We recently went with some friends to Wild Rose to go riding. We hadn't rode horses since we were kids and some hadn't ever been on a horse before. The staff was more than awesome. We really enjoyed our time out there. The horses are very well trained and the country was beautiful. It was a very memorable trip and we will return. We have a PHENOMENAL experience here. My exchange students are leaving the country on Thursday. On Tuesday I realized we never got around to getting them on horseback during their time here, which they asked about last fall. I scrambled and found Wild Rose. Made an online booking for them for today (Wednesday) and it couldn't have been easier. From the time we got there the staff was VERY welcoming, friendly, informative, and helpful. The girls hadn't ridden since they were small children (pony rides) and they got to go out on the trails, through creeks, etc. They had an unforgettable American experience, and the cost was extremely reasonable. I spent the time during their ride in the stables chatting with Dan, the farrier. I learned a lot about horses and what goes into shoeing them. It was amazing to watch Dan work his craft, and the attention to detail that goes into shoeing a horse is WAY more than you'd ever believe. I wish I'd taken the girls here last fall - we'd have been back dozens of times over the school year, I'm sure. I can't recommend Wild Rose enough! read more

I booked a trail ride as part of my sister's bachelorette party and we had an amazing experience!! We got to go on a 1 hour trail ride through the woods, open grass, across streams, and up and down hills. The horses were amazing and knew what they were there to do. The trail guides also made the experience so much fun! Definitely going back to do another trail ride in the future! read more

We absolutely loved our trail ride! Ava and Grace were our guides and they did such a wonderful job. The horses were all extremely well trained and the girls matched us up with our horses perfectly (my horse was TopGun, a very bossy and sassy old fella who liked to snack... I loved him immediately). We were given clear instruction and encouraged to ask questions at any time. The ride was through all kinds of native terrain (creeks, heavily treed areas, fields, hills, all with plenty of shade). The horses handled each obstacle like pros. From expert to brand new rider you can confidently complete & truly enjoy this ride without worry. My tips: 1. wear old comfy closed toed shoes. 2. remember you are working WITH an animal to traverse the terrain, it's not like driving a car 3. the riding directions are simple, but very effective, listen to your guide, they know how the horse has been trained 4. tip your guides, it's really a lot of work before, after and during your ride, lots of behind the scenes work read more

For $50 my partner and I had a custom trail ride for over an hour on horses Top Gun and Cowboy lead by the wonderfully pleasant and calm guide Stephanie. I hadn't ridden in a few years but have plenty of experience while my partner had never so much as pet a horse, yet Stephanie navigated this huge chasm in our experience levels expertly! We started out for a few minutes (after she already tacked up the horses- no work by us which was great!) getting our sea legs going around in a pen and coming up to a trot as well. Then we headed out on an adventure that became the shining light in my partner and I's limited time together in one city- and that is saying a lot since we've been trying to cram as much as we can into one week! We traversed through the shade of beautiful green woods, our rides calmly crossing creeks and navigating over logs with ease while we struggled to wipe the silly grins off of our faces. The horses were incredibly at home and used to all of this yet absolutely nowhere near the zombie dead-in-the-eyes trail ponies you'd ridden at many a birthday party where even a bomb couldn't get the animal to pass a walking pace. We got to open grassy fields and Stephanie allowed us to trot and even canter as we felt comfortable- no pressure either way. The freedom to canter again after so long outside of the saddle is indescribable. I really can't say enough about how truly fantastic this ride was. My partner and I had an adrenaline rush, gorgeous scenic tour, and relaxing outing together all in one. This is a must try for newbies and experienced riders alike! read more

Chance was very helpful and taught us what to do before we went out:) We really enjoyed our afternoon and we were able to relax even with three children (between the ages of 5-8 years old. They were all on their own horses!). The guides were very knowledgeable and accommodating. We also took some time to feed the pigs, goats, and other horses. Soooo fun!! I recently purchased a Living Social voucher to go horseback riding. ($15 for an hour - usually $30.) Can you say Yee-haw!? It was about a 30 minute drive north of the city. I had called to make a reservation at 1pm. We arrived right at 1 and found our way to the cabin where you check in. There was quite a few people there so we just waited a few minutes. My friend had forgotten her voucher but the guy checking us in was kind enough to look it up online for us...so she still got to use it. The guide that was going to take us was standing there eating her lunch - not so professional - but it's horseback riding. If you want professionalism, skip the gravel road and dusty path and head downtown for the salon. You'll wanna wear jeans and flat shoes. And not your best tennies, cuz we all know what comes out the other end. Yep, I said it. Once everyone was checked in we headed over to where the horses were and our guide got on one and gave us a demo. This was very helpful. I've been to other places that get you on the horse and try to give you instructions after that. A little harder for those that have never been on a horse to concentrate. I did find it strange that they didn't ask if we'd ever ridden or what our experience was, but apparently they feel their horses are trained well enough. I'm just never one to underestimate an animal's power. But since there were 4 and 5 year olds doing it... We got moving at about 1:40. We started on trails, sometimes in a pasture and sometimes in the woods. Not exceptionally beautiful scenery but possibly at other times of the year it might be. Our horses walked for the whole hour, which I believe is common at most places...but I would have really liked to have a bit of a trot or even a gallop. I don't know if that's something you can schedule outside of a general lesson or not. In general it was a fun experience but I've had my fill for while. Only so much walking you can do. I guess the more you go the more you might earn the right to do a little more. This was great for first timers. read more

This was a great find for us. Spending a staycation in KC we brought our 4 kids out for an hour trail ride and it didn't disappoint. They were very patient with our kids skill levels and talked them through every thing. Our 4 year old rode with the leader and when our oldest was unsure about the ride, they immediately offered another employee to lead him and talk him down. We try to get out when traveling and love animals, this was a very nice experience. Our tour guide was very friendly, informative and not too over the top which we have had. We don't have a ton of experience ridden maybe a half dozen times, this was a nice blend of open space, hills and valleys and nature. Good break from the every day stuff. This place was so awesome! We took our 4 kiddos with us. They had been dying to ride horses so they were very excited. Our oldest son is 10 and autistic and once he got on the horse he panicked. The owners son, Des, came out and led him around and talked to him until he was calm. It was amazing. The leader was awesome and we had a blast! My husband gave me this groupon for our anniversary, while I used to ride often, I have not riden in a number of years. We were slightly late causing the group to wait, but they were very nice about it. We were treated very well. Warning, it is a very gravel road to get there, we would have taken a different car. The horses are well trained and the tour guides were excellent. The ride has enought challenges to make it interesting without being too difficult for beginners. Overall, very dissatisfied with Wild Rose's service. Me and my friends and family have been trying to plan a trip to Wild Rose as a birthday gift for months now. It took months to find a time where all of us were available and free for a couple of hours. We were all looking forward to the ride, as it would be a majority of the riders first time. We ended up booking a ride today, around 2:30 (also the last ride of the day). We had gotten to the center and it had seemed like we were the only ones there. We noticed that there were two young girls and no adults visible. Because we arrived early, we were told to look around until our ride. When 2:30 hit, we stood by the horses, waiting for our ride. About five minutes later, the girls walked out and gave us instruction. This would be the first of the three times that the girls had said something to us. We were assigned horses and begun our ride. All seemed fine until we arrived back at the barn. We looked at our watches and saw that we had only been out on our ride for about 30 minutes. I had reminded the girl that we paid for an hour long ride and she shrugged it off and told me that the ride was complete. I kindly asked the other employee what was going on and she said nothing. Once we had gotten off of the horses, I spoke to the other girl, once-more. She had told me that we had gotten off early due to weather conditions. So, we respectfully left. Fast forward to when we got home, I had spoke to my parents about what had happened. My father had coordinated the ride and booked the trip, so he called the center and was redirected to the manager. Dez, the manager, had told us that the girls had told him that we were being extremely disrespectful and we were not listening to the "commands" that were being given to us. Not only were we not given commands or tips, but they had not said a word to us the entire time. Me being a more experienced rider, and someone who has been working with horses for about five years now, had tried to help my friends out several times by giving them small tips to get going. But not one time did the girls tell us that we were doing anything wrong or told us to stop doing anything. The manager also noted that the girls had told us that our ride was cut short due to trotting. Because most of the group was inexperienced, they did not understand what trotting meant. The lack of instruction and guidance was definitely the prime factor of this issue and it would be immature to blame the group for not understanding what the term meant. By the time that the call had ended, Dez told us that we would not be refunded or given a free ride, which is a prime example of their poor customer service. At the end of the day, the employees actions were unacceptable this afternoon. I am very saddened and disappointed that this situation had been handled so poorly. As I have been riding at Wild Rose for years now. I can assure you that I will not be returning or recommending this facility to anybody. I would definitely recommend Pine Creek! As their customer service is incredible and their instructors are kind and educational. In other words, what Wild Rose lacks and could learn from. read more

I purchased 4 Groupons for a 1 hour trail ride for $15 each (regularly $30). They were for myself and my husband along with our 2 girls, ages 6 & 8. I called to schedule and had no problem whatsoever (which is not always the case with a groupon). When we arrived we were promptly greeted, I reviewed & signed a waiver, and then they explained that we could look around until it was time to go. When it was time to begin riding they called everyone over and reviewed some tips for riding the horses (how to use the reins to steer if they get out of the line, how to sit going uphill/downhill, etc). My 8 year old has ridden a few times with girl scouts but myself, my husband and my 6 year old have never ridden a horse. My 6 year old began wimpering, saying that she didn't want to ride. She was hiding behind my husband's leg, asking if he would stay with her. There were 2 nice guys doing the orientation, and 1 of them came over to her and explained that she would ride on the 1st horse and that he would lead the horse so she didn't have toremember anything or do anything but just hold on. He spoke to her in such a gentle, reassuring voice that she smiled and agreed to ride. The horses followed one another during our ride. The trail itself was nice, we went up & down a few steep hills as well as through a few very low streams. 1 guy stayed up front on his horse pulling my daughter's horse while the other rode around on the side and back of the group on his horse. Both of them kept an eye on us and gave us encouragement as well as advice on how to handle the horse when needed (my horse tried to pass the one in front of it and my 8 yr old daughter's horse tried pulling to the right a few times), they also reminded us how to sit when riding up the hills, etc. Overall it was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it. The horses looked very well cared for and every staff member was very nice. It was such a fun family expereince and we definitely plan to go back. read more

I bought 3 Groupons for a trail ride and after driving an hour to get there, then waiting around another 30 minutes they told us no rides were scheduled at that time. There were several other parties there that were supposedly scheduled at that time as well. They didn't apologize and told us all to just get refunds from Groupon. Very unprofessional. read more
