old French cafe's from Paris, Italy or Buenos Aires. It is already always full and you can watch them make pastries in the back. It's open late as well. read more

We stumbled on this place near our hotel when we visited Stockholm last summer. At the time we were looking for a cafe with great pastries. After having a great cup of coffee and a fantastic pastry we decided to come back for dinner another day. The food was just as good as the pastries we enjoyed previously. They serve great champagne by the glass so you can sip, eat and watch people walking by on a busy shopping street. No cars. The food is very fresh and of high quality and the service was great. Servers went above and beyond to accommodate you. Too bad smoking is allowed in outdoor cafes in Stockholm. We live in an area where smoking is not allowed anywhere inside, outside or near a food establishment and wish Stockholm would do the same. It would increase business and protect the health of staff and guests. We will go back to this place when we are back in Stockholm again. Hope it will still be open. read more

I ordered a cup of hot water coz I felt a bit cold, the waitress asked "With lemon?" and I said " Sure!" So I received one cup of hot water with two slices of lemon in it, and they charged me 35kr! And the worst part was the waiter and waitress' horrible attitude!!! They never mentioned two slices of lemon cost 35kr but they firmly believed they did nothing wrong. First of all, I am a frequent customer after being a local for 6 years and this cafe used to be a favorite spot of mine when i meet my friends. BUT TODAY I DECIDED NOT TO COME BACK AGAIN: my friend got charged for 35kr for hot water without being told in advance today, and more ridiculously it was written on the receipt as "Öppen Butik" ----35kr, which literarily means "open shop" in English, plus a really bad attitude when we asked for what exatly we were paying for. I quote, one of waiters said: "have you ever been to McDonald? Of course we will charge you if you drink anything from us." This is really UNPROFESSIONAL and a bad example he made. As a very popular cafe in Östermalm, you might have many celabrities and rish people's visits and they won't even look at the receipt or don't care about what they are paying for. But in my oppion, you do need to specify in your receipt what is the actual service the customers are paying for. Plus, do not think people don't read Swedish so you can blame everthing on the customer. We are not rich people but we are not poor either, we can afford that money but INFORMATION NEEDS TO BE TOLD IN ADVANCE and when you made mistake, admit it and improve. Unfortunatly, I can't see that from you today. And, people, if you happen to read through this review, I can garantee this is not the only bad feedback on their service, and I can tell you there are definitely more chic and cool cafes in Stockholm :-) Good Luck. read more

We found ourselves looking for dinner after visiting the Hallwylska Museet, but were at a loss wandering around for a casual dinner in what seemed to be the high fashion district of Stockholm. We were excited to stumble upon this cafe, which seems appropriate for anytime of day! They not only have dinner but also brunch food, pastries, desserts, and a full bar! We were a little uncertain as to what to expect for dinner since it was a cafe but were pleasantly surprised to receive quality food in large portions! We tried the Swedish meatballs, the Wiener schnitzel, gnocchi, and the goat cheese salad. My dish of the goat cheese salad was very filling. The price may seem high for a salad, but it is because the place a hockey puck-sized baked cheese round on top! The service also included complimentary bread and butter. We got a small cake to go, which was light and delicious. The black currant mousse was perfectly tart to pair with the rich chocolate cake and salted caramel filling. If I were to return, I would get the hot chocolate. It looks like it might be the best in town!! read more
