As a boarder I have never had to do any work that I didn't volunteer to do or was paid to help. Kim certainly works hard and tries to hire decent workers. To refute the previous poster, the horses died at the previous barn due to contaminated feed (specified by that facility). There are clinics with outside trainers several times a year and boarders are welcome to trailer out, not allowing outside trainers is standard practice for many facilities. She teaches a variety of skills and abilities and tailors for the level of experience. Her students that are interested in showing perform well and generally place in the ribbons. Horses are fed generous hay, some of the boarder horse groups are on grass, and you can hand graze at any time.

There are trails behind the barn that are quiet and peaceful. The horses get to graze in incredible pastures. It is just magical. So sorry that we had to leave. As a side note, after I left this barn, my horse got colic around the July 4 weekend. I could not get anyone to trailer her to Tuft's hospital. I was crazed as time was of the essence. I contacted Roger and he came to my horse's rescue and brought her to Tufts and saved her life!

There are so many riding stables that are much closer to my home, but I prefer to ride here (it's one of long islands best kept secrets) because everyone is so nice and there's no attitude or drama (unlike other stables on the island). I always feel like I have the ring to myself which is hard to find on the weekends. This farm is not massive but that's one of the things I like about it. Michelle treats all the horses like her personal pets and takes such good care of them. All of the horses I've ridden were amazing. Beau is by far my favorite horse but Kellie and Kiowa are also great. My 9 year old son used to take lessons on Kiowa and Pistol Pete. Michelle was great with him. Even though he wasn't really into riding she was so patient. Now he just loves to hang out at the farm while I ride on Saturdays. I've watched Michelle teach many children's lessons and noticed she explains riding in a way that children understand. With me (an adult that returned to the ring after a 30 year hiatus) she's soft spoken and provides quality feedback. She's certainly not one of those trainers that yells at you.
