Love this library, it is clean, beautiful, and the staff is amazing! However, I wish the following three issues could be attended to. 1. Chill with the A/C y'all! It's always too cold in here. Whether it's a heatwave outside or a monsoon, my fingers are always frozen. 2. There is no quiet. Especially the first floor is like a talk show. People are holding regular volume conversations about youtube videos and what not. You're in a library!!! It's ridiculous. 3. Sick students. I mean the person sounds like they are dying and yet they thought it was a good idea to bring their plagued self into a closed public place and spend hours coughing and sneezing without even covering their mouth. You'd think they're auditioning for a zombie movie. Their parents clearly failed, but why is the library failing? A friendly "Stay Home if You're Sick" sign would be so helpful! OR maybe a dedicated "Sick Bay" corner. I've changed rooms four times in just 2.5 hours! Come on people! read more

Great place to study!! Wonderful view of the entire Southbay/West-side of LA. Very quiet and students here are respectful. Tip: if you can ride a bike here, you don't need a permit. Parking can get expensive ($5/hour? Max out at $20 I think, and free on the weekend. read more

Disclaimer: i am not an LMU alum/student so this review is aimed for general visitors In a nutshell, the library is perfect. It is too good to be true. i have never even imagined that a library could be as beautiful , functional and eco-green as this one. Gone are the days when i would haggle tables and electrical sockets. Or when I have to cram all my stuff in their tiny tables. Now I am free =) Let me tell you something about myself. I am a senior graduate student in CSULA majoring in MSN/ACNP. I love my inner nerd and I am obsessed with sticky notes and high lighters. I have my share of coffee houses. The one close to my house opens at 4:30 am and closes midnight. I remember the other starbucks hours to a T. Lately, we had to do a couple of papers and I needed a quiet place to do this. I have been to a couple of public libraries but once again, YELP has saved me. First date. The library is beautiful. It has glass windows all through out and scenic views of playa del rey. It looks so majestic sitting on top of a hill. what a change from those dull white walls. It has 3 floors. The first floor is the information commons area and where the cafe is located. The 2nd and third floor is the usual books and study area. Stay with me. Did I tell you about the hours? They open at 8am and close at 8pm for visitors. If you reside in Westchester, Playa del Rey or playa vista then you can apply for a (Free) visitors card than will give you access after 8pm until 2am. After 2am, its only LMU alumni, faculty and students. The library's hours is basically "24/5" meaning they are open 24 hours from sunday to thursday then close earlier during friday/saturday. I love it when I go there. There are SO MANY students studying even after midnight that I feel embrassed browsing facebook in my laptop while everybody else in engrossed in their books (NOT!). (Dry) food and drinks with lids are allowed. The cafe closes at 1am. Be Green with Envy. The 2nd and 3rd floors house "group study" rooms that LMU students can reserve in 4 hours blocks. Since I have been going mostly nights there, I catch a glimpse of their pajama party. Chips and soda in the table. Open laptops and books. and of course in PJs. The walls inside these rooms are whiteboards so if you recall better with "images" such as me. The wall will be a handy tool to aid your memorization. The study area is a nice mix of comfy couches and square and round tables with ergonomic chairs. There is plenty to share. I could go on with this but I must be boring you already. I saved the best for last.. Parking. The first time I went here I stayed from 10am to 7:30 pm. I did valet (yes, its ALSO FREE) but when I came back I had a ticket stuck in my windshield wiper. WTH? It said I do not have permit to park there. How would I know? I gave my keys to the attendant. I then talked to somebody from security that told me that all visitors should stop by the MAIN security gate (first one when entering the campus) to get a visitor pass from the hours of 7-6pm. I gave them a copy of my car registration and the ticket got waived. Yey. I love LMU. So thankful they shared this library to night owls like me. Great library to study at. Pretty sure during winter months the second floor southwestern reading area by the windows doubles as an informatory. A huge concentration of people who have a cold. Luckily I did not get Corona while studying there. Nor do I think there is a chance of people getting it at LMU. the bathrooms are very clean only late Sunday nights does it start to look like a public university's bathroom at 9:00 am. I am not Christian but I like the cross that welcomes you. it is bright and white. Modern and old mixed in one instant. Much like the school. The library has low light. My friends brought their own reading lamps. If you need light I suggest you do the same. If there was a petting zoo outside of the library that would make it so much better. read more

Someone's post had mentioned $20 for parking so I wanted to clarify that the max is $12.50 on weekdays and free on weekends (I attached a photo from one of the parking garages). This library is like most college libraries, pretty chatty and social on the first floor and quieter on the upper floors. The library tables do get taken up quite fast and stay occupied for most of the day. The tables are usually clean although I do see food crumbs on the floor (I think they vacuum around the tables, not under them). The chairs are pretty old and have probably seen better days, some are falling apart and showing their insides. The WiFi is free and fast, and for the most part, ppl are quietly studying. Although, keep in mind, this is a college campus and quite a bit of sneezing/nose blowing going on (bring extra purell!) read more

The LMU Library already knows about my love for them, but I'll express it again anyways, I LOVE YOU. I attend LMU for graduate school, and this is by faaaarrr the best library I have ever been to. It's brand new and has chairs/tables/couches for any and everyone to sit and study. The view of Los Angeles from the library is absolutely beautiful. People who don't even attend LMU come to this library all the time to study because it's that great. If you're a student and want to reserve a study room, reserve either room 313, 314 or 315!!! Fireplace with big chairs on the 2nd floor to make studying cozy 2. Group study rooms on 2nd & 3rd floors that come with whiteboard walls for studying visuals and/or silly doodles 3. Lots of Macs on the first floor 4. Free locker storage on first floor 5. Again, YELP! Helps. I too, am not an LMU student ( I wish I could afford to go here). I am a student of an online university and have been having trouble studying at home (too many distractions/things to do) or at coffee shops/libraries (bad wifi, too crowded just too much noise) So I was looking for somewhere else to go because my schoolwork was seriously starting to suffer. After perusing Yelp, I found this place and I couldn't believe it! I have been up here every day this week ($10) parking all day on the weekends. But it's worth it to be able to use their FREE fast WIFI for as long as you like. I have been able to find places to study that are both super cozy & comfortable (in front of a warm fire) and places with a great view. It is super quiet in here and it's the perfect environment. I have been getting so much work done it's not even funny. Thank you LMU! read more

Not a LMU student; although I get free parking and entrance to the library that's open 24 hours a day for those nasty serious study sessions! Take advantage if you can. Oh my....THIS PLACE. It's my savior come Sundays. While I am not a LMU student, I basically come here every week once Sunday shows up, and I realize I have gotten absolutely no work done, and have approximately 4 hours to complete all of it. I love the little frosted glass individual study cubicle things, obviously I'm not 100% sure what to refer to them as, but whatever they are they all have their own outlets! It's very exciting. They have a nice little cafe adjoined to the library and you are allowed dry foods and liquids with lids in the library. Also very exciting. Parking is free on weekends and you've just gotta go up to the desk to the metal mesh container to grab a Wi-Fi password slip for visitors. It's a library, and it's open on Sundays! I feel like there's not much more to say. read more

In my humble opinion, this library is one of the best things about Loyola Marymount! The study rooms are amazing! All the walls are white boards so it's perfect for brainstorming or just doodling. Also, the view from some of them are breathtaking! Just make sure you reserve a room ahead of time, especially during finals week! If you are studying solo, the study areas are really nice. My favorite spots are the armchairs that are situated in front of the fireplace (cozy!) and the mini couches on the second floor that have a lovely view of the school. Some tips: -The library is open to everyone. However, after 8pm, you will need a student card to get in! -Don't go into a study room if somebody else has already reserved it! This has happened so many times, and I've felt really bad for kicking the people out even though it clearly said, "Reserved by Tiffany L." -Only dry food and drinks with lids allowed! read more

I used to love coming here until my wallet got stolen, somehow right under my nose, last Sunday. I filed a police report, at the campus. The police office was a nice and polite man, very empathic. Although I understood that I will never will see my wallet again. Apparently library has no camera's installed. At the Public Safety office there is a sign in sheet. There was 15 entries for one day. Wallets, sunglasses, a hat, bags, jackets. Quite honest, I am used to the environment where I don't have look over my shoulder. Never had to at Pepperdine libraries, for example. I am not sure if theft is representative of the LMU culture, or because the library is open to public, but I am no longer feel welcomed or safe read more

I wish I had known about this library much sooner! I'm not an LMU student but recently discovered this wonderful study spot (thanks to Yelp)! Parking is free on weekends for visitors. There's a cafe in the library if you need drinks/food. Dry food & drinks with a lid are allowed in the library (if you want to bring something from home instead). There's pin drop silence in here...a really great place if you want to get some serious studying done. I usually go to Starbucks to study but I think I'll be coming here on the weekends instead! read more

This is a nice library. I went to the library to wait to pick up a cousin at LAX. The views are crazy and the library is more impressive. Go to the front desk and they will give you a guest user name and pw. Probably one of the best libraries I have ever been too. read more

This library is one of the cleanest, prettiest, and quietest ones I've ever studied in. I love how the walls are 98% glass windows so that you can see the beautiful landscape of the city! I've only been here during the day, but I'm sure the scenery is even more beautiful at night, since you'd be able to see all the city lights. The chairs are comfy and ergonomically sound. There are outlets available at every desk. Several Mac computers are available for public use. This library has it all. My ONLY gripe would be that the food at the cafe on the first floor is mediocre. I didn't like that all the salads and sandwiches were pre-made. I bought a tuna salad sandwich for lunch and it had way too much mayo in it. The bread was soggy, too. read more

Decent library and lots of light and space. The decor is simple and desks and study spaces are plentiful. This place gets slammed packed with college kids but if you are a guest from the outside, try this place on a Saturday early evening, less crowded. Nicely equipped with many books and wonderful Mac computers. Sure beats out lame LA County libraries. If you come here as a guest make sure to respect the LMU students here studying and keep the noise to a minimum. read more

I must admit LMU library stands alone for it's beauty and esthetics, but that's just the beginning. Any student who truly values education & the dire need for an outstanding GREAT place to study, must include LMU as their go to place of study. With very few places in and around Los Angeles county that cater to the ongoing needs of us students LMU is the business, with some days being open 24 hours & a Starbucks on the ground floor, you could set up camp & have all classes covered. This is a beautiful library that sits atop a hill in Westchester. The building is round and there are plenty of seats with grey window views. The best thing about this library is that it is open to non LMU students, although you will be kicked out at 10pm if you're not a student. read more

What a find! LMU has a large, quiet and clean library open to the public along with the students. There are plenty of places to study or sit with a book, including the Starbucks downstairs (although I found that to be very crowded unlike the rest of the library). Wifi is free and high speed and the campus landscape provides a pretty view out the windows. The catch is that you have to find it. Enter LMU by car and pay a fee. You can circle the whole drive and just before you loop back to where you started, the library is on the right. Or, park on the street before entering the campus and hoof it. It's not that far, you can park on the street for free and enjoy the beautiful jacaranda trees on route during the spring. Once you hit the circle drive, walk left to find the library. read more

This library is amazing! Once I graduated from college and then grad school, I thought my days of university quality libraries were over. Public libraries are great for the occasional day off, but there are very few places in Los Angeles where one can do some serious long-term studying/work in a clean and comfortable environment. Other universities either had horrendous parking or I was made to feel like an intrusive criminal using facilities where I was uninvited. This library not only welcomes the public (see their website) but they actually make it so easy for the public to use it. Free parking and free wireless internet in a new, beautiful building. The hours are also great with most weekdays open until midnight. My only negative experience was with one staff member. He was rude not only to me but to the poor student worker working behind at the desk. It is simply not professional to chew a student worker out in front of a line of patrons (for a matter so incredibly petty by the way) and then proceed to be snarky to one of the patrons with a genuine inquiry (I was looking to check out an ethernet chord). Maybe he was having a really bad day, but he struck a bad chord with me, especially since up until then, this library was perfection. However, I won't let the one negative experience impact my overall love of this library. This is one of the greats in LA. read more

I live close by and needed a place to study. LMU library is very nice!!! Only downside....parking is $10 if you stay more than two hours.

Best library I've been to and I come here all the time. Very quiet and the view from the 3rd floor is amazing. The only issue is that parking fills up pretty fast so get a good playlist going bc you might be circling round for parking for a while. But non the less it's very worth it. read more

cleanliness=A hours=A- technology/computing=A space/availability=A a real nice library. first floor has about a hundred macs that run on both windows and macos. easy to use/access printing station. study rooms with TVs and laptop hook ups. a nice cafe with a good selection of food and drinks. if youre lucky you might get a seat next to the windows that have a crazy view of the bluff. ive been to alot of college libraries and havent seen anything like this. read more

10/10 best library ever! Always clean, always quiet, always a place to study, and always beautiful. It's like a studying temple! Ocean sunsets from the third floor bluff side are incredible. Also, It's always VERY air conditioned all year round. Perfect place to beat the 110F heat and get work done, bring a sweater/blanket! I read about this place on Yelp, and I was not disappointed. This library is clean, nice and extremely quiet. Just the type of environment that I study the best in. I never quite understood how people can effectively study in bookstores and coffee shops. There is usually to much noise and distractions for me. They have many stations in which you can study at, and plenty of rooms for group studying. As for parking, since I'm not a student I parked on 80th street where it's free and then just walked on to campus. Before finding this library I was constantly driving long distances to nicer libraries with free parking. I would drive to the Cerritos Library or even the Palos Verdes Library, and I live in West LA. Wayyyyy to long of a drive just to study on a regular basis. The William. H. Hannon library is a Godsend for me. If you live on this side of town (or easily within 20 minutes), you should def check it out at least once before looking somewhere else to go. read more
