From the top you get a full 360° view of Duluth, including the aerial lift bridge, which was super cool to see. The tower's only a few stories high and has rails to help with the climb, though it's not ADA accessible. Along the way, we also learned about Mr. Enger and his impact on the city, plus Duluth's special ties to Norway. Definitely a neat little stop! Not to mention there was a Japanese Zen garden and a few trails.

The walk-in sites in general are all amazing, you're secluded from everyone else but still close to the amenities. Site 83 is about a 4-minute walk from where you park your car. There are two tent pads and plenty of space. It's a beautiful site--book it early! The amenities at the campground were great, plenty of places to recycle, fill up water, and throw out trash. The bathrooms are also very nice, but they are some of the busiest bathrooms I've ever seen! There are plenty of hiking trails as well, a great visitor center and gift shop, and it is an all around lovely state park.

I'm not super experienced at camping, but the campsites felt quite close together to me. Compared to other places we've been, the sites are much less private. There is also a picnic shelter with tables under it, nice hiking trails and a restroom facility. It is very picturesque and touts a bat hibernaculum to beautiful scenery. I would suggest bringing and putting on some bug spray when you visit here. The bugs were feasting on me. The Kettle River is easily accessible from this park. They have a boat launch there that you can set off on your kayak excursion. Robinson Park is an all-season park that offers ice and mixed climbing in the winter and sports climbing and bouldering the other times of year. The park has hiking and some small camp sites that can be reserved that have campfires and picnic tables. There is also some benches that you can sit on that overlook the river. The park does not have a playground area, any green space, basketball or tennis courts, but is still a decent spot. It is a decent park, especially for you adventurous types. It is well off of the beaten path and is a very peaceful spot. It is well maintained and does not get much traffic. I enjoyed my time there and hope to make it back there soon.

This was our first time driving into Duluth through Superior Wisconsin so we had to make a stop at Pattison State Park. Our favorite view of the Big Falls was from the parking area across the street from the park entrance ( you still need a park permit to park there). Short hike to the viewing area and they also have a selfie station to get a great picture in front of the falls. The colors were beautiful as we came in the fall time but I would love to come back in the spring to see the falls raging!

The bathrooms were clean for the most part but the showers were kind of gross- however some of that was due to other campers. They are also in the process of building a new shower/bathroom facility. The most standout part of our stay however was Ranger Chris. He was incredibly nice and helpful, especially towards my 5 year old who always has about a million questions and observations. Ranger Chris hooked him up (pun intended) with a series of much treasured "fish cards" and a neat activity book that we had fun completing as a family so my boy could earn a Wisconsin patch. Very special area of near-wilderness with some homes scattered about. We go up there every year for…read morea couple of days to view wildlife (especially birds, many of which can't be found regularly in other areas, including the magnificent great gray owl) especially during winter. Mammals seen there include deer (of course!), moose (if you're lucky), black bears, wolves (again - if you're lucky!), bobcats, coyotes, pine martens, snowshoe hares, red squirrels, the occasional porcupine, red fox, and more.
