He used my own insecurities about how my foot looked against me to convince me to get toe shortening's promising it'd make my toes better than they were before and that I would end up with hammertoes if he didn't shorten them. All while assuring me the procedure was completely routine and safe, that he's performed hundreds of them (horrifying to reflect on now). I feel dumb for ever believing him. By shortening the toes he created hammertoes and arthritis in the middle joints. My surgery was performed september 2020. He caused a large bone spur to form, increased the angle of my bunion, took too much bone so now I'd need a bone graft from my hip to fix, and further rotated the sesimoid so that only one knob hits the ground when I walk making it incredibly painful to walk barefoot or without cushioned insoles. Not to mention my previously functioning lesser toes being crippled by his "corrective" surgery. He is a bad bad person. Do not go to him. If you need bunion surgery I highly suggest going to an orthopedic foot surgeon as I'm discovering more and more that most podiatrist surgeons should not be trusted for any surgery. I wish I'd known more at the time and I wish there had been more on the internet warning me of the predatory nature of podiatry or else I'd still have my functioning toes and wouldn't need another surgery to correct the bunion he only made worse. He 100000% should not have a medical license at this point. Remember, health care in this country is a for-profit BUSINESS. Do not get conned by going to this person.

He performed a major reconstruction of both my feet in 2020. Since then, I've had a new type of pain that isn't going away, and completely deformed, crooked toes. I went to multiple post op opinions, last being with an orthopedic surgeon from HSS and everyone was horrified with my scars, surgery, and before/after photos. Everyone is asking 'why?' In retrospect, my biggest mistake was not getting a second opinion after seeing Dr Voloshin. I blindly trusted in what Dr Voloshin told me (he is a 'doctor' after all!) . I had no concept of understanding of how surgery should be done and what are the risks associated with it. Dr Voloshin didn't explain the risks to me of the procedures he was going to do, like toe shortening, ironically, he assured me, that I won't even notice, that anything was performed on my toes,that flexibility will back 100% in a few months, that I'm going to thank him forever,"I guess won't forget him now forever". If he would have told me that the toes may not heal properly because of how RISKY the surgery was, that the toes are going to be stiff forever - I would have never agreed to the surgery. My toes and feet were healthier before, I didn't have a hammer toe, but now, only God knows how I can find a specialist who can fix the awful, botched job that Dr Voloshin performed on me. I'm only 37.On top of it all, I am not able to do any sports or physical activity because of the amount of pain I'm in and stiffness of my toes.I'm destroyed. Seriously, when I got here I thought, "Good God this guy is going to use a hacksaw to take my foot off!" To my surprise they actually had working computers...LOL! If you can look past the severely outdated office, the antiquated items you may see in exam rooms, the peeling plaster on the walls you will find the staff super nice and the doctor is an experienced foot God! No the staff won't light incense and shake a dead chicken around your foot in tribute to the good doctor. I meant he's more like God sent, not literally a deity. I run often and twisted my ankle pretty badly a few months back but had pain that came and went. The previous doctor that i visited a few months ago had all the high tech fancy gadgets was probably fresh out of medical school but was clueless as to why I was feeling severe pain in my ankle. Thankfully Dr. Wolfson with all his vast experience quickly identified why I was experiencing pain as an ankle fracture. Had I not sought a second opinion with this office I very well could have done some unintentional permanent damage to my ankle. I caught a foot condition from…read morebeing barefoot in a martial arts class and it was very clear what the condition was once I did some research (there was a guy in class with terrible-smelling feet that overwhelmed the entire room.) I asked for a test and oral medicine to ensure the condition didn't spread and was eradicated completely. The doctor denied both the test and the medicine and suggested the OTCs I was already using because she "didn't see anything". Meanwhile my feet were getting burning sensations that only started AFTER the class where I was barefoot. I never had that before in my life. The condition went away then came back and I AGAIN contacted this office asking for oral medication or, at least, a test so that I couldn't be denied the oral medication I wanted. Again, both were denied and the doctor prescribed a topical medication that didn't work. So, suffice it to say, I won't be returning to this office. I've spent more money and been exposed to way more medication-toxins than I would have been if the office had just honored my original request.

I'm updating my previous review. I've now been to this podiatrist 3 times in a year (twice within 4…read moreweeks). My issue is that I returned after a year of trying conservative management of my painful feet issues, to no avail. I needed a more in-depth investigation into the cause of the pain. He ordered an ultrasound of my feet which I had done at an NYU facility, and he ordered PT with very generic diagnoses (not based on any diagnostic evidence). In retrospect, PT should have been ordered after the ultrasound results were reviewed. The day I started PT I received my US results so I was able to show the PT the results, because he wanted to know what we were treating, since it was vague. I have multiple neuromas, plantar plate tears and little toe joint inflammation. The PT said PT doesn't help for neuroma pain and was annoyed by the lack of direction from the podiatrist. And I was getting annoyed as well. I went to my follow up podiatry appointment and it was like we were meeting for the 1st time. He didn't remember what my problems were or that I had had an ultrasound. He gets the results but I guess doesn't read them in advance, like not even right before I walk into his office, like just read your past notes quickly so that you remember the background info of the patient's issue. So I reiterated all my pain issues and informed him I did the US he ordered and has he seen the results as well. He then quickly looked at it and reiterated the neuromas (which aren't new), didn't mention the bursitis or the ligament tears. I had to point it out and ask. We talked about cortisone injections which I wanted to try since I really just wanted some relief. The 1st injection was so rough and painful that I flinched and felt the needle (which started through the top of foot) hit or even go through the ball of my foot. It's been 6 weeks and I still feel pain in that spot, like there's a small rock in the ball of my foot. I did another injection in my peroneal tendon which also hurts, and it helped very minimally. I also finally conceded to custom orthotics. He seemed a little clumsy making the molds (which were tbe foam boxes you step in and aren't used by most good podiatrists anymore) and had to do it over. He said it should take about 4 weeks and they'll call me when it's ready. After 6 weeks I hadn't heard from anyone so I called. The receptionist didn't know what I was talking about and there was no note of the molds being sent out. Plus, had they been sent out and received, I would've been billed since they won't make them without being paid first. So he probably stuck them in a corner somewhere, and maybe they got thrown out and he didn't remember he made them in the 1st place, because had he realized they didn't go out, you'd think he'd call and apologize for the mishap and we need to redo the molds. I went and saw someone else shortly after who was much more helpful, ordered an MRI, rx'd anti-inflammatories, taught me taping techniques, made casts for orthotics which I got back within 2 weeks. So, he's a nice guy, and made an ok 1st impression, but is overall pretty sloppy, has poor follow through, and questionable skill with procedures and diagnostic ability...

Upsetting...I went in to be proactive on a potential ingrown toenail. I am scrupulous about taking…read morecare of my feet due to a history of a broken leg with metal from a cycling accident 3 years ago. My orthopedic surgeon from HSS had told me to be careful as that leg with the metal plates is more vulnerable to infection. So when I thought I was getting an ingrown toenail I thought I was being proactive and researched and found Dr Newmark who had positive reviews. I made an appointment for that very day. That perhaps should have been my first warning. That he had an available appointment immediately. His bedside manner is very nice and due to his positive reviews I felt at ease. However as he was cutting (just a little of the toenail in his words) he cut my toe quite deeply. I couldn't believe it. When I got home and evaluated it more closely I was so upset. I called him and asked him for oral antibiotics to prevent an infection in that leg with the metal plates. But first he said are you sure I cut you and that it is not the Betadine? First of all I know he knows he cut me as in the office he hid it from me with his hand blocking my view of the bleeding so that was completely disingenuous. Second of all I am in the healthcare profession myself and I know blood when I see it but even a child would have realized this was blood and not Betadine. Third of all the pain from this cut was and is intense. I wasn't going to post a review as I don't like posting anything negative and I also think he is a nice person. However nice doesn't make it OK and this could be a serious complication for me and I am so worried. I don't want anyone else to make a similar mistake and that is why I decided to share my experience. I showed the photos to a good friend who is a podiatrist and who had been cutting my nails for me the last 3 years since my accident and never once cut my toe. The only reason I didn't see her this time is she is away and I was being proactive. What a mistake on my part. Anyway my podiatrist friend said and I quote " I don't like saying anything bad about other doctors but this is inexcusable" I am also quite concerned about his sterilization methods and I pray his instruments were autoclaved. In hindsight I am very worried as the office (and again this is in hindsight and you know hindsight is always 20/20) didn't seem all that clean. Ugh so sorry to have to share this experience but I couldn't live with the thought I didn't share in order to prevent someone else from dealing with this.
