I usually only review when something is great or horrible. This was a great find. I had an appointment with a new stylist there, brenna. I am going white but wanted her to blend it in with blonde. Sean did an amazing job with my 4 and 6yr old girls. I try to avoid cheesy "kid" salons so was thrilled to find Sean at a professional salon while also being exceptional at interacting with children. He spoke to each of them directly, asking what they wanted and going over different bangs descriptions and then called me over to approve the plan they had set. The whole experience definitely made me want to get my own haircut as well by Sean next time! read more

The decor was nice, the owner was nicer, but some of the staff could use some work. My mother came in for a bridal hair and make up trial. Two separate appointments. The makeup appointment (with the owner) went wonderful. The hair appointment was a disaster. We arrived a bit late, so my mother called, and they said there was plenty of time for her to come in. When we arrived she was treated rudely by the stylist. She had her in the chair for five minutes, and another client walked in a half hour early for her appointment. The stylist couldn't be bothered helping my mother any longer, so after driving an hour away we left with no better idea of what she was going to do with her hair for the wedding(which was a couple days away). Aside from the timing issue, the woman was awful to work with. My mother ended up booking elsewhere. read more

I used Dahlia salon for my wedding and overall I was satisfied with the services provided. I visited the salon a few times prior to the wedding (two make up trials and one hair trial) and Kristen, the owner and make up artist, was very friendly, great to deal with it etc. On the day of my wedding, I thought she did an amazing job on my make up and I received a lot of compliments on it. I thought she did a great job on make up for most of my bridesmaids as well, although I know a few weren't 100% happy but I thought they looked great. As for the hair, due to the amount of people getting hair done that day, we had two stylists, and there was definitely a discrepancy in the quality between the two. The woman who did my hair (whom I had a trial with previously) did an AMAZING job (I forget her name but she was taller/blond hair and a really fun personality). I got so many compliments on my hair and it looked fabulous in all the photos and stayed in place all day (and in to the next). The two other bridesmaids who had theirs done with her had amazing styles as well and looked amazing. The other girl doing hair was a bit younger/dark colored hair and she definitely didn't have as much experience with it from what I could tell. My mother and my two sisters in law were with her and all of their hairstyles were very basic looking and didn't look as if they had gone to a salon and paid for them - they looked like they could have done them themselves. While I still thought they all looked great, I know they all were disappointed, especially my mother, which made me sad as it was a big day for her. The other issue was that when I had made the appointments I was told that the pricing for myself and the girls was going to be a certain amount and after we left I found out everyone had paid more for the services that I had originally discussed. I'm not sure if this was because our wedding was on a Sunday and they aren't usually open on a Sunday but that was never discussed with me beforehand. My bridesmaids never really mentioned it to me while we were there and I only noticed it when my mom went to pay for myself and her but at the time I just assumed that mine was higher as the bride than expected and I was starting to get frazzled feeling that I needed to get back to the hotel and get dressed and I didn't want to add in the extra stress of price negotiating when I was out the door to my own wedding. In the end I just felt bad for my girls that they had to pay more than they had anticipated or than I had told them. But, at the end of the day, I still have to give them 4 stars because Kristen and the woman who did my hair were really friendly and I felt that for me personally they did a great job making me look like a million bucks and I wouldn't change a thing about the finished product I had for myself for my wedding day. read more

I want to give this place more stars because the staff at Dahlia, who I met getting our hair done for a wedding, was so incredibly sweet. She bought us muffins, and let us hang out there practically all day while we waited for bridesmaids and the bride to get our hair and make-up done. The shop was adorable, very clean and trendy. But the reason this place only gets three stars is because I just wasn't satisfied with the final product. My make-up was ok; not exactly my taste (clumpy eyelashes, heavy eyeliner), but she did a good job. My hair, on the other hand, was nothing special at all. I hate saying this because, again, everyone was SO sweet. But I showed my hairdresser (brown hair, young, forget her name...) some pictures of what I liked and the end result was nothing like anything I wanted. My 'do was so basic, I could've honestly done it myself. My sister had the same hairdresser, and our hair-dos were practically identical. Now, my caveats only applied to this one girl--there was another woman doing hair (tall, blonde) who did an AMAZING job: gave one bridesmaid a beautiful up-do, another a stunning waterfall braid, and the bride's hair was magnificent. I was fine settling with all this until I got the price tag: our bride said it'd be $100 total, but we were charged $140 for both, so ended up spending about $165 for something "meh." Now, this doesn't mean to avoid the place altogether! Perhaps the flaw was in my own lack of communication, but either way, at least you know what may happen. Definitely go for weddings or a nice occasion, I still recommend them. read more

I was in Cohasset for a friends wedding recently at the Red Lion Inn. I decided to treat myself to a little Spa Day in preparation for the wedding. I walked just down the road from the Inn and spent a few hours of pure fun and relaxation. The staff was so extremely kind and attentive. I got a mani/pedi, wash/blow dry and my make up done! The shop has a high-end boutique feel to it while still making you feel comfortable. This is something I find hard to find in the city some times. It was a wonderful afternoon I highly recommend it to fellow wedding guests staying in the area. read more
