GOOD: This is a nice park with plenty of amenities. Unlike many Oregon State Parks, the sites are well separated and offer some sense of privacy. There's a small sand beach on the lake, a playground, lots of open spaces and some trails. The lake has a 10mph speed limit so you don't have to suffer from the wakeboard/ski crowd and their blaring stereos competing for whose music is least bad. ATVs aren't allowed to operate there either so it stays mostly quiet. BAD: To no fault of the park, it is at the base of a grade on Hwy 101 and so the noise of trucks (and the cosplaying 'look at me' guys on Harley's) climbing and Jake braking while descending the hill really makes relaxing outside when it's otherwise quiet difficult to impossible. You can hear the louder ATV's on the dunes to the west too. The weekdays are especially bad for trucks. As you've probably gathered, I like my outdoors quiet, so if you're a party camper who makes noise, this noise probably just fine and this would be a 5 star park. Nice clean place. Lots of amenities including showers, stalls, and firewood for sale. Great hiking trails, nearby lake, biking, fishing, playground, volleyball court, and dog friendly yurt rentals. Most areas are shaded by old tall trees. Typical site like the others along the coast but not a ton of partying or kids here this weekend. Quiet but spaces are too close to other sites for my taste. Roadway can be a bit tight for RV maneuverability depending on the size of your rig. read more

This was my 1st overnight outing since COVID. If you're not a huge fan of camping, renting a yurt is the way to go! It has a lot of amenities while still being immersed in the out-of-doors. The yurts are solid structures with a lockable door, lights, heater, air purifier, electrical outlets, small table, and bunk beds. Each yurt has its own "site" with fire pit (with grate), large picnic table, outdoor faucet, and room to park 2 vehicles (2nd vehicle is $7/night). There are centrally located restrooms. They also sell firewood for $5/bundle at the camp. There are volunteer camp attendants on-site, so you never feel alone. It's like a little village out in the woods. Eel Lake has a trail around part of it and docks for boats and fishing, as well as a small swimming area. When we were there, it was pretty windy in the afternoon with choppy waves, so lake activities are best done in the morning. For a non-camper, it's a great balance between amenities/civilization and wilderness! read more

This was a good place to camp with our RV. The place was clean and the power and water worked great. The garbage situation is odd - no garbage cans around the camp. You have to drop off up front. Eel lake is amazing and I suggest you do the 3.5 mile hike. The showers were clean and well kept. I'd come here again. read more

Stayed 4 night took 1 shower.. was full of old wet clothes, cigarette butts and styrafoam cups, even after cleaning! Last night there was a dog that howled from 4am till daylight!! I learned there is a homeless camp in the bicycle/tent camping área, explains the disgusting facilities somewhat. I reserve several times a year but no longer feel safe alone with my dog read more

We rented a yurt. It was nice and clean and decent size. We have a dog and it allowed dogs in the yurt we rented. The downside was that all the spaces were really close to your neighbors so you could hear them inside their yurts. Also it was super cold and raining/mixed with snow and the heater in the yurt really did not work that well. It did not warm up the hurt at all and you pretty much had to. Wonderful! We rented a yurt. It was clean with plenty of space for the two of us. It probably would sleep 4 adults comfortably and even 2 adults with 3 or 4 children. It came with electricity, lighting, a space heater, a table with 2 chairs, a futon, and a bunk bed that's queen size below and full size above. But, bring your own sheets, pillows, and blankets. Eel Lake in the park would be a great lake to kayak if it weren't for the afternoon winds. And there's a hard to find rare and shy pair of pileated woodpeckers living in the park if birding is your thing. The only disappointment was the close proximity to the highway, thus lots of noise. For the women, there's flush toilets and hot showers. And the park rangers were friendly, especially Michelle. We'll be back for mo' for sure! read more

Absolutely beautiful park right next to Eel lake. Cutthroat and rainbow trout fishing, 3 mile trail around part of the lake (6 miles total out and back). Fantastic shower and restroom facilities. Boat launch in the day use area. Some sites are a little smaller, so you may have to search if you have a larger RV. I am a mom and an extremely light sleeper, however I was able to sleep in until 8AM... unheard of in a campground for myself. The park hosts, volunteers and park rangers were all so kind, friendly and helpful. Tugman is just a great location. We camped here with our lab, son and pop tent trailer. The yurts here looked super clean and fun as well! We will be back. I love you Oregon State Parks! read more

The yurt was very convenient during our nearly 2 week road trip through Oregon. Our neighbors were friendly and quiet. Met a few folks traveling through and enjoyed swapping our travel stories. There is a good amount of vegetation between sites that lends to some privacy. The bathrooms were clean with free hot showers. Firewood and starters available through the friendly campground host. Beautiful lake walking distance from the small campground. Very peaceful! read more

My Darling Husband and myself were invited to a wedding reception of a former guardian of mine's son and his new wife. This was in 2009 or so. We shared a car ride from our House with my younger brother, his second wife, and their son who was still a baby. The ride down to this park was windy as I remember. We arrived early and talked about some of the features of William Tugman State Park. There are lots of trees in the section of this State Park when we were there. We had some shade from the Gazebo. I remembered to ask the groom's mother plenty of questions so as to be able to locate where the reception was going to be held. It was in the afternoon in the summertime as I remember. There was plenty of food, mostly it was Hamburgers, and there was also homemade ice cream. I was surprised to find out that a younger friend of mine, who I used to babysit, was also invited. He and his mother were in attendance. I remembered a couple of the other guests from when I was a teenager, but I did not talk to them on this afternoon. The groom's mother was glad to see all of us that drove down in the car we all shared on that afternoon. There is a lake which back then I heard was good for fishing. There were plenty of Garbage Cans around. And the restrooms were close by. read more

The campsite are small, but clean. Very pretty and lots to see in the area. Great for rvs, but most sites will barely fit two tents.

Won't be back ever. The best part of William Tugman was leaving William Tugman. We stayed here over the Labor Day week time period and I've been meaning to write a review. Cramped close sites. Lots of bathrooms for each cramped loop- I guess this is good, but then with lots of bathrooms meant you could hear every flush and people chattering taking showers, etc. This was yurt city, but more like yurt projects judging from all of the stupid playpens, kids toys, and random crap laying everywhere. Too many damn yurts spaced a few feet apart. We saw one lady with a minivan full of dog cages and tons of little dogs yapping away in her yurt - yuck. We had a yurt, it was clean and comfortable like they usually are, but we heard every single outside thing. Flush. "Bob, pass the mayo". "Mommmmmmmm, Christy pulled my hair....." It was annoying. I would have rather heard the drone of traffic. Maybe there is good fishing in that lake? I'm not sure what the draw is. We didn't think it was great. For us we were happy to have the giant thunder and lightening downpour that forced everybody to retreat inside for a few hours of peace and quiet. There is only one giant trash thingy for the entire camp and it smells like dead bodies, cat pooh, and sour milk. Disgusting - hold your breath, throw trash in and RUN! Then run to your car and drive far, far, away and camp somewhere else like Umpqua or Honeyman. read more

Real have enjoyed the Oregon Coast state parks on our trip. Tugman is clean , nice, large spots for our 36' -38" rigs. Great hiking trails fish, bring your own kayaks because there is no place to rent them. Will be back.. read more

This park has the smallest spaces!!! You can practically clink coffee cups in the morn with your neighbors! I have more privacy in the burbs which was probably why it was kind of depressing to find "this was it" after reserving online! My long relaxing week end wasn't going to happen!! Tons of screaming kids, crying babies, barking dogs, atv's running the dunes at night and the spot was dusty dirty no grass what so ever! I did enjoy the 3 miles trail along the lake. It was actually peaceful! I won't be back to this park again. read more

Hwy 101 is right next to this campground. The traffic, trucks, sirens are constant & often drowned out the conversation. I would give 1 star for the road noise but I'm giving it a 2nd star for cleanliness. read more

Fabulous park, great rangers - very helpful, lots to do! Had a great time kayaking with grandkids at Eel Lake, riding bikes around the park, super camp fires at night! Loved the yurts - what a fun experience. Close to Lakeside, Winchester Bay and Reedsport. Can't wait to come back! read more

Absolutely LOVE this campsite. Has been a favorite of my family and friends for almost 10 years. We come back with our large group at least once or twice in the summer. Very friendly staff, great relaxed setting for every kind of person. The lake and playground are great entertainment for all. There are a wide variety of campsites to choose from, and beautiful woodland to roam through. Safe and easy to navigate through William Tugman. I recommend this campground to any family, or couple, or large group looking for a laid-back, relaxed, and fun time. I have nothing but good to say on account of my 25 to 30 friends who have visited this campground. For the other person that reviewed this campsite: WOW how negative. Your opinion is respected, but speaking from an avid camper, and many others, William Tugman is the campsite I always come back to, and I wouldn't love any other as much as this one. read more

We stayed at Tugman for one night this past Labor Day weekend and we will not be back. We stay at State Parks up and down the Oregon Coast, we've never been to one we didn't like. This was the first. We we were in the A loop at the end of 4 park hosts and two sites down from us were the loudest, most obnoxious people ever. They partied until after midnight when park quiet hours are at 10pm. We have a baby so it was annoying to say the least. I tried calling the camp number, no answer, no message on what to do if you need to get someone after hours. I am shocked the hosts didn't hear a thing. They also have a park next to the lake which requires dogs to be on leash, multiple dogs were running wild. One guy was screaming at his dog to come back and he wouldn't. If you're a dog owner, you know how frustrating it is. We have a dog who isn't always friendly with other dogs, we keep ours on leash at all times and when you're dog is running free it can create a problem. It was the first state park we've been to where it seemed like no one follows the rules. We love to camp and have fun, but rules are in place for a reason. Very disappointing stay. read more

Today lakeside held an Easter egg hunt. To say the least I was offended by the staff and the way they treated me and my dog! This is supposed to be a pet friendly park but when we got out of our car an employee very rudely stated that our Staffordshire terrier should not be brought to a children's event. Upon walking through the park with our dog we seen at least 4 other dogs plus one off the leash running free through the crowd. Yet she had the nerve to tell me that MY dog shouldn't be there. Hands down the most disrespectful experience I have ever had. read more

A lot of the other reviews were right. If you're looking for peaceful, this place is not it. If you're looking to camp at night and get away during the day I could see this as working. We also neighbors who partied until 1am. I'm not adverse to partying but with two small kids it was frustrating to have grown adult neighbors not be able to quiet down, especially, as others have noted as well, when you have three sets of camp hosts not do anything about it. I'm not even sure if the camp hosts were there. The signs seemed to always say "off duty." There is a posted 10pm-7am quiet time on the front board. We had a yurt, which in late September was a good thing as I have no idea where people put their tents. We're used to camping in Oakridge or at Waldo Lake and as other reviewers said you're practically on top of one another at this location. The little tiny beach was pretty and my kids loved the play structure but because of the proximity to 101 (lots of noise), the closeness of the sites, the lack of responsibility of the camp hosts, and the amount of RVs, we probably won't be coming back. There are too many other beautiful sites in Oregon to enjoy. read more
