I had a very mixed experience with this company. Quincy, the sales representative, was excellent--professional, responsive, and clearly trying to help resolve an issue with my order. Unfortunately, the experience deteriorated when a team lead became involved. The lead was difficult to work with, inconsistent, and ultimately made the situation worse rather than better. Here's what happened: Quincy was initially told there was no way to expedite the order. Shortly after, the lead changed the message and said the order could be expedited if I canceled and repurchased, paying additional shipping. Quincy tried to make things right by offering a 10% rebate for the trouble (about $34), but the approval process dragged on and became unnecessarily argumentative. The lead asked me to prove the website showed delivery before Christmas, which was frustrating--especially because I called immediately after receiving the revised delivery confirmation. When I asked him to simply check the website himself, the conversation continued to escalate instead of getting resolved. The lead also contradicted the earlier statement by again saying expedited delivery was possible through canceling and paying shipping--directly conflicting with what Quincy had been told upfront. After roughly 45 minutes of back-and-forth, it became clear that the company valued policies and deflection over customer experience. During the call, I also noticed the company's online ratings were quite low (roughly 1.9-2.8 range), which aligned with what I was experiencing in real time. In the end, I canceled the order. Quincy did everything he could, but he was clearly constrained by unhelpful leadership. To make matters worse, the lead refused to provide his name or the name of an executive contact for a formal complaint. I cannot recommend purchasing from this company based on the customer service experience. A good product does not make up for poor customer support and inconsistent communication. read more

I love this store. They have everything in stock. I especially love Joe. He's always there when I visit. Always pleasant and helpful and knowledgeable! You just want to hang out with him! He's great. His partner does catering so Joe's knowledge on cooking is expanded and he can answer just about anything on cookware. While i was last there a lady gave us sample cookies and they were amazing! Coconut was my favorite. She said she'd add Lemon too! read more

What sets this particular WS apart from the others, for me, is the outstanding customer service. I brought in a salad bowl that we've actually had to replace three times because the wood kept separating, which definitely should not happen to a salad bowl that costs over $100. While it was replaced by other locations, I can't say the experience was pleasurable nor was it easy. In fact, the last time it happened, I remember feeling a deep shame and embarrassment, as the sales rep made me feel like I was being a cheap-skate or thief or something. Really, I just don't want my super-expensive merchandise to fall apart. But I digress... My husband convinced me to go through the process of returning it and just getting a refund. Lucky for me, the women at this branch are so sweet and helpful, it was a breeze and they were so apologetic and sweet it actually WAS a pleasant experience. The whole transaction took under ten minutes, and I was on my merry way with a refund and a new favorite WS to shop at. read more

I entered their Garden City store to purchase a Cuisinart coffee pot. One customer was leaving and there was three employees in the store a couple was finishing what seemed to be their wedding register. Not one employee acknowledged us. Lost a $200.00 sale. before leaving I walked up to the three of them which by the way not one person in the store. I said ladies thank you for all you help. One responded your very welcome. I love this store but the woman at the front desk is horrid. Every time we go in there she scowls at us and is so rude. Then, as we are checking out, she stares at us with cold dead eyes as if she hates us for actually shopping there. Really? As if it's not bad enough that I am spending $20 on microwave popcorn I have to deal with this rotten and angry lady? This is the last straw and I'm not going in there again. I love Williams Sonoma, all of our kitchen ware is WS, however this store is so small and carries so little. You're banging into other customers and can't take time to enjoy and look as well as reps who don't offer assistance. I shop online, however my suggestion is to order from a rep on the phone, to make sure the product is not "out of stock". The date gets pushed further and further and I end up canceling. This has happened a few times. I call customer service and get 10 different responses. This is where my entire frustration lies with WS. read more

I recently visited the Williams-Sonoma outlet in Wrentham, MA. I found great kitchen items that I was not able to locate in other stores. The prices in the outlet really can't be beat and the staff was very helpful even with the large crowd that was shopping for the sale. The sales associate even let me change my mind on the spot and reworked my transaction with a smile. This was a great experience and left me feeling like a valued customer. I was just in Williams Sonoma for a brief visit on my lunch hour. I found a few items on the sale rack but the discounted price wasn't tagged on the item. I inquired about the correct price and the first salesperson checked and told me that it was discounted to a certain amount plus an additional discount but she was busy helping another customer - who by the way was nowhere to be found- so she directed me to another register in the front of the store. The next salesperson very matter of factly told me the item was a completely different price and rather than apologize for the confusion proceeded to lecture me on how the discounts were given. I am a total foodie and enjoy browsing cooking stores and trying out new products but the service at this WS is seriously lacking. I'll stick to Sur la Tabla next time. read more

Love this store, and their products, however I had a very rude encounter tonight with a salesperson. I was at the register debating on a purchase, along with purchasing other things that I was definitely buying and she was very impatient and discourteous. She was seemingly bothered by my indecision. I ended up NOT purchasing them because of her attitude, had she been a better sales person, more patient I would have gladly purchased them, I could have been persuaded with a better temperament. I was just in this store returning a knife set I had previously purchased. As soon as I walked up to the desk, the store clerk scowled at me, as she laid eyes on my return. Throughout the entire return process this woman was absolutely horrid. She never once smiled, made me feel that my concerns were validated, and she kept sighing, huffing, and puffing throughout the entire process. By the time it was done her awful attitude made me feel I should leave the store immediately. For such a high end, well respected store I was shocked that someone with such lowly customer service skills would be hired to work there. read more

I had a great experience in the Cranston, RI store this weekend. After serious frustrations with our online order, I headed to the store to get help with a return. Kyle went above expectations in being courteous, knowledgeable, and sympathetic to my concerns. The return had a glitch, but he stayed on top of it until the problem was solved to my satisfaction. The store was clean and well stocked. All of the staff appeared cheerful and ready to help. As a bonus, they were having a bake sale to support the No Kid Hungry campaign and the treats were fabulous. It looked like the staff broke out all of the tools and the WS mixes to bring out the best for the bake sale. While I will not be shopping Williams Sonoma online again, Kyle and the others at the Cranston store were nice enough that I will be shopping with them again. read more

I am writing this based on the Rhode Island store's outstanding customer service. When I called the store looking for a table cloth, I'd already phoned 4 stores in Massachusetts and 2 in Connecticut and everyone was sold out. But, unlike the 6 other stores, the woman who answered the phone in Rhode Island checked her computer and gave me the names of 2 stores in 2 other states who had at least 2 each of the tablecloth I wanted. I phoned one of these stores, placed the order and now and happily awaiting the delivery. The woman in Rhode Island (I'm so sorry I didn't get her name!) went above and beyond. I could not be more thankful! Outstanding work - thanks so much! read more
