The doctor's front office staff, Allie, is very friendly, as is his main assistant, Melissa. The office is very clean & well-organized. There's plenty of reading material available in the waiting room & we usually weren't forced to wait more than a few minutes for our scheduled appt. Dr. O'Neill has an excellent bedside manner & is very thorough in his examinations. My husband's fracture was rather severe & we often had questions that would arise before a scheduled visit of which Dr. O'Neill was always available to address by phone. As a cash patient, we especially appreciated that his prices were so affordable. One trip to the emergency room cost more than all 5 of our appts with Dr. O'Neill combined. As a line dancer teacher, I was always dancing in my boots. My toes were a mess. discolored, growing out crooked, and so thick they could not be clipped anymore. He was able to diagnose it was trauma and gave me the right plan for treatment. My toes are looking almost normal again. They schedule so there is not a lot of wait time in office. Even though my situation is not life threatening or needing surgery, I never felt my time in his care as not important to him. One of my best experiences with a medical professional! The doctor was in the room for less than five minutes before prescribing a strong anti-inflammatory medication and instructing me to return in one week to evaluate how it worked and discuss next steps for treatment. On the day of my follow-up appointment, I received a call that my appointment was being canceled due to an issue with my insurance referral. I had adjusted my work schedule for this appointment, so the last minute cancellation was highly unprofessional. I was told they would contact me once the referral issue was corrected, but I never heard back. As a result, I completed a week of strong medication with no follow-up care. Billing was also handled poorly. I initially received a bill for nearly $300, followed later by a corrected statement for $10 (my insurance co-pay) with no explanation for the error. Because the office requires payment by check (which I do not utilize), I called repeatedly from October through February to pay the balance over the phone by credit card. However, no one answered the phone, and I left multiple messages, including with after-hours staff, but never received a callback. In February, I finally received a call stating my balance was "deeply outstanding" and at risk of being sent to collections. When I explained that I had been trying for months to resolve the balance and had left multiple messages, the response was brief and dismissive, including the comment, "Oh, I guess I should check the messages." The lack of follow-up care, poor communication, billing confusion, and privacy concerns made this an extremely frustrating and unprofessional experience.
