The worst real estate experience imaginable:…read more In May of 2021, we were shown an apartment by Marcus. The showing was very brief and the tenants were making dinner during the scheduled showing. On move-in day, we walked into an unlocked home with the keys left there in the foyer. After walking the now vacant unit, we saw absolutely degusting things such as pet urine remains and scratches on the door and carpeting. This was covered up during the showing with runner rugs and propped open doors. My first call was to Marcus as he was the realtor who represented both parties on this transaction. He informed me that we should contact the landlord which we did. After a few weeks of back and forth, we were given a full refund by the landlord, not including the broker fee (half of a month's rent). I tried calling Marcus to request a refund from him and he had blocked my number. I called him from another phone and he answered the first ring. We sent Marcus a 30-day demand letter and he responded back that he would not refund us on day 30. We then took Marcus to small claims court and won. He admitted that he had first seen the property at the time of our showing. He was using photos that were not his and were essentially listing a property he had not seen. Marcus again waited until the last minute to send the check as we received it the day before the follow-up hearing. I took the time to write this review as this is unacceptable and an unethical way of doing business. If you want a realtor who will win for you, I would look elsewhere.
