At this our first meeting at which I hinted I had several health issues, she preferred to ask more form questions - like the do you smoke, do you drink. All covered on a form and really now, have to take up the 20 minute office visit? Smoking no, drinking some - don't really pay attention, so she decided to delve in more minute questions she perceived as very important - the beer: were the cans, small, medium or large? Meanwhile I'm sitting there with chest congestion and perhaps a UTI. For the coughing she prescribed an inhaler which I discovered from the pharmacy costs more than $200. and needs a second authorization for which I could not get anyone at her office to answer the phone for several days. Finally, after explaining what was needed from the doctor for the pharmacy no action was taken. Nothing done. Nothing followed up on. Of the other matter, her lab test showed nothing of consequence and the message was, go to a urologist. No help in which, who, where. So after paying for rides to and from the doctor's office I accomplished nothing. Nothing.

I've had blood drawn by this particular tech in the past so I know this person is capable of doing it professionally. I've also had blood drawn about a dozen times in the past 3 years by 8 or 9 different lab techs, and I have not once had an issue. I will never return to this lab and I encourage people to stay away. The bad: The office staff are good, but the overall environment is poor (long waits). The good: my doctor is really good and I will return to see her.

I've changed doctors with Medstar 4-5 times in the last 2 years mainly because people leave the practice or more to different offices. I remember when I was younger, an annual physical was much more than just asking you questions and then adjusting your medications, but the doctors don't even touch you other than listening to your breathing. I also don't like that they send you all these emails and text messages to pre-register but then when you get to the office you still have to scan and enter the same data in again. What's the point in pre-registering and wasting time if I'm going to have to do it all over again at the office. So, I just don't anymore.

They like us the same way vampires like people - we're just funding their yachts and second vacation homes. They don't care if you live or die or if your quality of life is piss poor, so long as you pay that copay and all the subsequent "procedural" fees you'd have to pay. He also bragged about be hated ao much by patient's. He is a piece of work. The last straw was when I waited 2 and a half hours. At this point I knew it would end bad because he would rush through and not answer my questions. Apparently he had a clause where you can only see him for one issue at a time. I came in, i told him my issue, and I asked him to just look at my foot because there was a dark spot on the bottom being diabetic i was concerned and didn't think it was a big deal. He then proceeded to tell me "i'm on of those people"...i looked at him and asked what he meant. I said, I need to make a new appointment just to have you tell me if this is dangerous or not!? I started grabbing my things because after almost 3 hours of waiting for him i was pretty pissed that he would go there. I said, is this how this is going down!? I said i didn't have time for this mess. He followed me through the halls yelling. SO THIS IS YOUR LAST TIME COMING!? ...SHOULD I PLAN ON NOT SEEING YOU AGAIN? mind you ther was a room full of patients, and this man was now yelling at me down the hall. I said...well with this service maybe this will be the first time. I walked out to the waiting area. He loudly told him nurses I won't be back and talked more trash as i left. He mumbled something about my fill needing to be ready to transfer to a new doctor. I haven't been back and i've considered pressing charges for neglect to properly treat me blood pressure. I ended up going to GW who have been great at making sure my Blood Pressure came down to safe numbers and constantly checking in on me.

He examined me and decided that I had some sort of problem with the nerve endings in my hip (never mind that this condition was extremely rare and was characterized by symptoms that I did not have). He didn't know enough about what he diagnosed me with to tell me about it without looking it up--and then instead of telling me what I should do, he made copies of a medical book for me to take with me. He also has misdiagnosed not one, but two of my co-workers, who have seen him. I have not heard a single positive review of him, and I'm honestly pretty concerned about his capability as a physician.

And she immediately put me at ease, listened to ALL THE THINGS within my medical history, and sent me fantastic, thorough follow-up emails to let me know what was going on with my insides. Stephanie was able to have a focused, informative discussion with me while keeping a warm, friendly tone. She is simultaneously engaging and professional. She always spoke to me at length regarding my health and was always on top of whatever test, labs or Rx's I needed. Dr. Panahy was an excellent physician - caring, cooperative, informative and spent time with you despite the requisite 20 mins. that was usually mandated for appointments. Dr. Panahy has been my primary care doctor since 2004. Her practice has grown a lot since then -…read morelast I heard, she's no longer accepting new patients. I usually have to schedule my physicals a month or two in advance, and if I'm sick and need to get seen that day, I almost always have to settle for someone else in the practice. I usually don't have to wait long to be seen, and the practice seems to run fairly efficiently, aside from a recent frustration in getting a prescription refill. I find my annual checkups very helpful. Maybe it's just that I'm not trying to swaddle myself in a paper jacket and wrap - they usually give me a cloth gown. The office seems to schedule at least 30 minutes for annual checkups. Dr. Panahy is thorough, easy to talk to, and never seems rushed. She takes time to explain things, is well-informed, and is gentle during exams. She's been flexible with writing referrals, prescriptions for nonessential stuff like allergy meds and daily vitamins, and refilling prescriptions from specialists. The followup is fairly standard. If my labwork is normal, I get a letter in two weeks or so telling me the results. Dr. Panahy does call to discuss abnormalities. I haven't seen Dr. Panahy for any acute conditions, so I don't have a good feel for how she does with diagnosis. The other physicians in the office are okay.

Thorough, friendly, and knowledgeable, I couldn't be happier with the whole experience. I hadn't seen a doctor in three or more years, so I had a lot of questions. Dr. Kimbrough was extremely patient in dealing with any issue or concern I threw at him. One Medical Group is membership-based primary care. It costs $199/year, but is worth every cent (and then some). It's kind of like a medical "start-up" done right. Online scheduling, really long appointments, nice offices. Check 'em out.
