I like all their pies (both savory and sweet pies).
I ordered a takeout of 4 meat pies (Farmer, Hiker, Mountaineer, Wildfire) 2 deserts (Kea and Weka) and one pastry snack (Pork sausage roll).
Their homemade pastry had a nice thick texture. It was both flaky and moist and the same time.
Farmer: Well balanced in spices, mellow caramelized onion, perfectly match with the slightly burnt taste from the beef.
Mountaineer: Good blend of meat, gravy, and mash potatoes. It was velvety and savory.
Wildfire: Almost felt like eating chili con carne. Hearty (the amount of filling was good) and nice meaty flavor. If I have to choose, I prefer this one than Mountaineer.
Hiker: Reminded me of chicken jook (Chinese chicken porridge). The chicken chunks, bacon, and mashed mushroom gave this pie a mild and earthy flavor that screams "Great winter meal".
Weka: An apple/rhubarb pie. Not too sweet. The pastry was great. Filling to pastry ratio was good. Had a light, delicate cinnamon flavor.
Kea: An apple/berry pie. The blend of apple and berry was refreshing. It slightly tangy and sweet. The apple was crunchy. Also had a good amount of filling.
Pork sausage roll was great as well. Very well seasoned and salty (up to my level). Had a nice smell, was so appetizing.
Overall, I would have preferred the pies with a bit more salt, but otherwise, they were all great. I would order the other pies next time I come by.
For the price of 49kr for one pie (149kr for 4 pies) and 29kr for each sweet pies and the snack. I definitely think is not expensive and it is fulfilling.
I do think if you order just 1 pie it won't be satisfying. So, order 2 pies or 1 pie + one sweet pie :) read more
