Not only was she fantastic, but so was the nurse who I met with first for measurements and drops, and the front office staff! This place ran like a well oiled machine! I think plenty for the number of appointments that could occur at the same time. This store is quite large inside. Tons of frame options from Shinola to Maui Jim's. They even have WiFi. Doctor Sasha Kashat is the sweetest AND knowledgeable. I love her professionalism and kindness all in one. Happy to drive an hour one way to see her.

We are closing at 5:00 today." I explained that my son needed a new prescription. The associate responded, "We can try to help, but we are closing at 5:00 p.m. We weren't going to open today because of the watermain break, but we did and closing early". I explained that the website said the store was open today despite the watermain break and no indication of early closure. The associate said she could try to help, but again, "We are closing at 5pm". When she asked about insurance information, I shared I would need to locate my card. She replied that I could look for the insurance card, but that they were closing at 5:00." I had also hoped to look at glasses since the posted hours and website indicated the store would remain open until 7:00 p.m., but instead I left abruptly due to the poor customer service and repeated comments about the store closing early. I felt as though I was inconveniencing the associate simply by coming in during the posted business hours. I was also told to come back tomorrow, which is not possible for me. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and because of it I will be looking for a different optical center.

The place…read moreI used to go to (Normandy Optical) has really gone downhill the past few visits, so I decided to take my business elsewhere. I found this through the insurance that I currently have and would receive a free exam through them. They do sell frames here, but I'm going to get them somewhere else for a few different reasons. I called ahead to make sure they would work with my current insurance and they were able to find me in the system. I booked an appointment and was able to be seen within a few days of my phone call. Anyway, I walked in and the staff at the desk here was super friendly and helpful. I informed them of what I was there for and they checked me in and answered all my questions. Ok, so here's where I docked a star. If your running a doctors office, and you accept insurance, please don't ask me what I have covered "in my plan." I know there's lots of different insurance companies with different forms of coverage, but it's vision, and usually the coverage's fairly standard across the board regardless of who's paying (the insurance company, not the person.) I spent the time to educate myself on what I get through this specific coverage, so I knew what I was walking into. Free eye exam, 20% discount on progressive bifocals, etc. Even though I absolutely love the staff here, nobody seemed to know about coverage. Fortunately, I did. So, even though I had considered purchasing frames and the lenses from this specific location, it wasn't financially feasible for me at this time. The doctor here is fabulous, very professional and efficient. I was in and out in no time and have a prescription to get new glasses so I can see again. I would come back here in a heartbeat as this office is well run, efficient and the staff here is really one of a kind. Dr. Weingarden really knows his stuff and wasted no time and did a fabulous job. I can't brag enough about how wonderful and helpful the staff is, and I will gladly return in the future. I went to Castleman Eye Center for my annual exam. Well, to be more specific my glasses broke and I…read moredecided I couldn't wait any longer for my eye exam. The receptionist was friendly when I called to make an appointment, and I was able to get an appointment about two weeks from the time I called. That's the perfect length--- if they would have said "oh come in this afternoon!" I would be worried, and if it would have been four months I would have been annoyed. When I arrived at the appointment, I was greeted by a friendly employee at the front desk and given a couple pages of paperwork to fill out in a clean, comfortable waiting room. Almost immediately after my paperwork was complete, I was brought back for my exam with a pleasant medical assistant. The exam was very thorough. They measured my prescription twice- once before and once after using the dilating drops. Dr. Singh then completed her own portion of the exam, and noticed an abnormality. She did a couple extra tests to make sure all was a-okay. I appreciated how she explained the situation to me, and was grateful they were checking everything out. They accepted my insurance for exams but not frames, so they happily printed out my prescription for me to take to another eyeglass store. I've had eye doctors give me a hassle for doing this before, so I really appreciated how easy they were to work with. This is a much more thorough exam than you would find at a walk-in or chain eyeglass store (Pearlevision, Sears Optical, etc.). At Castleman they are doing a medical examination of your eyes, not just testing your vision. In my opinion this is a good value and worth the slightly extra time to book an appointment. In fact (random side note), I had an acquaintance that basically had the diagnosis of his brain cancer start with an ophthalmologist's exam. If he would have gone to his usual mall optometrist, it likely would have been missed and progressed further without treatment. This place is definitely on my "recommend" list-- I'll be back (when necessary)!

I am suspicious of their billing practices because I had the same problem twice. I have both…read morevision insurance and medical insurance. At my last exam I was told that since I had early cataracts my exam would be billed as a Medical cost not as a vision exam. I payed the $40 medical insurance copay at the time of the visit. A couple of weeks later I received a bill for $35 dollars which I inquired about and was told this was the vision exam cost. I asked why this was not sent to the vision insurance and was told that I said at the exam I wanted to pay out of pocket. That is not true, there was no discussion ever about an additional payment. I was told that this was not usual for them. I asked to get an explanation why this happened this time but have not received a promised return call with explanation. This is the second time I've gotten a billing for a covered procedure. I believe this may be an attempt to double bill patient and insurer for the same exam, possible if I had not noticed and questioned it. One time a reasonable mistake twice is suspicious.

The frontline staff and nursing staff are superior in professionalism and care. They gave a…read moredetailed explanation of procedures which was repeated by each person on the care team. They gave explanations with confirmed explanations established by the previous care provider. It is totally assuring. The doctors on the other hand ( not the primary surgeon) were not as kind as the nursing staff. There was a feeling of not working in the desired position or venue or simply in need of better bedside manners. They could be kinder and less condescending. They were professional nonetheless. The aftercare was superior as well. This was not an institutional experience like corporate hospitals are but very appropriately sized for out patient care. Parking and building are adequate and clean for its purpose.

Now, I am leaving this review as a driver that must wait in the waiting area for the patient. Wait time for this procedure is 2 hours. What is missing is a water dispenser or bottled water chiller, coffee area and breakfast bars. My doctor's office has them, my nail salon, hair salon, car dealer has them as a convenience for those waiting. This surgery center should have them, as well. Two hours is a long time to wait and you are instructed not to leave while the person you are waiting for is in surgery. Just a suggestion.
