Jacob and Lori at Paws Across West Michigan have been wonderful! They came to our home initially to meet with us and and get to know our dog. He took to them right away! I think dogs just know who other dog people are! He loves to play fetch and they were happy to oblige! We were also nervous about how he would feel while we left him for our trip but Jacob and Lori were terrific about sending us pictures of him to help to put our minds at ease. Made notes of anything that may be usual. Michael even took extra steps such as bringing in the mail and taking out the trash. Every day we got a text with a picture of Remy from Michael. Those picture texts help relieve any anxiety we had about leaving Remy. We saw pictures of Remy eating (our biggest concern), and looking happy in general. All of this service for the same cost as I would expect anyone to to tip a neighbor or friend for less work. Dog Days Kalamazoo is insured and bonded. This place takes advantage of people in despair, worried about their fur family member…read more They took my dog from my hands as soon as i walked in and I didn't have her for the duration of my visit there. It was traumatic for me and I can tell you it was probably way more for my sick dog. When "the doctor" came in after the "exam" he told me he saw maybe something on her gums but wasn't really sure until they did test; he was going to send someone in with a diagnosis plan. The person that came in was not educated with what she was presenting to me but gave me an estimate of roughly $1,800 for blood tests and things as extreme as an IV and catheter. I still have no idea what they thought was wrong with my dog. I said I wasn't going to do all of those things just to find out, the girl offered that maybe I could just do the hydration & that was $39. She said she would go put a new "diagnosis plan" together and come back. I still do not have my very sick dog with me, the lady comes back and the $39 hydration was now $98 I asked her why it changed and she said she didn't know... I asked her to find out. She left and came back and explained that the process would change if they didn't do the $1,800 plan, so it would be more. At that time I demanded they bring me my dog and I left paying the exam fee for absolutely nothing! This experience is remanent of an ASPEN dental Experience in the early 2000's where they take advantage of your lack of knowledge and fear to make an extra dollar. I took her there because I was so scared and my vet couldn't get me in until later in the day. I went to my vet appointment a few hours and paid $75 for meds and diagnosis and a clear path to a bill of health. Without invasive tests or IV & catheters. After paying for the "exam" at VCA... I walked away with nothing more than a bad taste in my mouth.

This is the super poshest day spa for your dog…read more The grounds are gigantic, lush, and high fenced so dogs can run off leash to their hearts content. It is super soul nourishing just to watch the dogs run with wild abandon across this enormous expanse of space. If your dog prefers water to land, no problem. They also have a separate fenced-off pond area. They've recently added in a little pub area call the Thirsty Hound, and they've applied for a liquor license for it. It's got a nice little fenced-in patio area what a beautiful view of the grounds, pond, and the sunset. And to top that off, on Tuesdays they have food trucks come in and set up shop in the parking lot. Truly a Nirvana for both dogs and their owners.

I will never use Gillette Kennel ever again. My two dogs were boarded together. One ended up stressed and attacked my other dog, missed placed aggression. Understand that can't be avoided at all times...the issue became the one stressed began being treated incredibly poorly. If you have an animal you know they read your emotion, your anger, your body language. I know this is what happened based on the dialog with staff. In addition, while we were out of the country I was VERY CLEAR on any issues that arise to contact my daughter immediately. INSTEAD, one dog was treated poorly, no out time and NO medical care. The other dog was petrified and full anxiety. His wounds did get cleaned. NOBODY contacted my daughter and no vet care until I was back. I immediately took them to the vet. The vet agreed they should have had the vet care after the occurrence. I had dialog with the "owner" that everyone raves about. He had NOTHING to say. I sent him the photos of the injuries. NO CONTACT back afterward. When I went to pick up the dogs one of the COMPLETLEY UNPROFFESIONAL "staff" members told my husband to go get the dog that did not receive any attention at all. She said she he was crazy, aggressive and wanted "nothing to do with him". How do you think he felt about you!? Another employee came out, again completely unprofessional and spouted about how terrible they were, on and on and on. I actually wanted to tell her to shut the "you know what up". But instead I ignored her and remained calm and professional. Getting both dogs to the car it was clear that beyond needing immediate medical care that they would both need a TON of emotional healing. One shaking and in a daze, literally and the "terrible" one just wanted to be held. He melted into my lap like he had been in hell. Extensive conversation with Mr. Gillette mounted in NOTHING. He was not present during the time my dogs were there. Accountability for your own staff would have been nice, and I would not have left the clearly untrained staff in charge. I am not looking for feedback from others regarding the post, or others to assess a situation in which they weren't present. I am posting this to purely communicate my experience and allow for those looking for dog boarding to read all experiences beyond the "excellent" reviews. Thank you Wendy
