It is the absence of one of the grates that makes it troublesome, as I miss either the top grate to hang yours or the bottom that prevents the bird from contact with their poop. The bowls are missing (fine I'll deal), it was a mess when I received it, the drawer is bent, and they are impossible to reach. All of the other groomers are also super sweet and helpful. I have never experienced anything other than delightful customer service. They are flexible and understanding when I've had to change appointments and patient when Luna feels nervous. I've always been happy with her haircut/bath results. Out of the approx. 10 times Luna has been groomed, they ONCE forgot to clip her nails, which they happily rectified free of charge and they ONCE accidentally clipped one side of her eyelashes while clipping her face. That was also rectified and they grew back and are even after a couple months. Not a big deal and I LOVE her long eyelashes... so that's saying a lot. The pricing is fair. I would highly recommend giving them a chance if you're looking for a new groomer.

I called a number of stores in the area for general quotes and timeline estimates - I was quoted upwards of $85 (up to $135) with quotes for 1-2 week turnaround times just to replace a clasp. I was leaving for a trip the next week and found him to be the most direct and pleasant to speak with on the phone, and his turn around times the most competitive. I dropped the item by for repair the next morning and he had already set the two clasps aside. To my surprise he quickly repaired while I waited and it ended up being only about half of what other shops quoted me for. He has a long family history in the Richmond area and was a delight to work with- also has a funny little bird in the shop. You don't have experiences like this much anymore, so I want to give him credit and will go out of my way to go back if I need jewelry repaired. The associates were not friendly with me or the other customer in line.

As for the animals in the store, it's hit or miss. Sometimes there's a good selection and other times the variety is very limited. Still, it's a pretty solid place overall with good people working there, even if the prices and training effectiveness keep me from giving a full five stars.

After briefly examining it, she came back and said she couldn't groom him because the knot was too close to the ear and recommended that I take him to a vet. The problem was that it wasn't a knot at all--it was simply some tangled hair. I was confused and asked if they could at least groom the rest of him, but I was told no and that I would need to go to another groomer or a veterinarian. It made no sense to me that an entire grooming service would be refused over what turned out to be such a minor issue. When we got home, my wife combed the tangled hair out in less than two minutes. That made the recommendation to see a vet seem completely unnecessary. The whole experience left me feeling like they weren't interested in helping or finding a solution. I left frustrated, disappointed, and questioning whether they genuinely care about their customers and the work they do.
