The guide is super friendly and just next door the Buffalo "Herd Wear" shop is chock full of one of a kind buffalo derived clothing, knives, moccasins, blankets, coats, vests etc. You name it and they probably have it. Using every bit of the animal, they really have found a way to meet every mountain man and fur lover's needs. Cecil and his wife make every visit a delight with their friendly service. Both of them go above and beyond for their customers and visitors. I was fitted for a buffalo hide coat and this is the result below! More than satisfied.

I would say it has three parts; the building housing a detailed model railroad, an outdoor garden railroad, and the historic train engine and cars outdoors - including a Dept of Energy nuclear weapons transport train previously used for the nearby Pantex plant. The indoor train has representative modeling of the cities and rail lines east-west across the TX panhandle. The two level circuit route fills up much of the inside of the building. At this writing, it's pretty bare bones, the track is laid out, but lots of bare plywood and spaces for filling in the cities, buildings and features. Sky and clouds backdrops are looking good. Got a guided tour of the guard cars and engine of the "white train" used for nuclear weapons transport. Very interesting to see the security measures surrounding warhead transport. The garden railroad in front of the building is also still under construction. Currently has the brick foundation and dirt landscaping, and track is laid, but is not fully operational at this time. The staff on site were friendly and knowledgeable. Admission is free. Website amarillorailmuseum.com is spotty, but lists hours as: Our regular meeting nights are Thursday, from 7:00 p.m. until about 10:00. We are also open the second and fourth Saturdays of the month. You are welcome to visit us anytime, but if not at the times mentioned above, please call ahead. There's an extended part of the trail but you have to cross traffic for it, so the one mile loop worked best for me. A lot of people were walking the trail through my three visits, a school bus was there with kids in the playground and on Saturday plenty of people were fishing in the pond. A really great and well maintained park!

This park is near the Don Harrington Discovery center and they had a fairly large tortoise living on the outside premises. It was neat. I would like to come back to visit that museum. All-in-all .... This park was the best part of Amarillo on this stop through.

The nice folks who checked us in and the spectacular location are worth much more than three stars. Additional pluses: the sites are mostly level and the grade is flatter than the state park. Negatives: we had to change sites to find working electricity and available water. Biggest issue: THERE CURRENTLY ARE NO BATHROOMS OR SHOWERS. The bathroom facility has burned to the ground, which I imagine has been awful for the owners. However, I wish this had been on their website and in the reservation confirmation when we booked our site a week ago. Our trailer does not have a bathroom or shower, so we likely would've changed travel plans if we had known. Overall, it's a fine campground (tents are here, too), feels remote but is near restaurants, and it's nice to be able to book online. I advise asking about facilities before booking, though.

Even with it being no frills, I really enjoyed this RV spot. It is right down the road from Palo Duro Entrance. Across the road is the Jeep Tours which was allowing hiking to get access to the canyon since the State Park was limiting visitors to Day passes due to COVID-19. In the evening at the RV park, we were able to walk down to the canyon area and had beautiful views. Absolutely gorgeous! All of the staff at the site was very nice. They kept the area clean and tidy and they are making many improvements to the site including mini-cabins which are really cute. I would stay again at this RV campsite.

We saw lots of families here when we brought the kids here to play. There is a church next door and a school right across the street so it feels like a perfectly safe place to bring the kids to play. I plan to go and do some trails at Palo Duro . I am short distance from what I love . You should come out and check it out for yourself . I will definitely come back .
