If they are non profit get in touch with the secretary of state of Oregon and complain! The adoption non profits are expected to follow the Oregon Statues for Animal Rescues. Also complain to Petsmart where you adopted these dogs/cats if there's issues with information, & call backs. Petsmart has a application process which screens adoption groups. You have to list and give info when you wish to use their facility to adopt out pets. I tried myself for a bird club and we don't screen lost and abandoned birds when members accept surrendered birds. So we didn't qualify by Petsmart standards. Talk to the Petsmart Manager. I adopted a kitten at a PetSmart Adoption event in Happy Valley Oregon in October 2012. The group was from Eastern Oregon. The animals were in good condition and humanely crated. It was the first time I did this and thought it was a good partnership. I donated money to PetSmart charities based on this event. " After waiting many long minutes, the woman the Smiths had contacted about adopting Ali, then-president of Willamette Animal Rescue, Alicia Inglish, showed up to the event. "When I met Alicia, she was very awkward and very disorganized," Smith said. "Because Ali was filthy, they took a wet paper towel and wiped (her) down. The smell was horrific." HOW DID EMPLOYEES AT THIS STORE NOT THINK THIS WAS A PROBLEM? A REPUTABLE SHELTER WOULD HAVE BATHED ANIMALS AT A MINIMUM. A REPUTABLE SHELTER WOULD NOT HAVE CRAMMED 4 DOGS INTO CAT CRATE. WHO OVERSEES THIS PROGRAM AT THE STORE AND CORPORATE LEVEL? HAVE THESE EMPLOYEES BEEN FIRED OR REPRIMANDED? I WANT TO SEE PETSMART ESTABLISH MANDATORY REPORTING THE SAME WAY OREGON LAW REQUIRES MANDATORY REPORTING OF CHILD ABUSE. AT THE LEAST, PETSMART ENABLED A SCAM FOR MONEY TO CONTINUE UNDER THE GUISE OF CARING FOR ANIMALS. AT THE WORST, PETSMART ENABLED AN ANIMAL ABUSER. I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. read more

Be smart. Don't be deceived. If you can't see the puppy at the foster home, don't trust her. The foster parents can't always be on vacation or emergency trips. It's sad for the poor animals to be handled by an irresponsible and dishonest person. Even more sad, when you get your children a puppy that you learn days later may not live because of those lies. I recently adopted a dog from Willamette Animal Rescue. At First things were great and professional. But as soon as the check was handed over, down hill from there. Part of the adoption was mircochipped, all vaccines, records etc... Vet records were never sent, no matter how many times I called. I then find out that he was not up to date on his shots. So now I have to pay to make sure he has everything done. Then it got to the point where no one would return my calls. I finally found out what vet he was going to during his fostering, just to get all the info I needed. The girl that was fostering him told me I could just call any vet to have his microchip put in my name NOT TRUE. She has to call the company and inform them that he is under new ownership, in order for me to put the microchip under my information. It took the vet he was going to, to get a hold of her to do that. She also said that she would get me his history records from the shelter he was at where she got him. Still waiting on those also..... I'm a strong believer in Adopting a pet, but this is a little much... My family and I are truly happy with our new dog. Willamette Animal Rescue on the other hand.... Horrible and frustrating!!! Their are plenty of places to adopt. From my advice check this one off your list if you come across them. read more

my mom adopted a dog from this animal rescue and didn't have a good experience. the dog was for my step brother who is going through some rough issues. my mom adopted a dog in hopes to make my brother happy, but the dog wasn't a good match for my brother as well as for our household. my mom returned the dog and followed all the information on her contract to fix the issue with either getting a dog that would workout or her money back. since she did this they have not answered her back by phone or email to resolve this issue. and my mom informed me that now this place as disconnected their cellphone to avoid her even more. I can't believe that a place such as this that wants to help animals find homes can't fix an simple issue and this shows me that people are dishonest. i just wish they would resolve the issue for my mom. just give her the respect and money back. read more

Good freaking luck with these people! If you have any issue with the dog beware they will give you basically the middle finger. My dog has had every issue know to man and they brought it INFECTED with a contagious disease to PETSMART!! Where unknown to me I adopted it. They dog was sick and people were bringing their personal animals to visit with it at the store!. I asked for more background on the dog and no such luck. I'm a PROBLEM now lol. The dog now has a life-long issue and they won't give me background on the animal. Just FYI to everyone who thinks so what...I love the dog and have told them I will not bing it back. I want nothing from them. So word to the wise a higher price for adoption does not mean the people are reputable at all. You might as well go to the pound.
