I had some Cubs memorabilia type items that I wanted to frame and thought better of taking them to a big box retailer to be done. A few years back I had an item framed at a local framing shop in Arlington Heights. While they did a nice job, I felt like I had taken out a second mortgage to pay for it. After searching Yelp, I came across Will Frame It in Glenview. Good reviews and several said their pricing was fair, so I decided to give them a try. First up was a pair of seventy year old Cubs/Wrigley Field scorecards. A gift for a friend who has given me several baseball pieces the past few years. But now he's moving out of town, so timing became more of an urgency. Sat down with their team and they showed me some options. I typically like darker mattes around pieces, but they showed me one that was more on teh white side and I acquiesced to their suggestion. Glad I did - it came out great and I was very pleased. I was also meeting my friend about ten days after I visited their store which was about a week earlier than their turnaround time. They said they thought they could get it done in time - and they did. Just stopped back again to get a second piece done - a combination of black & white photos along with baseball cards representing the players in those photos. Once again I sat down with their staff and reviewed some options. I'm feeling good about this piece and will know in a few weeks when it's done (no urgency on this one!). Overall a friendly staff, thoughtful suggestions, nicely done work and FAIR pricing. Kudos! read more

I tried out Will Frame It for the first time, recently; I was impressed (and intrigued) by all the great reviews--plus I loved how they were open later (6 pm on a Saturday--which was great for me since I tend to wake up later on weekends), than the other framers nearer to me in the Arlington Heights / Schaumburg area. So, I brought over 2 art prints to get framed. Will Velasco - the owner (and THE "Will" in Will Frame It), helped me out. He was so very cool, personable, knowledgeable, and tasteful, when making his recommendations on the best ways to frame my art prints. Sure enough, when I went to pick them up 2 weeks later (right on time!)--I was blown away!! I've long known Will Frame It in Glenview was extremely overpriced, as I've requested quotes in the past, but have ordered elsewhere. They are close by, and I needed to price out the framing of a sports poster that was approximately 32 x 44. They did have the special type of reflective control glass I like to use, so that was good. So an employee and I discussed using a wood frame. Quoting two different styles of wood, it was either going to cost me well over $500 or up to $700-plus. I could barely hold my laughter. This was no special, high-end wood or decorative, two tones, like you'll see on a lot of museum art. I said thanks, I'll be back, and went to The Great Frame Up in Niles. The owner, Sandy, helped me pick out a real nice looking wood frame to highlight the poster image. Final price with tax, etc: $292. My two cents worth is, unless you've got money to burn, I recommend you always get quotes from The Great Frame Up to compare. read more

He helped me look for someone who could restore a painting and then, when that failed, he did some digging around for a recommended portrait artist to copy the painting at a reasonable price. I wanted to put together a gallery wall but had only the faintest idea of how to do it. Will went out of his way to help me and to work with me to get exactly what I wanted. For example, when I told him I want to be able to switch out the photos when I get tired of them, he set things up on the frames so I could do that easily... and then took me through step by step how to switch things out. (Like I said, I have only the faintest idea about these things!) He also patiently worked with me to select frames for seven different pictures. We found ourselves with about a dozen paintings (mostly canvases but also some other pieces) after a few awesome vacations that were starting to gather dust in the basement. When we finally got around to framing them, we had no idea where to go so of course turned to Yelp. The reviews were spot on and this place did a fantastic job. The guy working there had a great eye for recommending what would look nice and narrowing down the choices (otherwise we would probably still be there deciding!). Everything turned out phenomenally! And we were concerned about fitting one of the pieces in our car and one of the workers offered to deliver it (though we didn't end up needing it). The only snafu was that it took a couple of weeks though they initially told us one week...but they were definitely worth the wait. I'll go back to this place for any future framing needs.
