Having the need to seek out a lawyer, for whatever the reason or circumstance, is taxing, I know. However, appearing in court without legal guidance and representation is worse. Simple and amicable divorce. Staff routinely ran up unnecessary bills. Non-attorney staff bill at an excessive rate and frequently "misconstrue" or "misunderstand" very clear emails to pad their bills. They also send incomplete emails so they can then send another email later (and bill for that one too). Also liked to bill for "check up emails" of a couple words at a time. Total cost was more than triple the initial estimate. In general, the job of the support staff and paralegals did not seem to be to help the client but rather to run up and pad the bill. The rates the paralegals charge are close to attorney rates in other law firms. The work, however, is nowhere near that quality. I ended up finishing it completely on my own after the final submission they prepared was rejected multiple times by the court for technical defects. I would never, under any circumstances, recommend this law firm. Experiences like this are what give attorneys a bad name. read more

My experience was not very good. I hired the firm for my domestic partner dissolution, child custody visitation. Over all my case was handled poorly by the attorneys on the case. Brian Mullen made a rookie mistake in court by not writing up a supposed agreed upon stipulation while we were in court , which ended up costing me when the agreement was never signed later. I was then handed off to a very inexperienced associated who was very nice and tried but just didn't have the experience to handle my case and opposing counsel. I ended up signing a poorly worded order that was pretty much written by opposing counsel for my ex . I agreed to the terms , but the wording of what I agreed is what was terrible and causes so many gray areas and loopholes I had to go back to court (with a new attorney ) to fight to see my son and spend even more money on attorney's fees. read more

When in court, I didn't feel Matthew spoke up and was not aggressive enough. My income is difficult to estimate and the opposing party fed on that. I lost the case which nobody I know thought would happen, Matthew even said he didn't see that coming... Then speak up before it happens!! I'm out thousands which I can't afford, receive no alimony (seriously, married 27 years and he makes twice my income) I cant recommend this firm. read more

When I first experienced W&F, Sarah made a VERY difficult process a bit easier to take. Sarah was fantastic in presenting information, keeping me informed both of what was happening and what realistic options I had. As the process was almost finished, Sarah moved on to a different firm and my case was passed to Bruce. Bruce clearly did not want to be bothered by my case or myself. The few weeks dealing with Bruce was almost unbearable. Through other people, I had to contact the managing partner just to get Bruce to respond to me. As Sarah was no longer at the firm, I can not in good conscience recommend W&F based on my experience with Bruce. read more
