The hygienist at the time Carrie throughly explained the purpose of the deep cleaning, inflammation, bone loss. Etc As someone that always gets cleanings and having what I thought was a good at home routine I was a bit overwhelmed but Carrie and Dr. Patel assured me that I could get my tissue healthy again! First the right side then a few weeks later the left side. They increased my visits to every three months and gave me a at home regimen to follow! Since then I've been able to scale back to normal! When we first moved to the area, a dentist was a priority for my adult daughter, who suffers from a severe case of Social Anxiety so I first read reviews then reached out to Townsend Dental for an appointment. I sat down with who I thought was the office manager - but now I'm thinking she was front desk manager - regardless, I met with them, we sat down and discussed a treatment plan, I explained her diagnosis and struggles and I was assured that she would be placed with ONE dentist and ONE amazing tech during her visits. I explained that it was important for her to know them and feel comfortable. This I was promised, and my daughter went to several appointments with no trouble. But fast forward to recently when my daughter was told she needed more ($4,000) work done. I scheduled the appointment, sitting in the waiting room, she bursts through the door - her face so red I was afraid she was going to have a stroke, dental bib still around her neck. I didn't know what happened but tried to calm her and had her wait outside. I obviously wanted to wrap things up inside so I could check on her outside. Later I found out that what happened was the tech was working on a tooth that wasn't expected and so my daughter TRIED to question it but was ignored. She panicked and ran out. The failure here is on the staff that this tech and this doctor were NEVER informed of my daughters diagnosis and therefore were not prepared. It was a definite failure of communication. Several days pass (it took 2-3 days for the physical stress to dissipate) and I called the dentist office - thinking that we would discuss next steps and how to get her the treatment she needs. They however, were only concerned with the fact that they weren't compensated and lost $4,000. So they sent her a very cold letter saying that they no longer wanted her as a patient. I was shocked and honestly, it broke my heart!!! I tried to do this right so that my daughter wasn't hurt but she ended up hurt AND abandoned. This has been a MAJOR setback for her. Please be aware. When I booked my appointment at Aspen Dental I should have been told a "new patient" visit takes…read moreOVER 3.5 HOURS!! - I spent less time than that GIVING BIRTH to each of my 3 kids! The staff is friendly and facility is pleasant. I went in for help with a broken molar; expecting it to be addressed as THE priority of the visit and that it would be extracted during the visit. I received an x-ray series, an exam of condition of teeth and gums by hygienist, a REVIEW of the exam of my teeth and gums by the dentist (all totaling 3 hrs., incl. 2 hrs. wait time). Serious talk of periodontal disease, scaling and planing teeth my, antibiotic treatment (@ $101 per tooth!), health conditions that I do not have, replacing a missing cap with a root canal (never recommended before).... all recommended in an $12,000+ dental plan (cash) in addition to extracting the one broken tooth that was NOT extracted that day - the only REASON for the appointment THAT DAY! As I had to travel out-of-state the next day for a week, I have additionally lost a silver filling from either the broken molar or a neighboring tooth. I was really upset when I booked my appointment- and needed and wanted assistance- but ultimately received no dental help at all after a visit of almost 4 hours! I feel duped.
