The design is clean, modern, and genuinely pleasant to move through--big windows, fresh finishes, and that polished "new airport smell" that makes travel feel a little less chaotic. The problem hits once you reach the gate areas. They're consistently congested, even at times that shouldn't be peak. Seating disappears fast, people cluster in every walkway, and the whole zone takes on that "everyone's waiting for the same delayed flight" energy even when operations are running on time. It's not mismanaged; it's just undersized for the traffic it's pulling. Staff are friendly, security moves quickly, and the overall experience is still solid. But the crowding keeps the terminal from living up to how nice it looks. A comfortable 4 stars--great aesthetics, good service, but the gate congestion is impossible to ignore.

Don said he would have the car at the airport, in the public area on the night of 7/8 (when we were to arrive), with the keys above the visor and that he would meet my wife and I at our hotel the next morning to sign the papers. My instructions were to call upon arrival and he would identify the car. This sounded a bit odd but maybe that's the way a small business might do things in a smaller town, like Kalispell. On 7/8 I sent Don a text message with the details of our trip and asked for a confirmation which he did confirm. Our flight was 2 hours late so we arrived at 11:00 PM instead of 9:00 PM. I called Don's number several times but there was no answer. We took a taxi to our hotel, which cost $25.00. The next morning I called Don and he at first seemed a bit out of touch, expecting that we would be arriving the 9th instead of the 8th - so much for the confirmation, I thought to myself. He then went on to tell me how the car had been totaled and his office ransacked, he was having a horrible day, and that he would have to call me in a couple of hours to make arrangements. I told my wife this was beginning to sound like a Country Western song and I was uneasy with the whole thing. I asked the hotel manager what she knew of Practical Rent a Car and she knew nothing. More or less instinctively she called the number for the business and asked where they were located. Don answered and fired back the question "Why do you want to know!" to which she replied "because I have a couple who need a car" Much to our chagrin Don's response was something along the line "I don't appreciate you calling before normal business hours" and hung up. A couple of minutes later Don called me stating he did not appreciate me having somebody call and harass him and that I would have to find a rental somewhere else. My wife, the manager and I sort of looked at each other, a bit bemused, having to admit this something of a memorable incident. At that my wife and I took the opportunity to see some of Kalispell and walked to Enterprise Rentals on the other side of town. I have to give some sort of rating so I'll give Don and Practical Rent a Car one star for originality.

So highly recommend this location. The rooms are large and expansive with room for you to spread…read moreout and be comfortable, fresh and free coffee and tea 24/7 and breakfast and parking included. The location is wonderful bc it's only 20 minutes from the West Glacier park entrance and tons of nearby hiking as well as the towns of Whitefish and Kalispell which have tons of shopping, dining, and adventure in winter and summer. It's also close to some things in the smaller town of Columbia where it is located like Montana Coffee Traders which you can actually just walk to from the hotel and Cowgirl coffee. There are also gas stations and other shops nearby if you need a few things. The gal at check-in was amazing and kind and had our room ready for us with my third floor request checked in despite our super late check-in (11pm) and they were always happy and greeted us kindly when we came and went. There is a small (2 washers and 2 dryers) laundry room on the 2nd floor where you can wash your clothes. They're old and only have like 2 settings but if your things are funky after long hikes like ours, it's a lifesaver. They sell detergent and dryer sheets in a pack for $2 at the lobby. Prices are extremely fair for this nearby location to the park and for the amenities provided and size of the room. Note: I took a star away bc we stayed four days and they absolutely refused to do a room refresh. At day two I asked to have towels and trash taken care of and was told that we could put the trash outside the room and they would leave fresh towels in a shopping bag by our door. What?! I've been traveling a lot and they're milking the COVID thing for all it is worth. 4 days in a hotel is a long time to have no cleaning whatsoever. I understand every other day, or upon request, but that was a bit much and I didn't like it. Hire the staff, go back to cleaning rooms. We spent two weeks on this trip and this was the only hotel that pulled this crap.

The bathroom was amazing Someone FINALLY got it right Toilet paper in the right spot . Didn't have to throw my back out teaching for it. The shower was nice size with everything you need right at your finger tips. Even the bath mat was great. No throwing a towel on the floor. All the small things you take for granted were addressed. You get behind the scenes tour of where you stop. We went to the new Sun Rift Brewery in Kalispell. Super cool new Brewery with a great atmosphere. Our second stop was Brass Tap. They have over 30 local beers on Tap and the last was Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits. Tom the distiller gave a great tour of the distillery. You get to taste at each stop or a cocktail/beer. The entire trip was about 4.5 hours but we met great people. The owners were super nice people and did a great job. I highly recommend you take a tour.
