Both of our kids have gone through this school after trying out a few other school/nanny environments and absolutely loved it. The entire school staff work collectively to watch over the kids and they know each kid by name. The teachers themselves have been amazing in providing a wide variety of educational experiences and being flexible to each kids needs. Additionally, we are able to get updates and pictures throughout the day to see how the kids are doing. Both of my boys went/are going to this school. Our now 6 year old is thriving in kindergarten because of all the amazing teachers and our 4 year old is learning Spanish and can already write his name! His teachers Ms. Tine and Ms. Joanna are the sweetest and the communication all around from the principal Ms Natasha makes us feel like our child is safe. I love Discovery Isle for my son. We moved to San Marcos 2 years ago and my son was quiet and reserved, now he walks in and will say hi to Ms. Theresa at the front desk and tells her their little inside "roger that," when he leaves. He loves his teachers and has learned so much. I know without a doubt that he will be ready for kindergarten this August. My daughter has been here for three weeks now, and so far I've been happy with her care. It's only been her and I since she was born, so choosing great care was very important to me. Her current teachers are the best. They are always ready to answer my million questions/messages and are always keeping me updated. I love that they have an app for parents to keep up with, I just wish the app itself was a bit user-friendly and more in real time (ex: diaper changes and nap times appear as they happen, instead of at the end of the day when I pick her up and the daily report is created). With my daughter being part time, she's taking a bit longer to adjust, but her teachers are always very reassuring and I really like that about them. My daughter started with the youngest class at Discovery Isle and she is almost 3, and I am so happy that we made the decision to send her to this school. The first and foremost, ALL teachers at this school is amazing! Ms.Sulema, Ms.Ciera and Ms.Fereba took super good care of her when she was infant and I felt relieved to leave her with them knowing that she was in good hands. Now she is almost 3, Ms. Alondra and Ms. Dayanna receive her every morning, and they are super sweet with all the kids and morning drop off has been very smooth. Transitioning from Colorado approximately one year ago; after trying multiple daycares we ended up at this specific school. From the moment we walked in the door, we knew we found our fit. We have two high maintenance children and they could not have been better, loved or cared for by their entire team. Discovery Isle has always blown us away, helping prepare our son for kindergarten and taking care of our daughter and her allergies and big personality. The leadership staff, including Natasha and Teresa are second to none. Kind attentive, and always willing to work with us. My son's pre-K teachers, Miss Janelle, and Miss Demi accepted and gave my son his confidence back. They were instrumental in his success in kindergarten. As for my daughter, Miss Diana, and Miss Alondra are some of the sweetest most patient women I've ever met, and my daughter feels like she is family in their arms. Our daughter started at Discovery Isle when she was 4 months old - On her first day, we were welcomed by one of her teachers and instantly, knew she was in great hands. We LOVE having our son enrolled at Discovery Isle! It is such a positive learning environment. The teachers really care about the kids and you can tell they truly love what they do. Our son is about to transition to the next classroom and there has been great communication between us and what to expect, as well as helping to prepare him and make the transition as easy and stress free as possible to him. We love having access to the webcam as well so we can "peek" on him throughout the day and see how much fun he is having. My daughter went here for only a few months. She was only going half days m-f and we were spending close to $800. My daughter didn't seem to get any better as far as her motor skills or alphabet, so we pulled her. The staff was wonderful, but for the cost, I expected the curriculum to be more structured for preschool that is supposed to get the child ready for kindergarten. read more

My boy started at DIP this year with 18 months. The plan was to start him at 12 months but with all the covid madness we had to delay. Through all the complications and uncertainties that come with enrolling a kid during covid, Christy, the principal, made the whole process so much easier. Since my boy was not going to be able to meet his teachers or get used to his new classroom during school hours, Christy opened the school after hours and allowed me and my boy to tour the classroom during the weekend when the facility was empty. Since he started, the staff has treated my boy with nothing but love and affection., caring for him every time he falls or has a hard time going to school that day. They take temperature checks and has every child sanitize their hands before walking in the school. Everyday I get pictures and reports of how he slept, ate and behaved at school. i just got his first progress report which has clear goals and milestones that he has to master at his age range. My child is super happy and I'm very pleased with how things are going. read more

Reading the review below is a joke! My kids have been a part of the Discovery Isle family for 9 years and we couldn't be happier. My husband and I are grateful and appreciative for all that Discovery Isle has taught our kids. By the time our kids where in kindergarten they where more than prepared to start school. Thanks to the early education that they received from D.I, our kids are doing really well in school. They are all in advance classes and reading 3-4 grades higher than the grade they are in. Discovery Isle is a very nurturing place. It's very evident how much the staff love the kids. You can see this by just walking in and seeing how happy the kids are. The staff is great and keep the parents well informed of what's going on. They have cameras in the classroom which you can log in and see from home. This is awesome bcuz you always know what what your child is up to. I also receive daily emails with pictures and a description of what our kids worked on that day. Overall I would highly recommend Discovery Isle near Twin Oaks. From the principle down to assistant teachers they are a good group of people who put a lot of time, effort and dedication into our children. This place has been our second home for 9 years and we still have 3 more to go. We will miss this place when it's out time to go. For a good early education foundation... We have our 13 months there for 3 days and he hated this place. No one there gave him any TLC to help him make the needed adjustment. The staff usually took him into a separate room and let my baby cry for hours. He cried so much that he lost his voice. After 3 days there, my baby turned into a difficult, unhappy and very fussy baby. Totally different from before. No one at this daycare has the time to feed my Baby and made sure that he consumes enough daily food and fluid. Seriously concerning about our baby's health and mental development. I were able to get out of our contract early after complaining to the daycare director. Beware, this daycare is NOT for every child! If your child is totally independent and needs no attention nor little TLC. This place may work. But make sure you don't commit to a 30-days termination notice contract until you are absolutely sure that your child will be happy there. read more

We've had our baby enrolled at Discovery Isle from 3 months old, and he really loves it there! We were apprehensive about dropping off such a young baby, but he really seemed to thrive with all of the stimulation from other children and watching bigger kids do things like roll and crawl helped motivate him to start moving around more than he had been at home. All of the staff are incredibly kind and caring. Everyone learned his name right from the start and greet us as we walk in the door each morning. They're very attuned to his needs and do a great job communicating with us. They really encouraged us to call or drop by and visit as much as we needed to so that we were comfortable. They also have a video system set up so you can sign on and see what your kid is up to- this is a big hit with the grandparents! The only (small) complaint I have is the use of the RIE method with such young babies. It's a method of child care that, among other things, means that you don't put kids into positions that they can't get out of on their own. This was great because our son got lots of floor play time and I appreciate that they don't stick the kids in bouncers or swings all day, but it also means they won't do "tummy time" or let the child sit up if s/he can't get into that position by themselves. I personally don't agree with this and was strongly recommended to encourage lots of tummy time by our pediatrician, but we simply work on this at home in the mornings/evenings. I also really like that they can accommodate kids until they're ready for kindergarten and also have before/after school programs for older kids. I'm glad that we'll have the consistency of being able to stay with one center until my son's ready for school. read more

My child has been at the school for a few months now and she LOVES it. She is in the preschool class and learns and dose so much. I have never seen a preschool that is so involved with the times. I get emails weekly with what the kiddos are learning, print outs of their education schedule, all class work they've done and also lots of fun take home crafts and pictures. They also have dance and sports during the day that the little ones can partake in to break up the day (small extra few due to it being an outside company). My daughter absolutely loves the dance and it helps for me because I work so I can't take her to dance after school but I can watch from work from their school cameras. All the staff is extremely friendly and always smiling. Couldn't be more happy with this school! I highly recommend it for preschool! read more

I've had both my children enrolled at Discovery Isle on Twin Oaks and highly recommend this school. Not only is it conveniently located off the freeway, and next to Ralphs and Kaiser, the director and staff members are so caring and treat us like family. The office staff is always welcoming and helpful and the teachers have a great curriculum. When my oldest went to kindergarten last year, he was way ahead academically. After seeing his kindergarten classmates struggle with basic ABC's, holding scissors correctly, etc, I'm very glad I invested in this preschool for my children. The teachers also helped my children potty train with ease. I have nothing but great things to say about Discovery Isle! read more

My wife and I went in to see if they take newborns, took one look at the prices for 5 days full time and were shocked to see that these preschools charge the price of a small mortgage. My daughter has been at Discovery Isle (rancho Santa fe/Melrose) for over 3 years now...It has been the worst school I have ever come in contact with and I have worked at just about every school in Oceanside for over 3 years myself as a substitute. I keep hoping that the school will work out for my daughter, but they finally went too far, and called CPS on me after I gave my daughter a haircut...(just below ears:) the teacher interrogated my daughter, then contacted CPS, according to my daughters mother. The school refused to give me the CPS report. I called CPS and they told me they found no need to follow up on the call. I don't trust the school! My daughter will never attend another Discovery Isle again!! Also, one of my daughter's teachers, in 2010, stated in a letter, that my daughter had severe learning disabilities, as if she was qualified to diagnose conditions. When a real therapist reviewed my daughter, in all areas, she stated that my daughter was completely normal. It seems teachers may not be happy or qualified at the school. I understand all schools have issues, but DI has too many. Please go public! read more

She is 3 years old and gets the best flexible, attentive, and love as well as gets the best care ever. She has learned her colors her 123's and she knows her Abc's. This school is incredible. We moved from an in-home daycare in DC to San Marcos in July 2015 and looked at 10+ schools/daycares. The Principal and Assistant Principal were so patient with us and answered all our questions (we had a lot). When we signed up for a tour, we were impressed with the layout and the cleanliness of the classrooms. The kids all seemed happy and the teachers seemed to genuinely care about the children. So once we signed her up, we were nervous with the transition to a new environment because our daughter is a bit shy. At first, like any major change to a toddler, it was a challenge. But the teachers did everything they could to help make her feel welcomed and acclimate quickly. Now, just 3.5 months later, we are in awe of the remarkable progress she has made! Discovery Isle has truly allowed her to blossom. She comes home and teaches us sign language - which is remarkable. She loves her friends at school and her teachers, especially Mr. Bob. We constantly have new art work to display on our refrigerator, so she is engaging in all types of tactile discovery while having fun. One of the best characteristics of this school is that everyone genuinely cares. The teachers really love the kids, and it is apparent. The other kids also seem very happy every time I drop her off and pick her up. I love receiving the daily report to see what she ate and how long she napped. One of my favorite things about this school is the diverse activities. Every day, it seems like our little one is doing something new, which keeps her interested and excited. I could go on and on about how much we love Discovery Isle, but I would recommend scheduling a visit yourself if you are interested. read more

I have had 3 kids attending this preschool and couldn't be happier. The teachers and staff are wonderful. They go the extra mile to make sure that their classrooms are a warm and welcoming environment. They have very rich academic programs in place and my children have come out of the school very prepared for Kindergarten as well as socially prepared. The teachers and staff are wonderful and will update you on how your child is progressing in class. They make the kids feel special and loved. They have web cameras in the classrooms and parents can login online and watch their child from a computer. Also, parent bulletins are sent home monthly with information on events and standards that the students are working on in class. The teachers also post a daily schedule and summary of what the kids did and learned that day. This makes it nice so that parents can discuss the days activities with the child. My two boys attend Discovery Isle San Marcos, and we couldn't be more pleased! The teachers and principals are very nurturing and truly care about the well-being of the students. My oldest son is in preschool, and I'm consistently amazed at the content of the curriculum. We receive daily emails with images and descriptions of their activities, as well as a lot of artwork and worksheets to highlight their learning. I'm pleasantly surprised as I see it exemplified by his knowledge, and our elevated and evolving conversation at home. My younger son started as an early infant, and I see comfort in the bond he has developed with his teachers. The growth in his communication skills are very dominant, as I know they are a result of the patience, kindness and consistency in the classroom. Occasionally, they even offer special weekend events, which is a unique differentiatior than other places. It's probably challenging to be open extra hours, but highly valued because it gives a great break to parents for a "day off."
