I had a very unpleasant experience shopping at this store. It started in the dressing room, my daughter was trying on bathing suits and I brought her a few more to try on. Two employees quickly ambushed me to make sure she exchanged the same amount of clothes from the dressing room. Bought a necklace from this store yesterday and it broke when i was trying to get it on, so I went to exchange it since the receipt said "exchange items or store credit". The rudest staff I've ever experienced. It's a BEACH store, which should expect a couple drops of water to come off some kids that were playing in the water. They were talking trash to each other that the kids were "morons" for dripping water on the floor (which when they asked the kids to leave they nicely left and stood outside). We confronted them calling our family that, then proceeding to call US the morons (their customers) and asked for the manager. She came out and was checking us out, and we told her that the people she was managing were calling their customers morons. The manager made it worse and said "I can't control what they say" without saying anything about what the people SHE manages. She said this never would have happened if our family wasn't "naive". We ended up not buying the $200 worth of clothing we had at the register and walked out, while the other employees were calling us "assholes" as we were leaving. Horrible staff. Just lost couple hundred dollars or more in sales, rude workers. Brought in a large group, yea with children, that we were watching and planned on buying them whatever they wanted. But you had one woman sweeping cussing up a storm about working, man behind the counter giving the biggest attitude. I shouldn't have bought what I did, but the kids had touched it already. Word to the wise- don't put toys at eye level to children, (land don't expect children to touch something like adults do before they buy something. Tell me- when do people buy things without picking it up, and touching it before buying? But you don't expect kids too? If I'm ever lucky enough to drop what I'm doing and head to New Smyrna Beach for a spontaneous vacation, I could come down here without a suitcase because everything I'd need to enjoy a beach vacation is located right across the street from the beach. Rami and his family have filled the store with everything we need for a memorable beach vacation including toys, steel shovels for building world class sand castles, massive beach towels, enormous selection of clothing from fashionable to kitschy touristy t-shirts and any type of New Smyrna Beach souvenir you can imagine. And just yesterday, for the first time we rented a 6 seat golf cart to take my 89 year old dad and my 6 year old daughter on a cruise up and down the beach. We've made so many family memories with Wild Side as the supplier. Last winter we came down for several weeks and hit all of the big attractions (and spent thousands of dollars) in Orlando including Animal Kingdom, Hollywood studios, Gatorland and a bunch of smaller local attractions. When we got back to chilly Chicago, I asked my daughter what her favorite memory of the trip was. Without hesitating she said "Going to Rami's store (aka Wild Side) and buying stuff." She now knows the staff by name and they treat her like their own family. When I think back our trips here--aside from making memories with my aging dad--our stops here are a highlight too! read more

I don't write reviews like this but what a horrible experience walking into this store was. We ate at the restaurant above the store and decided to look around afterwards, I had a to-go cup with a lid and straw in my hand and the second I walked in I was approached very aggressively by not one, but two employees who rudely told me I couldn't have it in the store (no signage outside). I was taken aback by the intensity but said that I would throw it away (probably with a little bit of an attitude, but I felt it was warranted due to the way they approached me). One of the employees then told me to "calm down" to which I replied that she didn't need to talk to me like that. I was then asked to leave the store - which we all gladly did. We spoke with employees in the store across the street who told us that they regularly receive the same complaints from folks who happen to wander in there. Before this incident, my sister-in-law had gone into the store ahead of us to look around and was followed around and bothered by one of the employees awkwardly and seemingly desperately trying to get her to buy everything she picked up or looked at. She said it made her so uncomfortable that she decided to find us and leave before she was even aware of the other situation. Don't waste your time, money, or energy in this store - there are many others like it on the strip with much kinder employees. read more

I always took guest that come in to visit here to shop. They have a brand of clothes that's hard to find. I also frequent a place called Toni and Joe's on same strip and always park on the backside of their building and have NEVER had a problem. Been at Toni's for 30 minutes, came out, and the gate was locked with my car in it. I went back in to ask the servers what was going on thinking since I parked against their building it was theirs. They directed me to the oceanside tiki which is part of wildside. The manager was a jerk, told me I needed to get a hold of the owner, but he didn't know how to get a hold of him. Ten minutes later, he was down looking at the gate to make sure I didn't do anything. He also told me I should have read the sign. I'll leave a picture of the sign they want you to read in the comments. If they really wanted you to know they would have a bigger sign saying it's private parking. My experience was so bad here , I had to create a Yelp account just to share my experience. Simply put I do not recommend for anyone to spend their money here. This business has 0 respect for paying and none paying customers. My wife and I were browsing the store trying to find a gift for my 10 year old niece in Florida. A you enter the store, employees are watching you every move and giving you stink eyes as they monitor your every move. one of the girls that works there approached me after 5 minutes and actually thought I was stealing and asked to search my bag. How outrageous! I was there to honestly buy a souvenir for my niece with my wife and now I am being accused of stealing... I showed her my bag just so that I can see that dumb look on her face right after. Pirates t-shirts and ice cream Wild Side Beachwear is a huge store right across the street from New Smyrna Beach It's an eclectic sort of a place that sells lots of crummy t-shirts, hats, shorts, sandals and other beachy stuff as well as the usually touristy souvenirs. Wild Side also rents out scooters, three wheel car thingies and funny multiple person bikes. I've never rented any of these things out but you see them all over New Smyrna Beach. I did get a couple of shirts and some tacky souvenirs for some tacky friends and the selection was huge and the prices about what I expected. They also sell ice cream and some typical junk food so you can load up on calories as you lighten your wallet. The building is bright and definitely stands out, a place you can't miss. Even has a couple of plastic pirates hanging around and one climbing down the wall. A pleasantly tacky sort of souvenir place that will fill several different needs. read more

This store has EVERYTHING you can imagine ‍. We went there with our family and got all we needed. We got beach chairs, shirts, bracelets, water, towels and a 2 cars. We took these cars to the beach, both rode as a charm. The staff is VERY friendly and helpful. You can have some small snacks and drinks at the first floor and you can have AMAZING food...like so good. The golf cart they rented us had bad tie rods, shook and was very hard to steer. We did a loop on the beach and came back early to get another one. The kid (sandy blonde hair with glasses) was so rude when we explained why we were back early, that we decided to ask for a partial refund versus an exchange. His response was "Tough, we were open... I went to this shop to find a cute couple of beach souvenirs and things for my daughter and the customer service was so horrible, i was getting eyed down every time i moved to a different location to look at something different, A man came up to me who i'm guessing worked there and accused me of stealing something i didn't even grab. So we rented a 6 man golf cart from this place for the entire day, $140 bucks. I should have walked away when I stopped in to pick it up and the greeter said let me wash it off for you, I said ok I would appreciate that, thanks. I would have thought this would have been done earlier before the renter arrives to get his ride. However it was nice that he offered. As soon as I started the cart it ran roughly, I figured it had a few miles on it and took it with the grain of salt. Then I tried to release the brake which is supposed to be spring activated, it would not come up on its own with out reaching down and lifting the peddle up with your hands. I let my son in law drive as we spent the day on the beach driving up and down shore. After spending the day on the beach we decided to drive into town as they are supposed to be road worthy....NOT! The first time I drove it on the road there were no brakes!!! When trying to use the turn signal, it was so loose it just spun around on the yoke, what a joke! I returned immediately to the rental and told them that somebody is going to get hurt on this thing and they said they were going to put it out of commission, I hope they did???? After looking at the other rentals they had they were in sad shape, broken mirrors, cowlings cracked, tires with no tread, mine with no breaks, it was obvious they were not maintaining their equipment. I only wish I had noticed before renting for the entire day. I CAUTION ANY ONE RENTING HERE, CHECK THE EQUIPMENT BEFORE YOU TAKE IT! Even thought I didn't keep it the entire time I was glad to get it turned in, I WOULD NEVER RENT FROM THIS PLACE AGAIN. I would have thought they would offer some kind of a refund but they didn't...oh well, never again! Again I was approached by a very short fat rude girl who basically grabbed them out of my hands( I thought she was going to tackle me for them). I told her I would bring them to the desk she argued and said no it's my policy. I asked if she owned the store she said no but it's my way it's my policy. We rented a golf cart while family was in town, we had an absolute blast! It took approx. 5 minutes ( on a very busy holiday ) to get in and out with our rental. Returning it was just as fast and simple. You won't need to pay to get on the beach because each vehicle has a beach pass sticker on the windshield. I have been going to NSB for many years this shop included, however when I entered the shop today to look around I decided to use their public restroom as I was browsing. As I was done and started to leave, an older woman with brown hair and glasses who was working said to me as I left "by the way public restrooms are across the street" I was very confused because I had been browsing and looking in the store and just so happened to use the bathroom. I said to her that I was looking in the store, she rolled her eyes and said "sure you were". Made me feel as if I was being watched and treated poorly just because I needed to use their public restroom. WILL NOT be bringing my business in this shop any longer, totally rude and uncalled for. You'd think in a tourist town that you might give someone's money back if: 1. You rented a dune buggy to someone right before the beach was closing (and you knew this but the tourist did not); 2. Your store's dune buggy stopped working on the beach, which forced your customer (me!) to push a dune buggy through the sand. 3. Your dune buggy had rusting and nonfunctional seat belts. The less expensive four-seater dune buggy was supposedly not available since it was recharging. However, the two more expensive two-seater dune buggies were available. Hmmm...However, these more expensive dune buggies lost their charge on the beach and did not work. So, that makes me wonder why a proprietor would replace one uncharged dune buggy with another uncharged dune buggy. In other words, he probably just wanted us to rent the more expensive dune buggies. And then! And then! He would not return money to us. He said we could have store credit, but the store is full of items like candle holders in the shape of palm trees, key chains decorated with rainbows, and rubber teeth you can wear over your current teeth. Go here if you want to be ticked off, if you want to be cheated, and if you want to risk your life. I stayed in New Smyrna for three weeks and boycotted this place. I am probably returning to NSB in January and will still avoid buying anything here. read more

My daughter and I have never shopped here. They have really amazing, inviting Adirondack chairs outside of their place of business. We had just purchased ice cream from "Treats on the Beach," and thought that we would enjoy our ice cream and than shop (since there was a sign posted 'no food or drink'). As soon as our bottoms climbed into the chair a lady came out and said "Our owner will not allow Food and Drink on the porch from across the way. Please take yourselves and the ice cream back to Treats on the Beach!" We were respectful and left however, how insanely rude! It's a public establishment. I'm sure it's because they have begun to sell their own ice cream and now have a food truck, but seriously, we had planned on shopping there. We rented a six seater "dune buggy" for three hours yesterday. They no longer have electric machines as they were unreliable. The guy working there explained when I asked. We paid $100 and got free beach access. We also took it on the road. It was fun to drive and comfortable for the four of us. It was a great way to see the area. read more

Ok this place does not even deserve my star. My friends and I were shopping around today looking for some nice shirts. At the checkout the most disgusting woman started yelling at us saying she found two hangers and my friend only had one shirt. She proceeded to state my friend went to the bathroom and took her shirt. This was 100% false and she was accusing us of stealing their merchandise. Cheap stuff that's over priced. Their are plenty of other locally owned and operated stores in the area with better customer service as well as better quality products. Save your time and money spend it somewhere else. Enjoy NSB with the locals at there shops not at a cheap novelty store that sells junk to profit off of the tourists. Also a heads up as they won't tell you but no returns allowed even if the merchandise they just sold you is falling apart. Instead they will show you on the bottom of your receipt all sales final.
