Making this review in hopes that they make improvements to get back to previous level of service. Cons: - When we got here, we learned that the pool wouldn't be open for the season until mid-to-late June. I wish they had that noted that when we made our reservations. On the second day here, they placed a note at the front desk explaining why the pool was closed and why it looked green. - Damaged shower curtain rod resulted in water all over the bathroom. Mentioned it to front desk staff and they were surprised that it wasn't noted in the maintenance log. They said facility maintenance wasn't available. - No vent fan in the bathroom. - No housekeeping service the first night. I went to the front desk to get towels and they were surprised. Next day, we had housekeeping but they didn't restock the towels. Had to go to the front desk again. Pros - The grounds, parking lobby, & common spaces were very clean & well maintained. - The breakfast area was well stocked & clean. Don't stay here if you can help it because you get less than you pay for here. Online, this inn…read morelooked decent for the price ($59.99 for a King bed). However, upon arrival, you quickly realize it's just a bad motel with cheap coverups. The walls, mirrors, curtains, etc. are nasty and banged-up. The bathroom has what looks like a permanent stain around the edges. The mattress is disgusting, and the sheets/covers had burn holes and a hair. But the most atrocious part of it all is the bugs. I'm not sure if they are roaches or beetles or what but I've found at least 4 live and 6 dead within the first couple of minutes of arriving. None of this is surprising as the cleaning lady seemed to spend 10 minutes or less cleaning the room up. I will never stay here again, I'd rather sleep in my car. Go to the Quality Inn across the street if you can!

There were always seedy transients hanging around, and lots of noise and door slamming and drug activity, but again, not unexpected for a cheap seedy place. This past week, I checked in and was shocked that the price has jumped to $60. I politely mentioned that it used to be $40 but the receptionist (who has worked there for years) shook her head "no". She was a poor liar. All evening there was the usual drug activity and cars coming and going at all hours, yelling, etc. At bedtime I went to turn on the heat, only to find that the heat/AC unit was broken. I called the front desk repeatedly but there was no answer. Spent a cold night shivering. At checkout, I complained (again politely) that the room had no heat, and was expecting to be offered at least a partial refund. Instead, I was waved off and told "have a nice day". NEVER AGAIN! The next night I stayed at one of the chain hotels in the same city and it was the same price as the Royal Inn dump. Why anyone would spend $60 at this place instead of the 3 other nice places for the same price is beyond me.

Loved they had a bunch of items and my son was addicted to the waffles wish they had items to put on them but I'm sure I can bring next time I come. There was waffle maker, multi choice of cereal, milk, juice, coffee, tea, apples, biscuit and gravy, egg and sausage, bread, beagle, mini danish, muffins and packets of grits and oatmeal to make. Overall, a nice unexpected visit to this charming area.
