His mother comes from work and is almost always there by the time the session starts. KidStrong is perfect for him. He loves it, his parents love it, I love it, and he benefits from it in many ways. I don't actually know how much it costs, but I hope that he can keep it up for a long time. The coaches are very good with kids. The agenda for each 45-minute session is on a big TV/computer in the exercise area, and the coaches are good about following it. A few weeks ago I watched one of the coaches do more chin-ups than I could count--easily 50--while he was waiting for the class to start. He didn't act or talk like a superstar and didn't look muscular (hard to tell under their black "Coach" sweatshirts. My grandson saw most of it, and was thoughtful about it. Let me start with the most important part of the school, the cadets. I often see them in the Village of Carlsbad. Invariably, they are very polite and respectful, very articulate and mature for their years. They represent the Academy incredibly well. Please come to one of the Academy's military reviews and you'll see an amazing group of young men working together to achieve a common goal. Very impressive. I have had the chance to talk with several parents and alumni. The feedback I have received has been exceptional. Every parent shares how much their son grew in his years at the Academy and the amazing young man he has become. They are so proud. The alumni talk about the brotherhood they built with their classmates and how the school positively prepared them for lives after graduation. Please come to a graduation ceremony and watch the seniors celebrate their individual and peers' accomplishments. The Academy educators and staff have the top priority to build young men of character and prepare them for the rest of their lives. My interaction with them has always been very positive and professional. The education standards are high and there is an infrastructure to support the cadets for success. They provide leadership opportunities so the cadets learn by doing not through lectures. The growth and development of these young men is their top priority. The bottom line? This is a place where your son will be given the opportunity to grow and pursue his dreams.

Before ANA, we spent 18 months trying everything: DBT therapy, family systems therapy, private boys coaching, and multiple specialized retreats for struggling teens. None of it helped. In fact, many interventions pushed him even farther away from his best self. ANA, on the other hand, grounded him almost immediately. Now he's on the Dean's List, was voted Best Artist, and loves attending ANA. The other day, I nearly cried when I heard him tell his grandmother, "It's a privilege to attend ANA." His commanding officer captured the essence of the school after a minor infraction: "We are not a reform school. We are not a therapeutic boarding school. We are an elite preparatory academy developing the future leaders of the world. You decide if you belong here." And somehow, through the teachers, counselors, structure, activities, and community, my son decided for himself that he does belong there. ANA gave my son his future back. We are grateful beyond words.

What she found was so much more than that. She found coaches who believed in her, pushed her, and cared for her as a whole person--not just an athlete. Her mental and physical well-being were always a priority, and that kind of care is rare. Because of this environment, she accomplished something we once thought was out of reach--qualifying for Westerns. That moment alone speaks volumes about what this gym and its coaches are capable of. Coach Ryan and Coach Elizabeth--thank you for pouring into her, for guiding her, and for being such a steady, positive force in her journey. And Nicole, thank you for being the heart of the gym--always greeting her with a smile, especially on the hard days when she needed it most. This wasn't just a gym for us--it became home. As my daughter moves on to her next chapter in college, we do so with full hearts and endless gratitude. And the best part? We're not leaving--our two other team gymnasts are proud to continue being part of this amazing family. If I could give a million stars, it still wouldn't be enough.

She hosts regular meetings for parents to talk to her and will also always be happy to hop on a meeting any afternoon to discuss any questions and concerns. The program itself stood out to me immediately for being a really good supportive model for development. The students are not playing "Lord of the Flies" out in the woods, they are guided and supported by amazing teachers who spend their afternoons writing documentation of the learning in their classrooms and designing emergent curriculum. We could not be happier with the school we chose and our daughter loves school passionately. We have even decided to keep her in Native School another year instead of moving to the free public TK because of how much we love the program and the teachers.

Each program is designed to aid children who need assistance in developing and growing their social skills, and our son has been making leaps and bounds since starting here! Our son has Asperger's syndrome, and Anna has been wonderful in working with him. We did all of our homework, and her credentials all check out (which is something that we always do before working with a service provider.) Both of our boys come for LEGO club, and both of them look forward to it each week, even though we get up fairly early each Saturday to get there. LEGO club proved to be an excellent starting point for the boys, and allowed them to really grow comfortable in the setting before we got the PEERS program set up for our eldest. Now, to the details: the facility is absolutely beautiful. Build inside a dual use location in Carlsbad, the downstairs is set up for the program. Tastefully decorated, it is fun, light, and airy, with plenty of slightly subdued colors that look delightful without being overwhelming. There are plenty of toys, and the collection of LEGO's is constantly expanding. There is a good mix of special needs and typical children, which allows for real interactions that are all supervised and directed by Anna and her staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accepting. We truly could not be happier! Would I recommend her to family and friends? Absolutely, and have already gone out of my way to do so. If you have a child that is struggling with social interactions, if you have a child who needs a boost, if you have a child who just doesn't quite get it, this is the place to go. We have already seen honest-to-goodness measurable improvements (which as an aside is something that is also done through the PEERS program.) In summary, this program is excellent and Anna makes it all seem so easy. And, if I'm honest, I've probably picked up a pointer or two for applying in my own life as well.

The entrance to the museum is on the side, and at first it seems like you're just going to a store. We were shown a video on the foundation of the museum and we had a demonstration on how to utilize the tablet kiosks in front of each section. I thought it was very cool to see especially modern instruments and how they looked in the past. It feels really good to appreciate how far instruments have come and how music has really shaped the human experience. I saw many people of all ages come here and enjoy. I was super glad to come here as I've never experienced seeing so much musical instruments (old and new) in one place. This museum relies on watching/reading from their smooth and large tablets. David walked us through what each section was and pretty much said we're open to going anywhere around the museum. It was super cool to watch the vids of the instruments in action. I especially loved the interactive aspects!!! Got to play around with some instruments hands-on. More than just guitars and banjos, I got my hands on countless other instruments for the first time!!! I definitely wish to play the wind instruments only bc I played trumpet in highschool but I obviously understand the hygiene issues with that. You get to try out DJ systems, electric drums, harps, and there's even a kids' section!!! Super fun and you'll have a newfound appreciation for music instruments!!!
