I drive through here often on my way home from work, and it REALLY is the definition of a "gem in the ROUGH!!" There's TONS of history here, hidden away in the broken down boathouses just BEGGING to be restored to their former glory. There's a few large picnic pavilions, a dog park, a community garden, a busy playground and spray-ground for the kiddies, and so much more. A few years back, they created some "rapids" for kayakers, but it has very sadly been abandoned/not kept up. The park is the setting for a number of 5K races every year (Mr. M&P even "ran" a few...) and it's also the home of the wonderful Springfield Art Museum. Annual events like the Summer Arts Fest and the Food Truck Competition are VERY popular, but this place STILL (IMO...) gets no respect. Take a detour during the sunset hours, bring your pooch to the dog park, your kids to the playground, or just take a walk to clear your head. Give this "old girl" the respect she deserves...!! I went down the stone stairs ... they were slippery but was glad i still could manage them. They have changed things ... added wooden pathways and more water at the bottom of the stairs. I'd hoped walk to both waterfalls. But wearing new shoes and saw it was muddy. So just headed back up the stairs to the car. They have bird feeders at the buildings. Nice place to hike. This was her first time being able to run free in a larger than yard size area and she loved it! It has a nice shelter house to keep you out of the sun. The pond edges are shallow enough the dogs can wade in and you can stand in the water as well. You bring your own poop bags and chairs and toys but there were lots of balls scattered around. I have two girls and one is dog reactive and the other has a noisy play style so traditional dog parks aren't an option for us. Mutt's is a private dog park that you pay for by the hour to have the entire place to yourself. I couldn't believe it when I heard it! It is $10/hr per dog and you have the entire place to yourself. There's a pond, a paddle boat, a little shelter area for shade, an agility course, a human bathroom (porta pot), and all the space needed to run your dog ragged. The park owner is quick to respond when booking and always has poop bags, water, and toys for the pups. We always take our own, but it's nice to know he has some as well. You can book longer than an hour at a time, but our girls go hard quick so an hour is sufficient. The only down side is that we live in downtown Columbus and it's on the north side of Delaware so it's about 45 mins one way. But it really is worth it!

It's truly a big, happy place for dogs! I've never seen so many happy dogs. Literally running, frolicking, rolling around enjoying themselves. Not only were the pets enjoying themselves, the owners were too. It has a real sense of community. People were friendly, they knew each other and each others pets. Very cool! What's really nice is the creative use of land. This was once a landfill. Don't worry, there are no foul odors! There are three areas. Two smaller areas, one with training equipment, a regular sized area and a huge hill. When I say huge, I also mean steep. This is a really steep hill. Luckily you have the option of staying on the flat areas where the two other enclosed areas are. All areas are grassy, offer seating and water. What's also nice is the walking path. The paved path is lengthy enough (6 acres of park space) to where it is great exercise for both owners and pets. The only downside is the hill is so big that you can lose sight of your dog. My dog was enjoying herself so much, she ran off with a pack of playful dogs. She never does this. I definitely got my exercise looking for her. So for exercise, a chance to meet other dog lovers I strongly suggest visiting this park. If you see a large friendly white labradoodle playing around, you've come at a great time. The Park is adjacent to The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center on Webster St. Exit 62 on I 75.The Park is divided into three connecting sections plus has an agility course. Water is available throughout the Park. You can always help out filling the buckets! Normal rules apply. No dogs in heat. No aggressive dogs. No dogs under 4 months - dogs need to be vaccinated. As with many dog parks, there are the regulars. Most are welcoming. Most people are well versed in dog behaviors and don't freak out when dogs wrestle and play. The Park is large and your dog can run! Not to say that the dogs won't ignore all the space and play around your feet instead! The Park is built on an old ash mound as the County incinerated trash for decades. Because of that, there is little shade available as trees cannot be planted. There is a gazebo structure at top with tables. DO NOT BRING FOOD into Park. All tables and agility equipment are made from recycled materials. Great re-use of space.

So have to grab the moments before it hits. This day was a wind storm right before the bitter cold was back. I walked around and even walked the trails with a friend. So good to be outside. The flowers were lovely but the wind was fierce. This park does such a great job keeping everything lovely which I so appreciate and its a fav of mine for years. So many special memories here. Please be courteous and dont pick the flowers. This isn't your yard and if everyone picked just one there would be none for the next to enjoy. I saw parents promoting their children to pick flowers and filming it. . This is so selfish and rude. Am I wrong?
