I am so happy that I decided to be treated by Dr. Parker. On October 29, 2013 he performed my abdominal myomectomy at UCLA Medical Center. Now three weeks later I happily share my thoughts on and experience with this wonderful doctor from the comfort of my home. I first read about Dr. Parker on a number of online forums where persons were discussing fibroids and treatments. This was about four years ago. With internet no question ever has to go unanswered nowadays, so I soon stumbled on Dr. Parker's website "www.fibroidsecondopinion.com". I learned so much there - much more than from my doctors at home who had not been able to give me much information on my condition. Even though I was not yet mentally ready for surgery back in 2009, I realize I was well on my way to knowing that Dr. Parker was the one doctor I would trust to rid me of the fibroids. Fast forward four years to early 2013... I was increasingly experiencing symptoms of the fibroids: sprinting to the nearest bathroom to empty my bladder for the umpteenth time for the day, suffering from bladder infections, constipation, cramps, backache, bloating and more recently nausea, throwing up and trips to the local ER in excruciating pain. I had met with two gynecologists before meeting with Dr. Parker. I feel so blessed that I met with Dr. Parker because he removed my fibroid, the size of a child's bowling ball, without having to remove my uterus, and he was able to use a horizontal incision rather than a vertical one. The other gynecologists felt that they would have to make a vertical c-section incision due to the size of my fibroid and would also have to remove my uterus. Also, one gynecologist wanted to administer Lupron before my surgery so that the fibroid would shrink. Unfortunately, Lupron has many side effects. Dr. Parker is a medical genius. He was able to save my ovaries and my uterus without having to shrink my fibroid before surgery. I was referred to Dr. Parker by UCLA (since I live in San Diego) so was very excited to potentially find a great doctor in San Diego to help me with my fibroid and keep all my organs. So about a YEAR ago I contacted his office and filled out intake forms. Then I got a curt response from him via a nurse that clearly indicated he did NOT read my intake form. He told me to go see an OBGYN and have them help me deal with my symptoms. Clearly he did not read on my form where I noted that I had seen multiple OBGYNs who could not help my symptoms and all told me surgery was the best option. I wanted to consult with Dr. Parker because he was an expert (I was told) in non-invasive surgery and cared about saving women's organs even if they couldn't have children. So I called his office back and a seemingly nice nurse (no longer works there) told me to have my MRI sent over and that she would pass my info along again. So we played phone tag for a while where the lab claimed they sent my MRI but she said they didn't get it. Then I found out a few months ago when I had still gotten no reply that she was gone and was told again they would get back to me and still nada. No call from their office, nothing. So now I'm left with the only options of trying to see a doctor in UCLA who is available but will be very difficult for me to manage driving back and forth (with my job) and also feeling like garbage. That, or do open surgery which besides being riskier is not doable with my current job. I'm alone, no support, family etc. and cannot be out of work for 6 to 8 weeks. So I'm not sure if Dr. Parker really is a great doctor from my experience, or maybe he was but now that he's partly retired my case doesn't appeal to him because I'm too old or whatever. But if that's the state of things the office should have said right away oh he's not taking any patients over the age of X or something. Menopause came and went - but my five fibroids didn't shrink - so, after 20+ years, I had to address my fibroids directly. After been told by several physicians that they were too large and would require a hysterectomy - and probably not a vaginal one - I was referred to Dr. Parker to assess the possibility of pursuing a less invasive approach. I found Dr. Parker after I had been suffering from a large fibroid for nearly 10 years. Dr. Parker is a caring and attentive Doctor; he took the time to answer all my questions, explained all my options, and showed me pictures and videos to illustrate them. His office is staffed with caring and sweet professionals who make you feel welcome and well cared for. Dr. Parker performed a laparoscopic myomectomy without complication and with minimal bleeding. No blood transfusion was needed, despite my having been anemic. If I could give Dr. Parker 10 stars I would but this only accepts 5. Dr. Parker is an extremely gifted surgeon and doctor. Generous, attentive and truly caring. I came to him with a really big fibroid. I am 37 years old and my fibroid was 17x10x11 cm. I wanted to do have a laparoscopic myomectomy because I didn't wanted to go thru the abdominal surgery. Dr. Parker told me that it was possible to do it laparoscopically in spite of the size given the location of the fibroid. He assesses every patient individually and determines what is best for the patients. He listened to all my concerns and was very patient answering all my questions. His care team was also extremely generous. I had my surgery with him, it lasted 3 hours. No complications at all, average blood loss, no post surgery bleeding, no infections. The following day after my surgery the doctor called me personally to see how I was doing. He is so attentive and caring. After the surgery, the worst days were the day 2-3. After that it was just fatigue. The recovery has been quick. This doctor was able to remove this massive fibroid laparoscopically. Other doctors around would not dare do this. They will cut you open. But Dr. Parker has so so much experience on his side and he is so gifted and knowledgeable that he is able to performs his magic. 2 weeks after the surgery I had the post-op and everything was good! I had consulted with two doctors prior to locating Dr. Parker, regarding my very large 17cm (nearly 7") tumor. "It's huge" one of the doctors had said. Both doctors recommended a hysterectomy. Although at 45 years old I have no intention of having another child, I very much want to keep all my parts intact. After intense Internet research, I located Dr. Parker His credentials were key to my decision to set up a consultation. I was specifically looking for someone who teaches others to do what I needed to have done, someone who has written extensively about the topic, and has performed this surgery innumerable times. It was imperative to me to find someone for whom this surgery was very ordinary. Dr. Parker fits this bill and more. Neither of the two doctors that I had consulted prior to Dr. Parker instilled confidence. The first was clearly intimidated by the prospect of trying to repair the uterus after removal of such a large fibroid. The second doctor indicated that it might not be fibroid and could be cancer. Dr. Parker is the answer to my prayers. I had a 10 cm. fibroid that other well recognized Doctors in Orange County wanted to do a hysterectomy. I researched him on the Internet, went for a second opinion and he indicated that it would be more of a risk to do a hysterectomy and instead performed a laporoscoptic myemectomy. As a 34-year-old woman, hearing your doctor diagnose uterine fibroids and then inform you that your sole option is a hysterectomy, especially when you haven't yet had children, can leave you feeling rather hopeless. I had what turned out to be a total of five fibroids (four larger ones and one very small one) and thanks to the skill of Dr Parker, they were not only removed successfully without hysterectomy, but he performed the surgery laparoscopically, even after I had been told by my regular doctor that both myomectomy and laparoscopic surgery were an impossibility. I carried around fibroids for 10 years that were taking over my body and now I realize my life. I thought I could live with them and shrink them naturally. It wasn't until my sister ended up having an emergency hysterectomy due to large ovarian cysts, fibroids and endometriosis that I decided it was time for me to get this taken care of. I had already been following Dr. Parker for 2 years but too afraid to commit to having surgery. My sister's health scare gave me the motivation I needed to really put things in perspective. I started preparing; I reached out to someone on one of these boards that lived out of state and had the same surgery. We both live Michigan and she was wonderful and assisted me in getting things arranged. Seeing Dr. Parker was the best thing I could have done! He gave me a viable option to surgically removing my fibroids (Laparoscopically) while leaving my uterus. All of the other OBGYN's recommended a total or partial hysterectomy (abdominally). I immediately had confidence in Dr. Parker's wisdom and ability to perform this procedure having done some preliminary research and getting a referral from another Dr. who recommended him. I met with Dr. Parker because I had a fibroid the size of a softball sitting on my bladder. My Gynecologist told me the ONLY surgeon she could recommend who could do this laparoscopically was Dr. William Parker. I met with him in the spring and his knowledge and manner won me over. Dr. Parker is one of the best doctors I have ever had. I have had a uterine fibroid for about 10 years and continuously complained of painful bloating to my gynecologist. She said it can only be removed open cut or hysterectomy, but to wait till menopause and it would most likely go away or decrease in size. I just turned 48 and that could be another 5 to 10 years. We kept an eye on it as it grew larger every year. I had my appendix out a few months ago and my surgeon said when I was in the operating room they thought I was pregnant. I absolutely, without hesitation, recommend Dr. Parker. His credentials, expertise, and demeanor are of the highest standards and you will be in great hands! Several years ago, I was diagnosed with a uterine fibroid during a routine pelvic exam. I had no symptoms but, over time, I noticed that my abdomen had enlarged and I was becoming more uncomfortable. The fibroid, located toward the front of my uterus, was now positioned on top of my bladder. An MRI showed the fibroid to be about 10 cm in diameter and, according to one doctor, the size of a 4 month pregnancy. At the age of 56, I decided that it was time to take action. My gynecologist suggested three alternatives: - hysterectomy - uterine fibroid embolization (shrinking of the fibroid by blocking its blood supply) - myomectomy (removal of the fibroid) My research took me to Dr. Parker's website where I found, to my relief, all the information I was looking for in one location. I believe that Dr. Parker was God sent. I had looked around to find the right doctor to operate on me and had really not felt comfortable with the gynecologists that I had met. I stumbled on Dr. Parker's yelp reviews as I was looking for doctors in my area. Everyone had said amazing things about him and I thought to myself that all those people can't be wrong. And if they were, I would find out when I meet him. Being in the field of patient care myself, I believe I have somewhat a good sense of a good doctor when I meet with them. When I met with Dr. Parker, his bedside manner, empathy, knowledge and ability to explain everything in detail proved to me that what I had read was true and I knew to look no further. My abdominal myomectomy went very well. Dr. Parker explained everything to me during my consult and pre-op visits, and I felt confident and prepared going into surgery. He checked in before surgery, met with my family and answered all our questions. This was important to me as it's natural to get nervous just before the procedure. Anyone contemplating surgery, or in need of answers regarding uterine fibroids owes it to themselves to make an appointment to see Dr. Parker. I am so thankful that after being frustrated with a physician in Texas (it was recommend that I either have a hysterectomy or surgery with an abdominal incision to extend above my navel) I stumbled upon a website in which women were giving brutally honest opinions on doctors they hated and doctors they loved. Dr. Parker's name was mentioned and I found his website. The wealth of information provided was exciting to read. I learned more than I expected from his site. There is even video of him performing a surgery! I must admit, I almost let the fact that he does not take insurance prevent me from making an appointment. After my hour long initial appointment, I knew that Dr. Parker was going to be my surgeon. I never felt rushed, he answered every question, pulled up diagrams, gave me several options, some nonsurgical, even asked me about myself-apart from being a woman with fibroids. After leaving California, I called his office many, many times-I felt like I was an irritation to his staff! But never did any staff member ever act annoyed, they are very kind and did everything in their power to answer my questions and follow up with me in a timely manner. When we first found out that most methods weren't effective for my uterine fibroids (medication, etc), my husband and I researched pretty heavily on finding an expert who can help us with my condition. After searching on many reputable medical sites we keep seeing great reviews over and over for Dr. Parker. I contacted the Dr.'s office to get a second opinion after my own gyno told me the only option available to me was to do a hysterectomy otherwise my 12 cm uterine fibroid would continue to grow and cause problems. Dr. Parker's office told me that I had to get an MRI, and send my ultra sound for the Dr. to review and he would decide on whether he would take on my case. I had the MRI (that's a whole other review) and sent everything off through the mail. I was then contacted by someone from his office and informed the Dr. would take my case. My first appointment was made and I finally got to meet the Dr. He was wonderful from the get-go: friendly, open and down to earth. He listened to my symptoms and everything I had gone through. He showed me a colored diagram of a uterus with the different fibroids and proceeded to explain what was happening to my body, annotating the diagram as he spoke. He then started listed the options available to me (actually writing down everything so I could keep track)... He listed 5 different options despite the fibroid being almost double in size since my gyno discovered it!!! He explained the pros and cons of each option. He listened to what I wanted: a permanent solution that didn't involve taking more chemicals to control my body. He went through each permanent solution again; all involved surgery, and explained the different surgeries available to me. I chose to have a laparoscopic myomectomy. Throughout the whole session, Dr. Parker was friendly and behaved like he nothing else in the world to do but to listen to my concerns. It was a dialog in which I was treated with respect and given an opportunity to play the main role in deciding what was going to happen to me. I was even given a research paper (printed fresh just for me) in response to one of my questions. I have never had such an experience with any health care provider. I left that session and was literally singing because I was so happy to have found Dr. Parker! The rest is of my experience was equally happy. I needed to go in for a pre-op check-up and an endometrial biopsy procedure to make sure my fibroid was not cancerous. The Dr. suggested my own gyno do the endometriosis because she was nearer to where I live to save me a trip to the clinic (my gyno refused!), that's how caring he is. On the day of operation I came prepared because the Dr. had given me an information packet which detailed what to do before the operation and what to expect after. He offered me the option to stay at the hospital overnight after the operation, but recommended I check into a hotel nearby to save me the cost since I shouldn't need any medical attention after - again that's how thoughtful he is. Everyone on his team came in and spoke to me before the op, making sure I knew what was going to happen and their role on the team. I appreciated the efforts made to make me feel somewhat in control and aware of what was happening. I woke up from the op and I was amazed at how well I felt. At the end of the 2 hour post-op recovery period I was able to get up and dress myself. I was wheeled to the car and helped in by my husband, but was able to get out and go to our hotel room without any assistance, albeit very very slowly. I was also able to go to the toilet by myself that first day and every day after that. I followed every instruction that the dr. gave to the letter: no lift heavy, iron + vitamin C, sleep, eat light, etc. as a result, I am almost at 100% after only two weeks surgery. I actually wanted to go back to work, but my company wouldn't let me. I only needed to take the prescribed pain killer for 2 days, and ibuprofen for another 2 days after operation. I was fine after that with only some slight discomfort. I had my 2 week post-op check-up and the Dr. informed me everything couldn't be better. He showed me colored photographs taken while he was carrying out the procedure and again explained while annotating everything I saw. I had great experience with Dr Parker. He cares and really knows his stuff. From talking to him he continually studies up on fibroids and is very involved in cutting edge advances in this field. I like a doctor who is interested in what he does and not just doing the same old stuff on autopilot. His website is also a wealth of information. I had Laparoscopic surgery on a 10cm fibroid, and a couple smaller ones. Recovery was super fast and I wasn't that uncomfortable during the 2 week recovery phase. I took very little pain pills, a few days only. I now have no attention on my body and rarely need an afternoon nap anymore. My case was not severe but I just didn't feel great in general physically. Now I just feel myself and get a lot of work done each day. Sex is better and periods are lighter ;) The scars are really small and fading. read more

This is the type of doctor that makes the medical industry look bad. I wanted to see him years back, as he is supposedly the foremost expert on laparoscopic procedures in my city, but at the time, he did not accept insurance, so it was not an option for me. Recently, Dr. Parker joined UCLA, so I contacted his office to get an appointment. I needed a third opinion on a very serious surgery I was contemplating. I had already seen two other doctors at UCLA who were in the same medical group, but I wanted to see if Dr. Parker shared their opinions. His assistant explained to me that he requires patients to fill out a "consultation request form" in order for him to decide if he will take you on as a patient. I thought I misheard her at first, as this is not a private practice, but a public hospital that takes my insurance, and generally those doctors do not get to decide who they will and will not consult with. She also said Dr. Parker insists on having MRI scans on disk, even though he can click a button on his computer and have ready access to all medical records and scans of UCLA patients. I didn't bother with the rigamarole involved in getting him records he already had at his convenience, but I did write him a two page letter explaining my condition, and why I needed to see him. One of the doctors I had already seen also saw Dr. Parker and spoke to him on my behalf. A few days later I received a phone call from his assistant, informing me that he would NOT see me for a consultation, and that my current doctor's opinion should be sufficient. It was clear from what the assistant said to me that she did not understand any of the medical issues involved, she kept repeating the same phrases over and over again (as if she were a Time Warner Cable employee reading from a script), and even when I explained she had the facts wrong and asked if I could speak to Dr. Parker on the phone, she flatly refused. I came to find out that Dr. Parker's practice was bought out by UCLA, and it is clear that he is not happy about that, and that he still feels able to make cranky demands of his patients and to play God in deciding who gets his treatment and who doesn't. I am so happy that my obgyn referred me to Dr. William Parker to remove my fibroids laproscopically. I had consults with two other obgyns, my own mentioned that there was a chance she would have to make a vertical cut from my belly button down rather than a bikini line cut because of the size of the fibroids. And another well respected and experienced obgyn advised me that she would not feel comfortable removing my fibroid laproscopically because of my small frame and the big size of the tumor, so she would have to make a bikini line cut. When I had my consult with Dr. Parker he was very patient in answering all my questions and thorough in showing me my MRI and my options for shrinking the fibroid and surgery. It was his birthday and he even offered me chocolates! He does not push for any organ to be removed if it's perfectly healthy and leaves it for you to decide. The surgery ended up taking five hours rather than the estimated two and a half. The fibroid had grown even bigger since the consult but he was able to remove everything from just four tiny cuts in my abdomen. My fibroid was two pounds and sat on my bladder which made my stomach bulge, sent me running to the restroom all the time, and gave me back pains. Boy was I glad to have that thing removed. I had never had surgery before and recovering from surgery was a lot harder than I had expected. It wasn't even the pain from the incisions (I hardly felt that), what bothered me most was the bloating and gas. Throughout that time I was in touch with the doctor and he made some recommendations for over the counter remedies and even offered to see me sooner if it was really bothering me. But sure enough at the two-week mark I was back to "normal". Jogging is my main form of exercise, it's been six weeks now and I can almost run as fast and as much as I used to. Now my stomach looks flatter than it has in years (I can wear my skinny dresses again) and I do not need to be worried about how much liquid I consume before going on long car rides. Just some tips. Parking is expensive in the building but I have had very good luck parking by the meters on the street (mostly on Broadway), just read the no parking signs carefully, and be sure to sharpen your parallel parking skills. Also he is very popular, it took me a month to get a consult and three months to book the surgery. I'm am a ICU nurse and when I was told I had large fibroids that required surgery I immediately started researching the topic. The first two doctors I saw both recommend a hysterectomy and both told me I would need a cesarean type incision in order to remove all the fibroids due to their size and location. I then asked the top doctors in my hospital for recommendations and every one of them had Dr Parker at the top of the list. I am a registered nurse and have worked with many doctors and surgeons during my career (10 yr+). Without doubt, Dr. Parker is absolutely the best physician I have ever come across and I highly recommend him to anyone suffering with fibroids. I am 34 years old and was previously diagnosed with an intramural fibroid which had grown to 12cm x 15cm size and was causing fertility problems. The size and location of the fibroid had also caused me daily pain and bulk related symptoms. Seeing that I have not yet had children, I was strongly interested in preserving my fertility and maintaining my uterus intact. In my search for minimally invasive and/or fertility preserving options, I was elated to find Dr. Parker. From my first consultation to post surgery care, Dr. Parker made me feel heard and cared for. About 3 years ago I was diagnosed with fibroids during my regular yearly exam. My belly was very large but I had no other symptoms and having just gone through some very stressful life changes I assumed I had put on a lot of weight. My doctor at the time said the only option was hysterectomy and I got hysterical to be honest. I was 36 years old with no children and while my doctor said this was the only solution, I did not agree. Something in my gut told me this was not right. I went to another doctor and got a second opinion. She too said I should have surgery at some point but that it was possible my surgery would potentially turn into a hysterectomy. She was not confident that she could perform a myomectomy and wanted me to know what the potential outcomes were. This still did not sit right with me so for the next year I sought out natural ways to deal with the bulkiness of my fibroids. I tried Chinese medicine and acupuncture, changed my diet to a fully vegan non-soy diet and while these things certainly helped me get healthy, they only seemed to have a minimal effect on my fibroids. During my next yearly check up my doctor said that the fibroids appeared to have shrunk but that hysterectomy would be my only option and she did not want to perform surgery on me. I left her office devastated. As soon as I got home I jumped online and searched 'worlds top fibroid specialist' because at this point I felt as though I needed to find the best, and let me tell you- I did! When I woke up, out of all the worst-case scenarios that could have been, I was blessed and relieved to find that although what I had was rare and large, I was OK! He has offered women a tremendous resource on his website, and I'm grateful for what he is doing to help women with fibroids by offering options based on years of his dedicated study and tremendous skill. He truly is an amazing doctor and person. I had a 13 cm subserosal fibroid on the left side of my uterus. I found Dr. Parker as I was doing an internet search on fibroid treatment/options. I found his website and was immediately impressed with the amount of information on his website. I contacted his front office (everyone in his office is fantastic) and asked what I needed to do to get a consultation and potentially become a new patient. His assistants provided a form for me to fill out. It was also requested that I get an MRI, which is far more precise than an ultrasound, prior to the consultation. I was amazed how much time Dr. Parker spent with me at my first consultation. He pulled up my MRI results and explained in great detail my situation. He then spent quite a bit of time discussing fibroids and related research. I brought in a list of questions and Dr. Parker patiently and thoroughly answered every question I had. He then discussed my options. I was expecting to hear that I would need an abdominal myomectomy, since the fibroid was large and since I'm trying to preserve my fertility. Dr. Parker told me I had several options: I could leave it (and still get pregnant and carry to term), I could have it removed laproscopically or I could have it removed abdominally. I was not expecting to hear that I could leave it (and was hoping he would say laproscopy was an option)! He then discussed considerations related to each option. I left the consultation feeling very relieved. I really appreciated that Dr. Parker was calm, confident and reassuring. I knew I had made the right choice coming to him. I decided to have the fibroid removed laproscopically and made an appointment (note: his calendar for surgery fills up quickly). At the pre-surgery consultation, Dr. Parker talked me through the procedure, recovery and then answered the multitude of questions I brought with me. Again, he was very patient and thorough with me. I was extremely impressed by this as I know he has many patients and is very busy. I had never had surgery before, so I was nervous. I told Dr. Parker this and he continued to reassure me. I remember back to the morning of surgery-- I saw him in the preparation room and said "Dr. Parker, I'm nervous." With a calm, warm smile he said "I'm not." I knew I was absolutely in good hands. My surgery ended up being a little more complicated and lengthy than expected. Instead of one large fibroid, it was about eight fibroids all 'bundled' up together to look like one large fibroid (on the MRI and ultrasounds). Dr. Parker said that instead of "pealing" out one large fibroid, each one had to be individually "pealed" out. The surgery was an hour longer than planned because of this. I had very little blood loss though. When I heard that it was a challenging surgery, I was even more grateful that I found such a skilled surgeon as Dr. Parker! My mom came along with me (since my boyfriend is deployed to Afghanistan), and Dr. Parker called my mom twice after the surgery to let her know he was done and how things went. I was up and walking around and going to the bathroom within an hour or so of surgery. I stayed in the recovery room a couple more hours and then left that afternoon. I live near Santa Barbara, so we stayed in a Santa Monica hotel a couple nights before driving home. Dr. Parker called me the morning after surgery to see how I was doing and then told me about the surgery. My recovery went very well. I was quite sore, but nothing terribly painful. I was more so exhausted from the general anesthesia. I was off any sort of painkiller four days after the surgery and was feeling almost 100% about 12 days after surgery. At the two-week post-op appointment I felt great and Dr. Parker said everything was healing very well. I'm four weeks post-surgery and the three (small) scars are healing very nicely. I've started running again and I feel great! No more shooting pains down my left leg, no more pelvic pressure, no more getting up several times during the night to use the bathroom, no more constant feeling of having to urinate when I go running. Two years ago, after suffering debilitating pain and heavy bleeding, I found out I had a fibroid in the middle of my uterus. I saw a surgeon that performed a myomectomy to remove the fibroid, but he was unable to remove the whole thing. As a result the fibroid and symptoms came back just months later. I scheduled another myomectomy with the same surgeon and again, he was unable to remove the whole thing. About a year later (and months of pain), I found Dr. Parker and was thrilled to meet with such an expert. He was kind and explained everything to me with great detail. He explained that he could remove the fibroid with a hysteroscopic myomectomy, so no incision would be made and my uterus would be keep intact. We scheduled the surgery the next day and Dr. Parker made sure I was seen as soon as possible so I wouldn't have to endure another cycle. The office staff was very helpful and made everything easy. On the day of the surgery, Dr. Parker took wonderful care of me and I had a great experience with the rest of the doctors and staff at the hospital as well. I went home the same day and had an easy recovery. He called to check on me the next day and said that everything had gone great. He was able to remove the whole fibroid, including two others that had since grown in and they would not be growing back. The aftercare and follow up appointments were great. After years of being unable to fully function in life from pain and hemorrhaging, I am so happy to report that I am completely pain free and the heavy bleeding has ceased. My fibroids were discovered during a routine annual physical. The first (quite confident) recommendation from my doctor & the surgeon she referred me to: hysterectomy. This didn't sit right with me even at age 42 and well beyond plans for additional children. It took me 5 years from the time of my 1st consultation to have Dr. Parker perform my open myomectomy. I consulted with him relatively early in my journey and found he had a kind and patient demeanor, as well as proven track record with fibroid treatment. But I wasn't ready for surgery... He is a doctor that really does care about women and the issue of fibroids. I can't imagine that there is a finer doctor in his field of expertise. I was diagnosed with a fibroid approximately 7 years ago. For those 7 years, I had decided to try to manage the fibroid with acupuncture, diet, and herbs until I reached menopause, hoping then that it would shrink on its own. For most of those 7 years I felt I was successful, and although it had grown to the size of a grapefruit, it did not cause me problems that were not manageable, until about 6 months ago, so I decided to explore my options. I found Dr. Parker online and made an appointment. Upon meeting him, I was extremely impressed with not only his experience and knowledge, but the amount of time he spent with my husband and I, explaining everything we needed to know about the possible surgeries I could have and also the choice to not have surgery. I originally saw three OB doctors before I found Dr. Parker. One of the doctor recommended embolization, but I do not feel comfortable doing so. The other two OB doctors recommended hysterectomy (remove my uterus) so the fibroid will not grow back. One of the OB doctor even want to remove my fallopian tube. Most doctors recommend hysterectomy if you no longer wish to have babies because it is easier than myomectomy. Laparascopy myomectomy takes more skills, experience and patience to perform. After several months of thorough research, I finally found Dr. Parker on the website. He provided a lot of information and resources about fibroid treatment options. When Dr Parker ordered the MRI, it came out 3 fibroids; 4cm, 6cm and 8cm. I was shocked. Yet, I feel very comfortable after talking to him regarding my situation including many of my concerns, including my body size.(I am a small Asian woman who is less than 5 ft. Dr. Parker was able to perform laparascopy without hesitation) He was able to answer all my questions and feel confident that he can help me with my problems. Asha - San Antonio, Texas Dr. Parker was my sixth opinion. After suffering for three years with painful cramps, menstrual blood clots and prolonged bleeding I was exhausted. My hemoglobin dropped to 3.9. By then I had visited five doctors to see if there was any way they could remove the fibroid that was responsible for the bleeding. Every doctor I visited would not even look at ultrasound images. They would just hand me an information brochure about Da Vinci robotic Hysterectomy. They suggested hysterectomy is the best treatment as it is easier to take out the uterus than to remove a single fibroid . Nice explanation from a doctor. Many doctors are looking for guinea pigs and some patients like me don't want to end up as guinea pigs in the hands of unskilled surgeons. So my option was to look for a doctor who could study the images and then help me make a decision. I even consulted an UFE (Interventional Radiologist ) specialist prior to seeing Dr. Parker. I was not convinced when he said the UFE procedure could cause flu like symptoms , pain , cramping and it takes a long time for the body to expel the fibroid. I felt there got to be a way out and my quick internet search helped me find Dr Parker. I had a 6cm fibroid in the endometrial cavity (submucosal). When I first called Dr. Parker's assistant to schedule for a consultation she refused to give me an appointment. She mentioned that Dr Parker needs a pelvic MRI and screens his patients. I must thank his assistant for making me to go and get an MRI. The MRI did not indicate any cysts, lesions or hematome as the prior ultrasound report stated. I give credit to her . Then I just mailed the MRI disk and ten days later I got an email with the time for consultation. Dr Parker emailed me the images of the fibroid in the endometrial cavity and answered my questions. I can't recommend Dr. Parker enough. He performed a laparoscopic myomectomy back in april to remove a grapefruit-sized fibroid that was directly on my bladder. It was my first surgery ever and I was so comfortable with the procedure as Dr. Parker told me about how everything would go from start to finish. Dr. Parker is nothing short of brilliant and a true credit to his profession. During our consultation it was very clear that he was not only extremely knowledgeable but he was kind, considerate and happy to answer all my questions (which was appreciated)! I also found his website and educational videos most helpful. As a nutritionist who took the time to do much research hysterectomy was my last resort and the only option offered to me by numerous doctors both in the U.S. as well as Canada. One of my Fibroids was 15 cm x 12cm which was causing unpleasant symptoms to say the least.
