She was extremely unprofessional, dishonest and uncompassionate and falsified my dogs medical exam. I called the morning of the 7th and was able to get a 9am urgent care appointment. My dog was having a reaction to frontline (rash, breathing was off, acting erratically, wasn't settling). I held Chewie as he was shaking, nurse came in and I told symptoms. Nurse left and waited for the doctor. Dr Kemp finally comes in, pulls out a comb from her drawer and pulls his hair back on his back to confirm some redness and flaky skin as the nurse held him. She pointed out he licks the inside of this legs as they were discolored, checked his feet and saw he doesn't lick those and then I mentioned he licks his tail so she looked at that. NEVER looked at his eyes, ears, listened to his heartbeat, NEVER even held him. She suggested three medicines for his itching, I declined all but 1. She left and later poked her head in saying I'd be back to buy the other two meds because she thought I would need them. I get the prescription and its made out for another one of our dogs, so I have to wait for them to correct that issue. Exam is $85 and she never held my dog. I went back to the vet to discuss with Dr. Kemp why she did not check Chewies vitals or give him a proper exam. She blatantly stood there and lied and told me she could email me a copy of the exam. I asked for a hard copy. She continued to go back and forth with me claiming she did all these things. 15 min later the nurse brings in a clearly falsified report stating Chewies temperature was 100, that his eyes were looked at, his teeth, lymph Nodes, etc etc. If this "Doctor" is falsifying exam reports, what else is this woman lying about? I fear for people who do not know better and don't ask questions and that she is taking full advantage of them. Clearly animals and my pet were not a priority to her. I did not ask for a refund, I was not angry, only inquisitive as to why she did not perform a proper exam or check the vitals of my 14 old dog. I know we all have off days so I just wanted an explanation. But when she stood there and lied straight to my face and then had the nurse bring me a fake detailed report, my jaw was on the floor. I brought my concerns to the manager Jessica Sullivan who dismissed all my concerns by stating that sometimes you might not realize that we are checking their lymph nodes and etc or that sometimes we discreetly take a dogs temperature. I currently have 6 dogs, ranging from 1-14. I have been the one who has taken them to every exam, check up, shots etc. I know how exams work. Mrs Sullivan clearly is siding with her employees. This practice needs to be under review for falsifying documents and dishonest activity because I am sure I'm not the first person to experience this. "Dr" Kemps patients should definitely think twice before bringing their pets to her. I will NEVER step foot in here again and I would NEVER recommend her to anyone that cares for their pet as if they are a family member or anyone with a pet for that matter, not even a stray.

I was a registered…read morefoster through this organization when there was a different president, for many many years. When Mary Elizabeth took over, this rescue and their mission went out the window. Last year I offered to help another foster with taking a Yorkie named Maya, to get her medical issues taken care of. Mary Elizabeth didn't like the price in Washington state, the bloodwork, dental procedure with multiple extractions and vaccines was going to be around $2000. MaryElizabeth said it was too expensive and she refused to negotiate with the veterinarian and refused ALL medical care for Maya, who was in desperate need of dental care. She told me to pay for it myself and she would waive the $600 adoption fee for 9 year old Maya. Because she was in obvious discomfort, I paid for it and adopted Maya. I refuse to do any future assistance with this rescue and I stopped all donations after I found out MaryElizabeth was paying her daughter under the table to do the books. The IRS is very interested in this when you're running a 501(c)(3). All donated funds are supposed to go to the care of the animals only. MaryElizabeth is not caring for the animals that she takes in, she says they don't have the money. Well if they don't have the money, they should not take in the rescues!!! Don't waste your money on this rescue, because it's not going towards the animals care.

I was very lucky to find a 5 month year old Yorkie named Milo on the YTNR website. I filled out the application and waited. For some reason the application did not process the first time. I found this out when talking with members of the organization. I really wanted to be considered in adopting Milo so I filled out the application again. It is a very long application so I do recommend taking time to answer each question. They seemed very important and I completely understood why they ask such questions. For example: Why do you want a young dog versus an older one? Do you have a secure yard and explain. The questions may seem personal but the org wants to make sure the pups are going to a good secure home. I received a call the next day from Milo's foster mom. We talked on the phone for about 45 minutes. I could tell this was a phone interview so I tried to sound as calm as possible but it was hard since I was excited I received the call in the first place. I was told that I was next in line if the current family looking over Milo passed on the adoption. To my surprise the family before me had to pass on adopting Milo. This was wonderful to Chewy and I. With all YTNR adoptions, you can either drive to pick up the dog or try and meet the foster family half way. I drove the entire way since I had time to do so. The foster family was very sweet and welcomed Chewy and I with open arms into their home. Milo was a ball of energy and very very cute. He was a bit skinny but he was teething and had a hard time eating his food. I also experienced the same thing with Chewy so I did not think much of it. Now I have two Yorkies. Chewy and I re-named Milo. His name is Solo Nho Xiu. Yes, I love Star Wars. Chewy Nho means small chewbacca and Solo Nho Xiu means tiny Solo. I love my furbabies and cannot believe how well Chewy and Solo get along. Thank you so much YTNR! Your a great organization. Keep it up!

I was lucky enough to get a tour OFSDS and this place is unlike any dog shelter I've ever seen, It's truly a sanctuary. They only cater to senior pups that we're either turned in, found, or the owner is no longer capable of caring for the dog. Every room here has a purpose; there areas for dogs who are missing limbs, blind or going blind, large outdoor areas for bigger pups, and even an indoor sensory area for dogs who are sensitive to bright lights and loud sounds. In this same sensory section is a water tank with a treadmill inside to help overweight pups get lean. They also have a huge restaurant sized kitchen, where they prepare and create food for dogs with dietary issues. I could go on forever about Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary, but you really should just experience it for yourself. They are always looks for dog loving volunteers!
