I cannot say better things about Wild Asparagus. I am a self proclaimed "bad bride" - I was so unaware of what I needed or how to ask for it. Not only did Meg keep us on track, but she genuinely put the most "white glove" touch on every aspect of our experience. The service and coordination were outstanding, but the best part is the one thing we keep hearing post wedding is "that was the best wedding food i've ever had" OR "that didn't even seem like wedding food it was so good". I purchased appetizers from the freezer after seeing the piece on WGN. I got the pesto pistachio cheese puffs and the beef Wellington. I wanted to try them out before the holidays. I am so glad I did. The cheese puffs are good and very rich. A layer of crème cheese w pesto sandwiched between like a Parmesan puff pastry. The beef Wellington were small round balls filled with what my husband described as pot roast. I thought it would be a small piece of tenderloin with the duxelles wrapped in puff pastry. The meat was a shaved beef. At $36 a dozen it definitely not worth the money to serve at a party. All in all, I would not buy again. They won't make it to my holiday party! I am sure their catering is wonderful but the individual frozen apps are not worth the drive! read more

I have used Wild Asparagus twice now, and can't say enough good things about them! The first party, we ordered appetizers, picked them up and served them ourselves. The food was really good and it made for a super easy party. The second party we had a full brunch catered and served by Wild Asparagus. Outstanding!!!! The food was amazing and plentiful, but the staff (one chef and one server) really took the experience to the next level! They were attentive, friendly and SO good at their jobs!! By the time they left they had cleaned up, packaged all leftovers, assisted guests with coats and drinks etc. Truly next level -- I can't recommend this caterer highly enough! read more

We heard good things about the food, but needed ours "to go" and hoped to be able to enjoy for the next 2 days of a girls trip away. The food was fantastic. Great value and tasted delicious - (breakfast quiches in the AM, various types of wraps w orzo salad for lunch, and full korean tacos w various salad and then other dinner coconut shrimp.) This time we had Meg, who coordinated beautifully and dealt so well with my frazzled calls and always being behind, Austin, our chef who made amazing dishes and did a wonderful job with timing the food perfectly and Julie, server extraordinaire, who went above and beyond to make our settings gorgeous and kept our guests full and happy! I couldn't be more pleased with Wild Asparagus! What an incredible job they did for our event. We had passed hors d'oeuvres and a bar set up for about 50 people and they did a tremendous job. The staff was amazing, they were organized, professional and just the nicest people on top of that. The appetizers were amazing - everyone complimented the food. They were familiar with the venue and were on top of all the details. We wanted to do things a tiny bit different and they just worked with us. We had the following: Shredded Pork Empanada's, Sauted Asparagus in Lemon & Seasoning, Pure 'Delicious -in-the-Mouth' Cheese Puff's, Rare Beef Fillet with choice of Horse -Radish Sauce or Dijoń Mustard, In a small asian container, a fix of, Wild Salad, Fisher Nuts, with Strawberries, Blueberries, Mandarin Oranges Feta Cheese, with a light Balsamic Vinaigrette. Chicken Satay. Libations were of your choice--Yey!!! and Dessert's consisted of a medley of various chocolate and fruit options with a Pot of freshly Brewed Coffee and all condiments. They truly went above and beyond! Sheila and crew are incredibly organized, professional, detail-oriented, an always quick to respond to any question or request. Throughout the entire planning process, Sheila was such a calming and joy-filled presence, even when dealing with last minute or unexpected changes as to the number of guests or dietary needs and restrictions. We hired Wild Asparagus for our wedding in June and honestly cannot say enough positive things about them! We worked mainly with Sheila, and she was incredibly attentive, flexible, and helpful. Our venue was one that they have worked with frequently, and they knew exactly everything that we would need for the day of! We had 2 different bar locations, and they moved everything from cocktail hour to the reception bar promptly and without issue! The food turned out incredible - and exactly how it was during our tasting. We received so many compliments from our guests on the service and food. We actually had some guests trying to bribe the staff for the garlic puff recipe, and another one who even went home and tried to recreate them! We were beyond impressed with the setup and service during dinner, and they even went out of their way to set up our cookie table with our own cookies we brought. They handled it like pros and it really took a lot of stress off of us. I can't imagine our day being so perfect without the incredible service and positive attitude from Wild Asparagus. We plan to use them in the future for any other catered events! read more

This is a long overdue recommendation for Wild Asparagus Catering and a shout out for Debra Roberts, one of its Owners. for on Pepper Road in Lake Barrington. Earlier this year after I called her in a pinch to get a couple of takeout lunches to eat in the car en route to the city With a friend who is doing me a huge favor by driving me because of some recent medical issues. Even though it was near closing time she was able to pull Together a couple of wonderful boxed meals and included a Desert even though none was asked for. I was blown away by both the food and it's presentation. Despite the fact that it was a boxed meal. Debrah went above and beyond For me even though it was the end of her day and entirely last minute. I continue to be most grateful for this act of kindness. If you haven't tried them for catering at least stop in and pick up a couple of their frozen appetizers for your next event. They have the best soup!! You can stop in and choose from a variety of flavors by the quart!! Price is very fair as well. I'm obsessed with this place! I am so disappointed in this business. I physically went to their location, sat down with a salesperson and discussed my catering needs on October 16 for a November 10 event. We picked out 3 or 4 cold appetizers. She took ALL my contact information and said she would have a quote emailed to me the next day. She was also going to get the number of slices in their pizzas for me so I could decide if I wanted to include those in my order. Imagine my surprise when the next time I heard from anyone at this business was November 8! I emailed around November 2 but no response. I called on November 8 and was called back that afternoon. They tried to tell me that they sent an email but it bounced. I asked why they didn't call and the response was they get request for quotes online all the time and many times they don't get the business. I explained again that I had met with a salesperson and picked out what was going to be served. They said they were sorry and that was it. I guess they have more business then they can handle because they sure didn't care about mine. I scrambled to contract with someone else for my event and luckily it went off without a hitch. Proceed with caution if you use this business because you might be as disappointed as I am. read more

It was incredibly important to my husband and I to have delicious food at our wedding, and also to have several options (we have some vegan and gluten-free guests, myself included). Wild Asparagus was the only catering company that we did an actual tasting with, and we were sold instantly! The food was SO delicious, all of our guests loved it. We were, unfortunately, a "covid couple", and we had to postpone our wedding a year due to the pandemic. During that time, there were a few very small price changes to the contract, and one very large one (the price of the steak medallions more than doubled). We were really disappointed that they weren't able to honor the pre-pandemic pricing that was in our contract - HOWEVER, we were able to make a change to the menu and everything ended up being truly delicious and wonderful. There were a few staffing changes that happened during this time as well, and one that happened about 3 weeks before our wedding (the main coordinator switched from Kelly to Sheila, due to personal reasons). They were INCREDIBLE during this transition, and Sheila was such a joy to work with!! We could tell we were in such good hands, which was a huge relief. Even though there were some bumps along the way (which is valid, it was a pandemic afterall), we are so incredibly glad we went with Wild Asparagus for our wedding caterer! P.S. - If you go with them, get the cheese puffs and potato puffs...our guests are STILL raving about them!!! read more

I did not use this caterer as a client, but I was a guest at a wedding they served. The food was wonderful, high attention to detail and presentation, and the staff made a very smooth set up and service of buffet station, passed appetizers, and a gorgeous and delicious dessert buffet. This was on one of the hottest days of the year, in a tent down hill from the staging area, and with some soggy ground conditions. Their staff kept smiles and spirits high and the food coming regularly. Even behind the scenes they appeared calm and discreet. As a guest, super impressed. Great job, guys! read more

Wild Asparagus catered the memorial service for my father. We found them on-line and had only two days to place the order prior. Further, the service was held the Saturday of the coldest days in Chicago history. The grocery stores were empty of fresh vegg and fruit so the caterers were not confident the food would be available. Yet, they pulled it off beautifully and the food was wonderful. The asparagus was terrific and the roasted turkey and tenderloin sandwiches were divine. We are so grateful to this wonderful, kind and excellent catering business. read more

I have used Wild often but something has changed. I ordered for a large dinner party before Christmas and sides for Christmas Eve and was so disappointed with both. The food and presentation for my dinner party were not appealing. A grilled piece of chicken, asparagus​, and some fingerling potatoes that no one ate. The staff was great...I would give the 5 stars but the food one star. I did voice my concerns and was told they would pass along my comments. Not much satisfaction for a $1500 bill. Last year five stars but this year not so many. Perhaps they just grew too fast. read more
