*This review is for the Creekside Trail ride only We did the creekside trail ride, and I selected this ride out of the many options for horseback riding in the area due to what I thought would be a prettier trail with the creek. It turns out the "creek" was just a little pond at the back of the property with the highway in the background, and we only rode along it for a couple of minutes. Most of the trail was in a wooded, forested area that backed up to cabins. I did not find the ride very scenic at all. However, I liked that the ride was seasonably priced, they didn't have a weight limit (my husband is 6'3" and 250 lbs, and it can be challenging to find rides for him), and that the guides were very friendly. I also appreciated that they gave me a very sweet, mellow horse when I expressed how nervous I was. read more

We booked the Creekside trail horseback riding and rodeo combo! Our guides were so nice and took us on a beautiful trail along the forest. They even posed us with our horses to take a picture of our group. Love that they took it with our phones and we didn't have to buy pictures through them. After our ride we got ready for the rodeo. It was our first time at a rodeo and we had a blast! Loved that they began with a prayer and singing the National Anthem. It was great watching all the contestants and they involved the audience quite a bit during the night. I took my family to this rodeo while visiting Yellowstone. The tickets were reasonably priced, about $20 each. They had a VIP section that was priced at around $40 each which we passed on and when I got there was happy I did. It didn't appear to have a better view or any other perks so I would pass on it if you are on the fence. They do a good job of entertaining the crowd and the kids and my family had a great time. I have been to many rodeos around the country and this one seemed amateur. Many young teens performing and many of them were unable to complete the event. It is a good way to pass the time and have some entertainment but don't expect to be impressed by the rodeo skills. read more

The Wild West Yellowstone Rodeo sits 6 miles outside of West Yellowstone. You'll find it on the highway with a sign announcing "Rodeo Today" and you'll stop to enjoy 90 minutes of outdoor entertainment. You'll most enjoy the opening entertainment, when horsemen attempt to ride a wildly bucking bronco. You'll also enjoy the bull-riding and the barrel racing and the calf roping. You'll enjoy, a bit less, the comedic clowns and (no disrespect intended here) the forthright patriotism towards our country and our military. You are a San Franciscan at your core and not used to this sort of prideful talk. You'll grow chilly because, despite a day in the mid-80's, the show ends at 9:30 and you're sitting outside, on raised bleachers, and that temperature drops significantly at night. You'll remember, maybe forever, standing on the bleachers during a break in the show. You looked at the big open sky, the dramatic clouds. You understood how this scene could make someone proud to be an American. You got it. The WWYR costs $15 per person (less for kids) and is worth it. Sitting outside under that giant sky leaves an imprint on your brain. I don't want to do it again but that's 'cause I already did it. You should too; It's something to see and experience when you're in the area. read more

If you have any experience attending rodeos and having a goodtime don't expect this rodeo to be the same. It is technically a rodeo, they do have horses, bulls and people on horsebike. But this is like the practice rodeo? This place is over sold. You pay $20 a head to get in and unless you're pretty early you'll have a hard time finding somewhere to sit and watch the "rodeo." We got lucky enough to find 3 bleacher seats, including one for my elderly father. After we found seats there were people sitting on the ground, lined up alond the fences and standing in the entrance with no where else to go. It was miserable and if something happened definately not safe to be able to get out quickly. To top it off the "rodeo" was boring, slow moving and the participants were mostly kids trying to get to the real rodeo. Do yourself a favor and just don't. Drive on by knowing you're missing nothing, keep your money in your pocket. read more

We are city people, so when we had the opportunity to go to a rodeo during our 2 week campervan (RV) trip to Glacier, Boise, Salmon, Callus and Yellowstone National Parks, we couldn't pass up the chance. We found this little gem via a small brochure that we picked up at Big Sky car rentals (Yellowstone vacations), and found that it was almost next door (by Montana standards) to the Yellowstone West gate KOA (where we were glamped). My wife immediately looked for reviews, finding only through TripAdvisor that it was small and not as good compared to other rodeos the reviewers had been to. However, never having been to a rodeo and having nothing to compare it to, we figured we had nothing to lose. We headed out at about 7:45 pm, since it was to start at 8p, and needless to say we arrived with time to spare. Yes, it is small, but it seemed to have the requisite rodeo elements: horses, calves, rodeo clowns, cowboys and cowgirls. My girls were quick to note that pungent smell that people associate with farms (manure) was DISGUSTING, but they forgot about that in short order once the show began. NOTE: bring a jacket and wear long pants because the temperature drops significantly after the sun goes down. Seemed even colder since we're from Hawaii and the temperature rarely drops below 64 (in the winter!) It was probably around 64 when we arrived at the rodeo and dropped to below 52 when we left and this was the beginning of August! WTF?!?!?! There is calf roping, barrel racing, bronco riding, bull riding, audience participation contests, and best of all was the kids calf round up. Although my girls didn't participate, they LOVED watching the other kids get down and dirty. There's a small snack bar offering hamburgers, hot dogs, nachos and a variety of drinks, too. Seemed pricey, but West Yellowstone is a resort town and even at Mc Donald's the $1 value menu items are $2.79. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and if you can get past the "small" factor, you will, too. read more

First, can't say enough about the service and staff. These folks were the most down to earth great people we had the pleasure of dealing with on our week long vacation. We did the Creekside trail ride and then did the rodeo. Both were amazing and were the highlight of our Yellowstone and Grand Teton vacation. The staff leading the ride were very patient with our kids and informative. We talked about where we were from, where they were from, hunting, fishing, etc. It felt like we had made new friends by the end. To make the rodeo even better our trail ride staff were in the rodeo! Our 3 kids ages 9, 7, and 4 loved this more than our 2 full days in Yellowstone so far! So engaging for the audience - between every competition was banter/performance/crowd involvement led by Ben the clown. The show was 90 minutes and we felt like we got the full rodeo experience! Be aware of credit card scam, we bought our tickets last Saturday 07/29 for the rodeo, and found out 5 days later that they also charged us a total bigger amount, besides our original rodeo tickets. We did not buy any other services or food with our credit card, we bought drinks and popcorn with cash. This is crazy. Stay away from this business read more

My husband and I went to this place for a horse ride and he was given a horse that bit all the other horses that came close to him. Most of the horses seemed very hungry so they would stop constantly to eat and so it was not easy to ride them. The ride itself was a short ride with the horses riding so close to each other, it seemed to me dangerous and uncomfortable. It was a terrible ride and it was not the amount of time they promised either. They just don't have the land they need to offer a proper, fun and long enough ride. At the end my husband's horse tried to bite my horse and my horse just threw me to the ground. I was hurt pretty badly. I was with back pain for about 4 weeks and a few headaches for a few days. I never received an apology or any compensation. I am just glad there was no permanent damage that would have force me to sue!! there is a lot of competition for horse back riding in Yellow Stone. I would recommend going somewhere else! read more

We were a party of 7, which included 2 young children. Five of us went horseback riding and two took the wagon ride. The ride lasted about an hour. It was enjoyable, but a little too laid back. All of the horses were led along the path at a slow walk. We attended the rodeo afterwards. That was enjoyable. The rodeo lasted for several hours and included most competitions associated with rodeos such as calf roping, calf chasing by the children, barrel course, bronco riding, and bull riding. The overall cost was reasonable. It was worth the cost and time. We will remember the experience. read more

Our group of 11 horseback riders, which included 4 adventurous children and 2 fearless senior citizens, had an amazing 1 hour sunset ride with Creekside Horseback Riding prior to the rodeo. The majority of our group had never been on a horse before and the staff did a wonderful job ensuring we were all comfortable with our horses prior to the start of the ride. In addition, we had three guides on the trail with us that provided coaching and positive reinforcement during the ride. After the ride, we enjoyed the rodeo festivities which also included fun activities for our "city-slicker" kiddos. An all-around awesome place to spend the evening with your family. I highly recommend the 10 minute drive from West Yellowstone to enjoy this family-friendly event. read more
