Don't think you go here to get a price break. They are the best gun shop in the area. everyone is friendly and very open and helpful. Several weeks ago I went in with several collector pistols to sell. The agent at the used guns counter was extremely dismissive and would not give a real look at any of them and sent me away in a brusque manner. One of them admittedly had some rust so would need a good cleaning. "Some customers complain and come back, most never complain and never return". I will never return. Some of their staff forget they are overhead, the customer is Profit. I have a Colt 1873 SA Army 2nd generation. I originally went in to see if it could be re-blued. The man who does that was very honest in his opinion as to whether it would increase the value. I decided not to do it. I decided to get better grips and a ''base pin" for the cylinder. I was given a written estimate of $100.00 for the grips and a "question mark" for the pin. When I went to pick it up, I never got to view it before it went to the cashier's desk, where I had to stand in line. I think this was intentionally done so I would be in a position of not wanting to cause a disturbance. The cost was $377.76. They had my gun, and I was forced to pay. They should have called me to approve such a cost almost 4 times the estimate. What cost so much? The grips were $138.62 plus a screw for another $35.99. As a dealer, they can get those grips for about $60.00 and the screw for $10.00 from River Junction Trade Co. (I priced them) . They doubled the price and charged another $68.00 for the pin. That is not the most egregious part of this. I was then charged $100.00 to fit the grips and $20.00 more for screwing them on! Part of this was probably my fault. I was too trusting. I was part of the gun business for 20 years when younger and I remember it as being ethical. Also, over the past 30 years I have purchased at least 10-15 firearms from Williams. Also, I have sold many. When they had the big used rifle department, I drove an hour each way just to visit the place and usually bought something. Everything seems changed there. Don't give me a AI answer that your disappointed and I should call you. Won't happen. You want to make things right, you know how. read more

I had a whole lot of guns (like 50) taken here by my insurance company after a house fire. The gun smithing section did a good job cleaning and repairing them, although they are crazy expensive ($170 to clean and oil a Steoger Double defense shotgun, and another $25 to clean its' synthetic stock? C'mon now...). They also have a non refundable, non applicable, $35 "evaluation fee" on every gun. I get that if you don't get work done, but I think if you go ahead and have them do the work, it should be applied, or at least discounted. My biggest complaint, however, is the ridiculous check out process, that literally took over 2 hours for them to ring up 35 guns. I don't know what the process is, but it needs work. The women at the counter apologized profusely, but I still stood there 2+ hours. In addition, the people at the counter have obviously never been taught how to handle firearms correctly, and somehow fingered EVERY DAMN BIT of the metal on guns I JUST PAID to be CLEANED. I had to re-clean EVERY SINGLE GUN when I got then home, and when I already paid $130-$170+ to have cleaned? I was pretty upset. STOP TOUCHING THE DAMN METAL. Just stop. Please. It was making me crazy. When I mentioned it I was told "Well my grandfather was a gunsmith, so -I- know what I am doing...". Pretty clear when she couldn't open a break double barrel shotgun that gun smithing isn't genetic. This place has a large selection, and their gunsmiths are competent, but the outrageous pricing and complete lack of any organization, nor firearm knowledge, at the sales side make for an experience I will not repeat. read more

Beware (revised rating and see Update below): Used guns are not deep cleaned or test fired before they are sold. I bought a used Kahr CM9 pistol, for top price that did not fire even the first shot. After racking the pistol, it would fire about two times before another failure to fire. The pistol did manage to fire 50 rounds through two different magazines (about half full metal jackets and about half hollow points), but it took at least 70 tries to do so. Every bullet I tried eventually fired, so I don't suspect an ammunition or magazine problem. The business does offer free repair for 30 days, but the customer is expected to determine the quality of their own firearm and wait for any repairs and parts. Update: I was offered and accepted a full refund for my pistol by Steve Hicks at William's Gunsight. I could not ask for better service after having a problem with the counter help. I would happily do business with William's Gun Sight in the future with employees like Steve. Let's hope better training for problems when the read more

I called Williams on Jan 12-2025. I wanted to sell a CZ 375 H&H rifle. Whoever I talked to asked a fellow by the name of Steve and he said to bring it in that he will look at it. I brought it in on Jan 13 (today). The first remark was that all the elephants were dead in Michigan. I did not appreciate that at all. I know how big the gun is, but I figured Williams would have access to people who may be looking. He said that he couldn't sell it because there was no market for it. So, I asked him if he could ballpark a price for me and he said no because he would have to do a "bunch" of math, and he didn't have the time. Customer service is for s--t. I wouldn't buy a bb gun from them. Years ago, they were fine, but boy have things changed. Many years ago I took a shotgun in for repair. I think this was when the Williams family still owned the business. I waited for over a year to get the gun fixed, calling about every three months. Finally went in and said I wanted it back. They had fixed the gun, but removed the buttstock screw. Used it to fix someone else's gun. Could not find a replacement part any where, which is why they stole mine. So I says to myself that was a long time ago. Today I took an old military rifle in to have a Lyman receiver sight installed, and have a ramp and fiber optic front sight installed also. Gave the rifle and rear sight to counter guy, to take to the back and have a check on how much the cost would be. They say about $400 dollars for this. I say too much thank you anyway. Get home and one of the screws is missing from the bag with the sight. Not a happy camper. I have been going there since 1975. This will be the last time. read more

would not recommend them I bought a new Smith & Wesson revolver immediately went into the gun range and it malfunctioned to the manager. He says well in time it may fix itself. I said this is unacceptable. He says I'll have your gun looked at by our gunsmith gunsmith said if he worked on it, it would void the warranty, I told the manager that it didn't make any sense if they were a registered dealer for Smith and Wesson. He said he could send it to the factory and I can have it back in 45 days so I guess I bought $1000 paperweight. read more

Great people at counter and huge selection. POOR experience with their gun smithing. Took a rifle in for a relatively simple fix. Rifle did not feed when returned. Was not reassembled correctly nor, obviously, tested to see if it fed. A couple of hours on the web and I corrected the problems. Waste of time and money. read more

After a wonderful successful precheckout process on 12/24, it all went down hill very quickly. Our salesman carried our gun to checkout counter. No one was in line, so we waited until he walked thru the door as we had nothing in our hands to purchase. The lady at register 11, Tina, called us up. We pointed to our salesman, she barked "yeah, I know". Taken back, we said ok and approached the counter. Our salesman did meet us at register 11. He continued to talk to us to complete our purchase. Once he stepped away, Tina threw our pistol sales registration on the counter and grumbled "one for sheriff and one for you" She then told us total. As my husband was counting his cash, I asked for the trigger lock that we were told we would get at checkout. Tina said you have a lock in there already, I explained that is a cable lock, we also want the trigger lock. She argued we already have a lock. My husband stopped counting and said he just signed a form that says he received it and was told he gets at check out. And the cable lock in the purchase is different from a trigger lock. She argued gruffly with him. He said we were having a great buying experience until now. He said we will get our salesman back. She gruffly said sorry and threw a trigger lock in bag and was sure to tell us she threw it in. She said she was told if there was already a lock, don't give another. My husband said he signed a form stating he received one, therefore, he wanted it. Even her interaction with coworkers, she was gruff and dismissive to them unlike the smooth teamwork among the gun counter. After completing the payment transaction, she turned and walked away (there were still no other customers in line). We walked out in bewilderment. Tina completely ruined a fabulous buying experience. 4 hours later, we are still discussing how gruff, unwelcoming, and argumentative Tina was. To the point, my husband said if we went back in to buy something else and she was only cashier, he would not buy from WGS. We just can't believe after 2 days (12/23 & 12/24l of a wonderful experience with the guys at pistol counter, Tina singlehandedly ruined the overall experience. Worst gun shop ever. Poor customer service even worse than guns galore . Bought a brand new over under shot it 10 times and stopped firing . Took it in a day later and they acted like it was my fault or I didn't know how to use the gun. I've been shooting and building guns for 30+years. Safety was a fault from factory which I understand can happen at times . The way they treated me was horrible the gun was ready for over a week and no call to let me know luckily I called to get an update to only find out it has been ready to be picked up. I'm a fan of Williams. Are some of their new firearms a little pricey. Depends on the model and what your looking for. They have a lot of high quality firearms and a lot of staff. That is worth an extra $50 to me on $500-$2000 firearm. In other words they will show you want you want to see let you inspect the firearm and let you know your alternative options. I'd much rather touch feel and look at different firearms in the same class before I buy. It's not the same as YouTube videos and on-line purchasing. Also they do have sales and promotions and a huge selection of used firearms. Just pay attention and get on their mailing list. read more

Truth be told, I was looking for a difficult magazine for a gun made before my time. To add more to the equation the magazine was from an Italian manufacture that is no longer around. I contacted the gun shop via email with a reply back to call their number during business hours. My surprise was they had the exact match for my firearm right down to the finish which is fairly rare. Within 2-3 minutes on the phone, the order was made and I had in my mailbox within a couple of days. The price was reasonable and service was great. Perhaps more business in the future. read more

It's a newer model store they pretty much have everything you need there very clean things that I had a problem with was the prices number 1 extremely high prices for example a same 22 gun was overpriced by $150 from other places I went there to sight my scope on my shotgun with my little kid he's 9 years old and they wanted to charge me $8 for me and $8 for him for the outdoor shooting range. Took my 30.6 to get a new scope installed and bore sighted staff was friendly and very helpful excellent place for gunsmithing

My fiance, his son and I used to go here monthly (as we live an hour away) but due to our recent experience we will no longer be returning. There was an older, larger range officer who made us all very uncomfortable and anxious the entire time we were shooting. He never left us be, kept pestering us about the shotgun we were shooting and making rude remarks the whole hour we were there. There is a fine line between doing your job and being a hovering jerk. We really enjoyed our experience at William's until that day. We have since taken our range time elsewhere and refuse to come back, unfortunately. Hopefully this man learns to be more respectful and courteous to your customers, it would be a shame if you lost any more due to his actions. read more

Nice shop with an exceptional selection of firearms. There are a few crossbows and other fun toys available as well, but I like them for their firearm selection and knowledge. I actually have not been to the range yet, but that's just because this winter is overstaying it's welcome. Prices are very reasonable compared to any other retail or online firearms dealer. I usually see firearms marked up quite a bit in retail stores compared to online sellers, but Williams hasn't had jacked up prices for anything I've looked at so far. Anytime I ask to check out a firearm, someone is there right away and stays right with me to answer any questions, or just strike up a good conversation. The store is well-stocked, well-staffed, has a great selection, and each of the staff really know their firearms well. As soon as the weather warms up I'll check out the range. read more

Visited the store and attempted to purchase a shotgun today. They offered a price I was willing to pay. They then told me that I had no Michigan drivers license so they would not sell the gun (I own houses in Michigan, but also elsewhere and have a drivers license in another state, as well as having a concealed weapons license reciprocal with michigan). Store policy, it seemed. Perhaps they could ship it to an FFL near me? I left disgusted with my treatment. I thought about the shotgun all the rest of the day, and thought about the shipping option they offered. I called back later in the day, and tried again to buy the shotgun. I asked the counter guy if WILLIAMS would pay the shipping, since they were forcing me into this option. The reply "..probably not." I asked who I could talk to, and my call was supposed to have been transferred. Actually, I was put on hold, and after about 5 minutes, the call rolled over to the receptionist who asked if she could help me, starting from scratch. I gave up at that point. I've rarely run into customer service this bad. The fact that I was willing to spend $1800 on a shotgun was apparently irrelevant to them. I suggest you steer clear of the clubby atmosphere at Williams - if you ain't one of the boys, you ain't buying anything there!
