When we first starting working with Amanda for our wedding photography, she was helpful and responsive. Once we decided to cancel our wedding, her emails were short, she would forget what dates we were to reschedule our engagement photos and wasn't helpful at all with recommendations of what to wear for our bio photos and replied late via email. I spoke to her once over the phone and the rest were just emails. One would also think that she would have at least called to follow up and confirm, but instead she sent a one sentence email. To what I feel is bad business etiquette. (We wanted to still have some type of photos done since we gave her a large deposit- 1/2 the amount of total package and didn't want to easily give her that money). We signed the agreement on 03/31/10 and ONLY NINE days later, we regretfully had to cancel our wedding. You would think as in "good faith", she would give us some of our deposit back, but all she said was "sorry". I understand that it is in the contract that the deposit is non-refundable, but one would think with only a few days in signing the contract that she would "be human" and give us at least half of our deposit back. It is still with great hesitation that we decided to not work with her at all and give up our $650 deposit. Someone with this type of work ethic (or lack thereof) will not be in business long. I find it very disheartening that someone wouldn't have the understanding and be empathetic and provide some compensation. Bad form. read more

My husband and I got engaged in August 2007 and immediately started interviewing photographers to do our engagment photos and wedding photos. We were extremely nervous and didn't know what to expect. We met Amanda at a cafe' and took a look at her work and we were excited to see how talented she was. Amanda immediately made us feel comforatable. After meeting with Amanda we went to dinner and it didn't take us long to decide to book her. We called her that night and booked her. We set up a time and place for our engagement photos. Amanda was extremely helpful with suggestions of what to wear. When we arrived we were nervous and tight. Amanda lossened us up and had us feeling comfortable in no time. She had great pose ideas and had us feeling like naturals. She even had us laughing, we had a blast. After the session, I was anxious to see our pictures and she was able to get them to us in a timely manner. Our pictures came out great! As soon as I saw them I knew I had to buy the CD. I printed some and have had them up in our home ever since. When our wedding day came around in August of 2008 Amanda was wonderful. She was everywhere we wanted and needed her to be. She even helped to get some of our other vendors in line! She took wonderful pictures and captured every moment of our special day. She did whatever it took to take the best shots, including climbing on things. I am so grateful for her efforts because our photos were priceless. We even had guests coming up to us telling us how wonderful and nice our photographer was being. Since our wedding we have hired Amanda to take other photos for us, we really enjoy working with her. I have recommended her to countless friends. I keep our wedding album out on the table and show anyone who is willing to look. We have had numerous compliments about our photos. We got the engagement pictures after a week and it did not disappoint. It was beyond my expectation. All the pictures came out great! We love all the pictures that Amanda took, making it hard for us to chose which picture to use for our wedding. We ended up showing a slide show of our engagement pictures in the wedding reception. My wife and I were on a very tight budget when planning our wedding. We were worried the amount of money we were able to spend would mean having to sacrifice quality when it came to our wedding photos. We absolutely loved the portfolio work Amanda had on display at the San Diego Bridal Bizarre. Her package prices were also very reasonable. We set up an appointment for Amanda to shoot our engagement photos first so we could see how we liked the work. We spent an hour in Balboa Park and came away with so many pictures thanks to Amanda's professionalism. She really understood what we wanted and how to get the best pictures without spending more time then necessary shooting random pictures. I happened upon a deal from Amanda (via the Knot) for an engagement session after having booked some other complete douche who was also listed on the site (he's lucky I don't even remember his name). I called her up, told her about the horrible experience I'd had in booking the other photographer and she listened patiently and made me feel at ease immediately. I had a good feeling about her from the start. We quickly chose a date, time, and location for our engagement shoot and soon my (then) fiance and I were on our way to San Diego! To make a long story short, she was more than I could have even asked for in a photographer. It was an engagment session. It was an experience! By the time we got to the last session of the day and my (now) husband and I found ourselves clinging to each other in the middle the ocean (note: I'm deathly afraid of open water) with my hair soaked, my makeup running, and my leg bleeding after being dashed upon a rock by a big wave YET still smiling and having the time of our lives, we knew we'd allow no othern photographer to set foot at our wedding. Fast forward to the wedding. 1 word. EPIC. We ended up eloping in Vegas before hopping a plane to Paris for 2 weeks so our wedding date essentially ended up being a big party. And Amanda and her assistant know how to party! As soon as the DJ dropped the first beat and everyone rushed the floor, I instictively searched for Amanda because I didn't want her to miss that moment. But silly me. I turned around and who was already in the middle of the crowd standing on a chair getting the perfect aerial shot? Ms. Darosett. By the end of the night, she and her assistant had been spied in so many different locations putting themselves in all kinds of compromising positions to get the perfect shot that several guests HAD to know who this crazy woman was! She really is a sight to see: a little woman with so much energy and crazy good visions. I'll take it! After our wedding, we couldn't just let her get away so naturally she was booked for my sister-in-law's engagement shoot and subsequent wedding a few months later. To sum it up, I've seriously been trying to come up with other events to have Amanda photograph since the day we met. She's that good. read more

My husband and I had the best experience during our hour long session with Amanda and our photos turned out better than I could have dreamed! The most important thing to me is that Amanda got my husband to SMILE! He doesn't smile in photos but she kept telling him to smile bigger and the results are amazing. When I was going through the photos I kept gasping because my husband's smile is huge and perfect! Our overall experience was absolutely 5 stars. Amanda made every minute of our photo shoot count. Right when we arrived she started taking photos. She has a good eye and makes sure she captures good angles, good poses and good scenery. On our particular day the beach was packed but there are no people in the background of our pictures. Another thing that was great was the timeliness of everything. Quick responses to emails, she was early for the photo shoot so we were able to start right away and best of all, the photos were ready to view after 2 days! We first had our engagement photos done with Amanda through a groupon type deal. We really enjoyed our experience then and were pleasantly surprised that we weren't ripped off or treated weirdly because it was a groupon. haha. We got our pictures pretty quickly and liked them a lot. We booked her for our wedding photography as well. We received our pictures a few months later due to some mail complications but Amanda made sure that we were satisfied with her service and products. Not only did she make my husband feel comfortable (he's not too into posing for pictures!), but her prices were reasonable and her pictures came out beautiful. When the printer made a few errors in our album, she worked hard and quickly to get those errors corrected... she even came to my work to drop off one of the corrected books! We found an offer for engagement pictures on one of the many websites I came across while wedding planning and we figured we'd make a weekend getaway out of it! We're from the L.A. area and drove out to San Diego to take advantage of the great deal.
