It is clean, smells good, and the rooms are spacious. They offer a decent complementary hot and continental breakfast as well as areas to do business, etc. All hotel staff was very professional and friendly. There was one issue that I had with this hotel. On Friday, October 28th, the fire alarm went off throughout the hotel. It lasted for probably around 30 minutes or so. There was no communication or any staff members on the floors instructing guests on what to do. We were all very confused and didn't know if this was a test alarm or if we needed to evacuate the building. There were never any instructions for us to evacuate our rooms. I decided to leave the room and go out of the building because the alarm kept going off and no one was saying anything. As I took the stairs from the fourth floor down to the first floor, there was a strong smell of what seemed like rubber burning. It was only when I got to the first floor that I went and asked one of the staff what was going on and she said that someone put something in the microwave that wasn't supposed to be in the microwave and triggered the fire alarm. At that time, two firemen entered the building to go and evaluate the situation. This was handled poorly. Guests should have received communication on the expectations regarding that fire alarm. Had this been a different situation with a real fire, this lack of communication could've had a detrimental effect on the guests. Other than that situation with the fire alarm, I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. It is a really good hotel. I rated it as a three solely because of the issue with the fire alarm.

Our bathroom sink was clogged/slow to drain and we didn't have any hot water, only warm. Because we arrived to the hotel so late that night I didn't make a fuss about it, but during our checkout the following morning, I let the front desk attendant know. Breakfast was blah and unless it was packaged, it wasn't stocked (eggs, toast, bagels). I was really disappointed in our most recent stay here especially considering that it is a Marriott hotel. He stated he has been managing that hotel for 7 years and there is no one above him. I ended up staying at The Embassy suites across from their parking lot. They were great! They gave me a room right away so I could get some sleep. I had just drove 14 hours from Florida. James did not care that I had paid for everything in full and was the rudest person I've ever encountered at a hotel franchise. I will never stay at a La Quinta or a Wyndham property. I will always choose Hilton from this day forward.

Myself, I just needed something right off of I-40 and this DT fit that bill nicely. Plenty of parking around the building and aside from one group, I don't think the hotel had much in terms of occupancy. Check in was quick and easy. No issues other than they were supposedly out of cookies for the weekend and when I took a look at their market shop next to the desk, it was picked clean. Only real complaint from me is that it would have been nice to have known the property had more than one elevator and that my room was not anywhere near the elevator I was directed to. The room is the the room. A/C was ripping when I walked in which of course is classic move of the housekeeper turning it way down to keep them cool while they work but no one from management behind them turning it to the appropriate pre-set temperature. While it was a little warm outside, having the air on 64 was overkill. The bed was fine and the room was as advertised except for the stupid barn door that they have for the bathroom. The door wasn't exactly on the track and if the barn door was all the way open to the right, in theory you could open the room door and put the door handle right into/through the glass on the barn door. Not a great design. Two brief points of noise: The kids from that group were sprinting/yelling through the hallways until well after 10pm and a member from staff was outside banging around the pool area with a skimmer/pressure washer/the chairs until very late as well. At the end of the day, a DT is a DT. At least in the US this is Hilton's Goodwill/thrift store brand. Very few if any are built new and the ones that exist are either very old or it's a conversion from another brand that is still built on the bones of a 30-40 plus year old building. Good Enough

The rooms were clean and the size was great! I so liked how the place looked...from the front porch, to the small fireplace in the lobby, to the beautiful front stairs...just so nice.
