We live in Virginia Beach though and the commute was HORRIBLE. We ended up getting to her appointment after the 10 minute grace period. I was frustrated and wanted to go home until I walked through the door and interacted with the staff, starting with Angela. The staff at Beach Eye Care were wonderful throughout this whole situation. I explained our situation to Angela and she listened emphatically and went back to see if she could squeeze my wife in. I wasn't expecting them to be able to do anything and they were so backed up that they couldn't take her but I'm so appreciative that she got out of her seat and even asked. I discussed with Myra and we decided that since we drove an hour and 25 miles to get out here we might as well ask about doing a walk in eye glass purchasing appointment. I didn't think they did walk ins but was pleasantly surprised when Vicki said we could. All we had to do was go schedule it at the front desk. After waiting a minute for someone to return to the front desk Vicki just came and took us back. Even though Myra couldn't do her eye appointment Vicki made our trek worth it and was able to help us both get straight with our glasses. Vicki has such an optimistic demeanor. She really made my wife feel beautiful and confident. She heard my needs and priorities as well and I got some prescription sunglasses for less than $200 out of pocket and they don't look bad at all. The sunglasses will be primarily used for driving since my transitions don't work in the car. I'm very pleased with this location and Beach Eye Care's exceptional customer service.

This was the first time out here at the Chesapeake office. We ran into HEAVY traffic on the way to…read moremy appointment and unfortunately got there 17 minutes late and I couldn't be seen for my appointment. The grace period is 10 minutes. But Angela at the front desk was so nice and helpful. She still checked with my doctor to see if it was possible for me to be seen that day. While I couldn't be seen, I was on the schedule for another appointment later in the week and me and my husband inquired about glasses. Vicki helped us pick out and find the perfect glasses. She was so sweet and patient! It took me about an hour and a half to find the right frames...there were so many great options to choose from. She went above and beyond -- she showed me different transitions lens options, activated the transitions colors multiple times so that I could get a good sense of how dark the different color options get, pulled a bunch of styles from the back, and even popped the lenses off of a pair of display sunglasses that she thought would match the glasses frame style I liked. I went with the frames in my review picture and am super excited about them! Vicki also helped my husband find a great pair of sunglasses too! Angela got us checked out and gave us some bottled water for the road. Great experience and customer service!

I've had a vision exam here as well as purchasing classes for myself. Exam wise I recommend 100%. However, I would NOT RECOMMEND this place for glasses. My son has had numerous vision and eye testing here. He currently has vision therapy every Tuesday for 12 months. They're giving him excellent care for this. You do have to pay out of pocket, they do not accept insurance and it's extremely expensive. I also purchased glasses for my son through them last year and it's process was subpar. The opticians were not very pleasant. They didn't seem very attentive. For me, my glasses have been back ordered, which is fine, but they don't do well reaching out to the customers to keep them in the loop. I had to call several times to inquire about my glasses. Takeaway: definitely get a eye exam here!! Go somewhere else for glasses!!!

We were greeted immediately by Reno, who gave us time to look around without hovering. Reno was so patient and kind. He answered all my questions and took me over to see the different color of lenses available several times, each time with a smile and a "Lets look again, I want you to be sure." Amanda had on these fantastic glasses, I asked her if she sold those in store, she said she would check to see if she had any and if not she would order them if she could. She could!! She did not have any in stock so without hesitation she says, "You can try my glasses." She took her glasses off, popped out the lenses, cleaned and sanitized them and allowed me to try them on, I LOVED them. So I was measured (with Amandas frames) =) and put in my order for them. My husband was able to find a pair of sunglasses he really liked. Reno also gave him information on the smart glasses that he was eyeing. Stacy was very knowledgeable in explaining the awesome foundation Onesight - they provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to those most in need. Gontarek was my first optometrist visit in over four years because life happens. From the moment I…read morecalled to schedule the appointment the Gontarek team was kind and helpful. The office itself can be a pain to get into as it is on the corner of Battlefield and Kempsville, but once you are inside, the pride and care in their practice is obvious. The waiting area is open and bright, and the glasses looking/fitting are is bright, warm, and inviting. I showed up about 10 minutes early to my appointment and was called back on time. I opted to have the retinal imaging as opposed to the standard eye dilation, and was surprised at the cost as it was $5-$10 more expensive than my kids' optometrist. I will say, the doc was thorough and listened, and did not seem rushed to get me out of the office. I received a good discussion on the results of the exam, and then was given everything I needed to request a referral from my primary care for follow up appointments. Overall a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend them.

After a great visit (super nice people) or two we settled in on three new frames and three new sets of lenses. Unfortunately, all three sets of lenses were not what I requested and had to be re-cut (at no cost). The second set of lenses were once again not what I asked for but this time the folks in the shop said that they would not fix them for free. I had already paid the initial $1,000 for the three sets of glasses and now all of them are not fully useable for my intended purposes. THEN, within a short period of time both my wife's and my (Edinburgh Eyecare) reading glasses lenses fell out of the wire frames and needed to be fixed...ughhh. Overall, great people but we just could not effectively communicate on my desires for the use (focal ranges/depth of field) of my glasses/sets of lenses.

They will also hound you relentlessly with calls and text messages never failing to mention THEIR cancelation fee...WE should be charging them a fee for wasting our time, after we both took off work for this fiasco! TOTALLY INCOMPETENT, GO ANYWHERE ELSE!
