The staff is always welcoming and when our dogs heard the words "Metro Pooch" they always got excited. The older of our two dogs suddenly passed away and our younger dog has been taking it harder than we have (which is pretty hard). The staff has been very concerned, and when we took our dog back in to see how she would do without her sister, everyone was good with her and very helpful and she did just fine! Also, my husband had an unplanned hospital procedure and we needed to book our dog in overnight without notice, and Metro Pooch accommodated us. I don't know what we would have done had they not folded us in. We have only had really good experiences here and recommend the daycare and boarding facilities! read more

I am so thankful for the owner, Kristen, who personally spent an entire day helping my senior dog who was not able to be groomed anywhere due to health reasons. He is a frail dog nearing the end and we didn't want his last days to be uncomfortable. Kristen patiently dematted and groomed my dog by hand in such a gentle caring manner. She went above and beyond to care and treat my dog with respect and love. I am incredibly thankful and appreciate. The metro pooch is a clean and significantly more peaceful and quieter environment than other grooming and boarding facitilies in the area. Beware of having your dog "age out" of the boarding service. After going to Metro Pooch for at least 10 years (4-5 times a year), I was recently told that my dog was no longer welcome, and it was in her best interest to find another place to go or to get home care. No warning or inclination whatsoever. I was shocked. Everyone there "loved my dog". Yes, my dog is old (15 years), and her hearing and eyesight aren't the best, and, yes, she sleeps very soundly at times, but I find it hard to believe that it is in her best interest to adapt to a new boarding situation, whether it be at home or in another facility. Really, changing her routine like that is in her best interest? I would give 0 stars if I could. I just had the most horrific service here. I booked my dog for grooming six weeks ago, told the woman I would drop off after 9am as I had to drop my kids at daycare. I arrived at 9:13 and as I was parking they called to say they couldn't take my dog as their kennels were full and they had no bath to see my dog, and the next appointment they could give me was September 6th. She did not apologise, or say sorry, but said simply to go home. I'm not the type of person to scream or shout, but I do want to warn other people not to take their pets here, as a booked appointment is no guarantee that you will be seen. read more

Hotel/daycare: There is truly no better place to leave your pup. Prices are fair, facilities are clean, and staff here treats your dog like family. The owners of this place clearly don't think of the Metro Pooch as just a way to generate revenue- it's a passion for them. On more than one occasion I've come to pick my dog up to find him cuddling with a staff member. BONUS: You can watch your dog play and socialize on a live cam if you ever get worried about him/her. Grooming: I WILL NEVER GO TO ANOTHER GROOMER. I can't tell you now many times I've given a groomer a photo of my dog and they still fail to give me what I want. I've never had that problem here. My dog walks in looking like a grimlin and somehow the groomer turns him into a straight up puppy model. Perfect cut every time. We will only board our dogs with Metro Pooch. They have been our choice since the day they opened. When away we check in a few times a day to see what the pups are up to and our kids usually add commentary! They accommodate any medications that need to be given and run a super clean facility. I had checked this place out once. I was interested in the doggie daycare but thought I'd start off with a grooming session. I didn't feel welcome at all. The people in the front didn't even walk me through the place to see anything. I left my pup there for a few hours to get groomed and when I picked him up I noticed that his paw had some blood. I know things happen but they should have mentioned something to me about it. Then sure enough that night my poor pup ended up with conjunctivitis! Immediately got him to the Vet and he said it was def. infected. My poor pup was lethargic all week and uncomfortable. read more

I like this place but the problem is that they have terrible hours on Sundays so it means that you can't pick your dog up until Monday morning. This makes it a poor option for a weekend trip. Otherwise, it seems very clean, and the staff are nice, it's just not a very large space at all. read more

I drive from Chicago out east during the holdays so my dog can be with me and this time I had to attend a work meeting that was not near any family member to help watch my dog. It was scary and hard to find a place but I am glad I chose The Metro Pooch! Could not have asked for a better expereince, I only wish I could find a place like this near my home for my Addison (Chicago area). The staff was so friendly and helpful prior to our arrival to ensure I had everything. They really made me feel comfortable bringing my dog to a strange place! The facility was so clean compared to several other facilities I have been to. The staff was welcoming when we arrived and were so gentle with Addison. She has trouble going with strangers most of the time but they took their time and were so kind! I thought it would be best to give Addison her meds so I did not have to worry if she got them while at this hotel. I had some difficulities I must admit but should have done it prior to going in. A staff member very kindly asked if I wanted some help and I agreed. She showed me an easier way to give a dog a pill! I'm so thankful for this because it is much easier than what I was doing! Hands down best place on Earth to bring your dog. Jason, the trainer at MP, is nothing short of a miracle worker. He has helped immensely with both our dogs. We have an "easy" one who needed simple leash training, fixed her up in an hour, and then a tougher one... Our boy has some anxiety and that has resulted in some violent reactions to certain situations. Jason has patiently worked with him both at our home and at the pooch to fix these and in just a few sessions has forced a 180! I can go on about the extra time he took brokering a meeting between our pup and a skittish great Dane on his own time and several other selfless caring acts but I'll end with this. Cesar Milan got nothing on Jason! Aside from all of the above, the rest of the staff is incredible, friendly, and clearly love our fur fam almost as much as we do! read more

My little morkie hasn't been professionally groomed in four years due to bad past experiences at groomers. I finally decided to take some grooming time off to try out the Metro Pooch. The new groomer Brittany was absolutely wonderful. She listened to exactly what I was looking for and delivered!!! My dog, Dylan, loves Metro Pooch. He has been attending doggie daycare there for about six months now and has spent the night there twice in boarding care. Everyone there knows us by name and they always greet us warmly and enthusiastically. You can tell that they love dogs! If I could I would rate a huge ZERO as The Metro Pooch was not on their A game today!! After requesting a time online to schedule a grooming I received a call indicating that the time was not available and the grooming could not be scheduled until after the holidays; I was told I would be placed on a wait list, if any cancellations, to schedule earlier. The following day, however, I received an email confirming my initial requested time and I confirmed this as well on the calendar on my account on the Metro Pooch web site. When we arrived for our appointment, we were told it was not scheduled today. When I relayed I received an email confirming our appointment for today I was asked to produce the email, very irritating that I had to validate, but when I did produce the email the staff repeatedly indicated that I should not have received that email and they could not fit in the grooming today. Just being told that I should not have received the confirmation email is certainly not an adequate response from this business, and offering no workaround leaves a lot to be desired for the Metro Pooch's approach to customer service. Not the end of the world, especially in these times. We will certainly get over the inconvenience, loss of work time and unnecessary nerves, and have already been able to schedule for this Thursday with another highly recognized groomer in the area, just in time for Christmas. Bottom line though, it's just not nice to be treated in this manner, especially by a local business. read more

You may think that 'day camp for doggies' is quite 'bourgeois' or 'up-itty', but I assure it is is not - not that The Metro Pooch doesn't pull out all the stops in making this place a high quality (and extremely clean) establishment - but bringing your dog to day camp is not just for the socially elite. Having the opportunity to leave your pet at the Metro Pooch is so helpful for those of us pet parents who work long days and want to provide the best for our pets, and not have to worry about a thing! Here the dogs can socialize in a 'pack environment' and learn to play well with others, as well as get on track with a healthy daily routine. Kristen (the owner) does an amazing job at helping continue training techniques with the dogs too. You never have to worry about your pup while he/she is at the Metro Pooch, all is taken care of! And if you don't believe me, give them a day of fun here and see how happy and tired they are at the end of it! - you can also watch your pup while they are there on the puppy cam, a crowd favorite! If you are going out of town for a night, or more, check out their overnight stay 'suites' - yes I said suite... I for one do not want to leave my pup in a cold crated place overnight while she is already uncomfortable out of her home and in a strange new place... here they have their very own room/doggie suite, complete with heated floors, special soothing doggie music, and even calming pheromones! And yup, you guessed it, your very own puppy cam to check in and see how your pup is doing in your absence (I assure you, they will be more than content!). I have checked out other pet day cares in the area... and this place is by far above the rest. It is in a class all its own. And for the fun and comfort your pup gets, and the ease of mind it gives you to know your pup is being taken care of, it is well worth it. If you're crazy like me and your dog is pretty much your child... You'll love this place!! It is the ultimate experience for your pup. They offer every dog service you might need in one facility. Metro offers doggie day care (7am-6pm weekdays and weekends too on a shorter schedule). You can do half day or full day dog care and you can buy passes in bulk to save money. They also have awesome grooming services for your pet to be pampered. I used their grooming today on my 4 month old basset puppy and he came home looking and smelling great! I haven't used the service yet, but they offer "luxury boarding services" in their dog hotel. Another great feature is the webcam where you can check in on how your pup is doing at any point in the day during their daycare experience. What's really special about this place though is the staff!! They are sweet, detail oriented, and take great care of my baby, Rocky! He loves going and is sad to leave. He comes home tired from a full day of play, which is much better than leaving him home alone while we're at work. I highly recommend Metro Pooch!! read more

We received a call 2 days into our vacation that our dog had a swollen eye and was in a cone and they took her to their vet (why give them info on our vet), we cut our vacation short to pick her up, and all they said was, we don't know how she was hurt.They charged us full amount and we had $700.00 in vet bills for the weeks after. Our usually energetic, happy puppy was despondent and listless for several days after a long weekend at Metro Pooch. He was not himself--barked anxiously at the slightest sounds (never did that before), cowered from me twice (also new), and simply lay down on the ground despondently where he was usually always tail-wagging and following us everywhere. I don't know if anything happened over the weekend, but based on his strange behavior I would never send him back to Metro Pooch. Also, the dog run outside is a very small, chain-link-fenced area off a rear industrial drive, with no toys when we saw it. Our dog was fed normally and kept safe from injury. I'm so thankful that I found this place! When my dog Beans was a puppy, they took care of her for a few overnights and she came home happy & socialized & fully housebroken! She always wags her tail and is so happy once we turn into the driveway. Now nearly two years and several overnight and daycare stays later, I can honestly say that I have always been pleased with how Beans has been treated - I watch her on the camera when I miss her - the staff are accommodating and know her well - they are friendly and make everyone feel like their dog is the best - because they are the best. After a horrible experience at another local boarding facility, we were very hesitant to board our dogs ever again. But with an upcoming vacation and no one to watch our dogs we decided to check out Metro Pooch. We did the temperament test and met the staff and immediately knew that our dogs were going to be well taken care. The facilities are very clean and the dogs are always playing and not stuck in a cage. They even get a much needed nap time. We spent most of our vacation watching our pups play and sleep at night through their webcams which was so comforting. They even had one employee who completely stepped up to help us feel even more confident. Becky sent us pictures of our dogs and told us how they were making friends with other dogs. This type of service is very unique and hard to find and they are very lucky to have such an amazing employee! I never thought we and our dogs would have such an amazing experience at a boarding facility. I love this place and have been taking my dogs herd for the last year. It is very clean and the staff are very friendly. I also love the Doggie cams. My only complaint is their weekend hours. Sat 9-3 and Sun 10-2. If we can't make it there before closing time, we don't get to see our pups til the next morning & need to pay the additional overnight fee. We will continue to bring our dogs here sometimes but need to find an alternate place with more flexible weekend hours. read more

Will not leave my dog anywhere else, they are so good with him. Our dog has a crazy amount of energy and they handle him so well. Whenever we have to leave him here we rest easy knowing he's in good hands. They also keep tabs on all the necessary vaccinations so no pup gets sick. And when our dog is sometimes the last one there we catch the staff scrubbing the floors so we know it's super clean. So glad they recently added grooming, I can drop him off in the morning and they do his nails right there I don't have to make time to take him to another place! We love Metro Pooch! Our dog loves it so much that he gets excited as soon as we turn into the entrance. Then he runs into the lobby and zips into the play area without even looking back at us! Whenever we pick him up, he's happy, healthy and exercised. We couldn't recommend "The Pooch" more highly. Our dog was friendly, but cautious around others, and spending time there has helped make him more outgoing and relaxed around our two-legged and four-legged friends. We've been to traditional kennels--don't let the difference in cost fool you, as the services one gets from The Pooch (attention, play, exercise, etc.) are usually "extras" one pays for at kennels--and for 15 minute intervals, rather than what your pup would get during a daylong stay at Metro Pooch. Plus, Metro Pooch is clean, modern, and staffed by competent and friendly dog lovers. read more
