Let me just preface this review with the fact that I am a HUGE fan of Miranda Lambert. If you know me at all, you already know this fact. I decided to stop in after ordering a No Kid Hungry collaboration with Miranda in the form of a limited edition spatula. I ordered 2 days prior first thing in the morning. I drove almost an hour to this location for pick up. When I arrived, they said the order was nowhere to be found. So that was odd. Carl was great. Very upbeat, friendly, and willing to help. The short haired blonde lady (Didn't catch her name but assumed she was the manager of some sort) was very hateful. Yelling at an employee to put her earpiece on her ear when the employee had made it known very politely it had fallen out and she hadn't realized. People make mistakes. We ARE human after all. I was told my only option was to repurchase and I'd have to wait for my refund. I don't like that they couldn't rectify this situation in a easier manner, but when I told Carl to go ahead and cancel my order and I'd purchase in store, the "manager" sighed, rolled her eyes, and said "WELL! You're gonna have to call customer service now to cancel it." She was a very unfriendly lady. If you hate your job, find a new one. After reading previous reviews, they check out. Carl was the ONLY employee who made being here worth it. I will never shop at this location again, I'd rather shop online and pay shipping. There needs to be some serious coaching with these woman employees. Carl deserves a raise and he should absolutely take over as manager. 3 stars is too much for this location, but Carl's 5 star service is what helped them. Please do better! This is my happy place! I stop by a lot to look around or if I have any kitchen need. The staff are so incredibly kind and happy to help. They're really knowledgeable about anything in the culinary world, and will answer any questions you might have. The kitchen equipment is high quality and will last a lifetime. We got a gift card for our wedding and spent it on silverware. They didn't have it in stock at this location so we ordered it online but they made us pay for shopping. Less than a month later, the silverware was rusted. We brought them back to exchange them, which they said we could do. They then took our silverware, but again didn't have what we wanted in stock, leaving us silverware-less. Again. Should not be having this issue for the amount of money we are spending. Do yourself a favor and don't buy from here! read more

My girlfriend and I came to the store to buy China for a new house that we had just purchased for 2.5 million dollars cash. We were closing in a week and we needed every day and light formal China. We were looking at the patterns and we asked for help and we were commenting on which one we liked best and in serious consideration of two different patterns. The tall women helping has walked off. My girlfriend continued to search until she found exactly what she wanted, but she was treated like she was indigent. Perhaps because she speaks an accented English, but she is highly educated and extremely intelligent. One of the ladies asked if we were going to buy as if we were just wasting time in there. The store wasn't that busy, just a few other couples. She picked out what she wanted and asked how much it would be and this Hurley salesperson told her $2000 without looking up prices . Perhaps it was to scare us off I don't know. It was $900. We asked if we could pick it up in a week because we had not closed the home yet. We also were going to purchase other pieces online after we closed on the home. The entire time the woman at the cash register was surly, as if we were wasting her time. We paid and left.. Everything was supposed to be packed up for us when we arrived next week. When my girlfriend arrived the next week, nothing was packed so she had to wait. It is not a small distance from our house. When she unpacked, one multitiered piece, one needed a center screw to attach it to the base. The screw was missing. She called the store and the person answering the phone told her to find a screw in her house. The screw was decorative. So she drove all the way downtown to pick up a screw that fit the tiered porcelain. I was appalled. She told the manager that they didn't even try to sell us anything else or show us anything else like a good salesman. I would only go back there to replace items that were broken. I would not visit this business again. It was a terrible experience. We don't like being mistreated in that manner. I don't know what judgment they're making on us because we were well dressed. This store is synonymous with holiday time. And there is no more charming location than Trolley Square at holiday time. I placed an order online and staff had the items ready to pick up when I arrived. The store has the highest rated cookware and cutlery. Their snacks are also delicious and beautifully packaged for gifting. Their hand and dish soap is the scent of the season, whatever the season. And I love their welcoming signature potpourri simmering on the range top. WS offers the most pleasant shopping experience. read more

I ordered a gift online. The confirmation listed the wrong address. I called to correct it, and got some shady recording about my free $100 promotional gift. When I got a person on the line, it was from an Indian call center. The guy said the phone number had changed, but he would give me the new one after I gave him my debit card info. This place has specialty drinks are, Cooper clad cookware, ornate hand painted dishes from different countries, specialty bakeware, beautiful flatware, gorgeous placemats and kitchen towels, and all kinds of kitchen gadgets. I visited here with my sister the Saturday before Thanksgiving, and they had all kinds of fun demonstrations set up. We tried a green smoothie, some bread + olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and lastly THE BEST stuffing and gravy ever. Seriously, my sister and I both took a bite and swooned. It was their focaccia stuffing mix so if you ever see that just grab it and you can thank me later. Anyways, they carry a great assortment of mostly kitchen items, but also some general home items as well. I love their tiny taper candles. They have beautiful bundt and cake pans, along with gorgeous copper pots (a girl can dream!). They had a nice selection of cookbooks, which I'd never noticed before. I try to avoid a lot of prepared foods, but what they carry is generally pretty good, and they also sell spices, salts, etc. They are a fun place to check out if you are looking for a food item that is a little more exotic or different than what your grocery store might carry (my sister found white BBQ sauce, which is apparently difficult to track down). The employees were all very friendly and helpful. Their prices are high, but they carry high quality items so no big deal. They do also sometimes have pretty decent sales. I don't go out of my way to go here, but I like to visit every few months, and whenever I do I'm reminded of why I like it so well. read more

The kitchen is the heart of the home. So, if you need some more heart at your home then shop at William-Somona. I am jealous of all of the items that they have here and I just want it all. We have been shopping at this store for years. We have bought multiple sets of All Clad pots and pans for us and are kids. All of our stemware and the list goes on and on. Purchased 4 electric salt shakers and 4 electric pepper shakers for Christmas presents at $70 for each. One of the pepper shakers stopped worked a couple of weeks ago. Took it in today for repair or exchange and was told we only take returns within 30 days. How can you run a business like that? I would guess on average we spend $1,500-2000 per year in that store and they basically just asked us to stop shopping there. So short sighted. read more

Did you know they have a kids cook club? I had no idea until we stopped in to look at something else and were offered a sample of pumpkin pie cooked by the kids cook club that morning. The staff at this location is always so helpful as well, and the store is nicely laid out. read more

I hate to leave a bad review but my experience was pretty bad overall. I bought a cast iron pan for a friends graduation present. When it got to her house she asked if we could exchange it for the other color they have. So we called and they said yes the can do that we just need to come in to the store to sort that out. We went in and returned the one we first got and the money was going to be put back on my card in like 14 days. I had to buy the new one but I didn't see a problem with that because I was told I'd get the money back from the first one. Any way after 14 day no money so I called. They put in some of my info and said give 5 day and I will have the money. After 5 day still no money so I called again. They put in more information and said 5 day and it will be in my account. After 5 day still no nothing. I called again and the guy said they can not give me my money back but what they can do is give me a gift card for the same amount of money. I did not want that because it was so expensive $230 to be exact but I felt trapped like I had to except it. So he said the would email me a gift card and to give it 48 hours and I would have it. It has now been 4 days and I don't even have the gift card. So overall I've spent $460 on two pans but only received one and they are yanking me around a lot. I love Williams-Sonoma so much that every time we go to Trolley Square the kids automatically veer right into the store. They know we're going in there no matter what. This store is a food-lover's paradise carrying everything from elegant tableware and aprons, to the Darth Vader pancake molds. I love the sales staff, they are all very knowledgeable and helpful and great with my sample-seeking children. Prices are on the higher side but the quality affords it. I highly recommend this store for all of your kitchen needs (and wants). read more

My review is actually for Williams-Sonoma on-line. I went to the store in November to find Thanksgiving and Christmas hand soap and lotion. The store only had them in packages that included candles and dishsoap, which I didn't want, so I ordered them on-line. I received part of my order for the Thanksgiving hand soap but didn't get the Christmas hand soap or Christmas lotion. On 11/3 I got a notification from UPS that it was in SLC and would be delivered on 11/4. It wasn't. Delivery date kept changing. It appears that it got lost at UPS and was lot in their system. After following expected shipment info for three weeks without delivery, I called WS customer service and was told there was nothing they could do since it was a UPS problem (meanwhile, WS had had my money for a month by then). I told them that I ordered it from them, they had my money, and I hadn't received my stuff, so it was their problem and they needed to refund me and they could deal with UPS. The WS rep told me I could refute the charges with my credit card company, so I did. I'm still waiting for reimbursement. Williams-Sonoma's On-Line Customer Service is basically non-existent and what you do get is completely useless and unhelpful. How sad for such a formerly reputable company to have such poor customer service for such a simple item. They should've just refunded my $42.00 (and by the way, $42 is a lot of money for a bottle of hand soap and a bottle of hand lotion - this experience was NOT worth my time!) read more

It's a magical wonderland of stuff that makes me wish I could cook (which is quite a huge accomplishment in itself) and could definitely help me look su-weet while making the effort. I just love to wander around in here. The staff is so nice and excited about life, and yes, that includes you Andrew S. And it's even better when they are passing out free samples of stuff. Having a kitchen/cooking/gadget loving husband, I can appreciate all that this store has to offer. Super-friendly staff who help educate you about their many products. They even have Star Wars aprons. What's not to love about that! This place isn't cheap, but they have some great sales from time to time. They also frequently have free cooking classes/demonstrations that cover a wide variety of cooking topics. In any big city you can find a kitchen/housewares/specialty-foods shop that sells a plethora of products for the home cook/chef/gourmet. The store is usually jam packed with all of the tools of the culinary trade. There are so many different things in such a place that most people wouldn't have any idea what to do with most of the stuff on the shelves. Honestly, who needs a duck press or a salmon knife, but it sure is fun to mosey around these shops imagining the grand dinners you could cook if you had some of these tools. Here in Salt City we don't have an old kitchen store that's been around since your grandmother was 3; we have Williams-Sonoma. Way back when it wasn't a global chain and it wasn't so high-end, (wow, haven't used that term in a few reviews) it was the store people went to when they needed culinary tools you couldn't get at ZCMI. But times have changed and these days' things are a bit different. W-S has grown up and your grandmother actually works here. Now unfortunately your grandmother is a nervous thing that follows you around the shop asking repeatedly if there's anything she can help you find. It's almost as though the matronly sales staff is afraid you're going to touch something that they'll have to clean the fingerprints off of if you don't actually buy the thing you just touched. And lest you forget my betrothed happens to be from Haiti so, when he walks in with or without the kids in tow, the matrons seem to follow us around more so to make sure he's not accidentally dropping things in his pockets. Years ago I used to enjoy shopping at W-S. It's been in the same Trolley Square location so long I remember running into Marie Osmond who was with husband number two; I think she's on like number five now. That should tell you just how long I've been frequenting this place. Back then they didn't have such a doting staff and I actually enjoyed browsing around looking at all the fun stuff. The store still has a good selection of useful kitchen equipment that's now buried behind displays of premium coffee makers, blenders, and waffle irons and packaged mixes for use in said equipment. But there's so much glitz and glamour you feel more like a bull in a china shop than a chef in a tool shop. And maybe the staff actually thinks they're being helpful. Maybe they remember what it was like when they shopped at ZCMI with their grandmothers and how the sales ladies took care of their every need. Or maybe the temple is full up on its volunteer slots so they have to work here instead. Whatever the reason, they don't really make me feel like spending enough time here to have a personal revelation about which balloon whip to buy so I end up walking out empty handed and just going buy it somewhere else. read more

The store manager was very rude and discriminatory towards me. I was trying to make an exchange and she started to raise her voice at me with a tone like I wasn't educated. Also, she started to insinuate that I do this all the time which left me thinking if she was trying to say that I am a dishonest person. Horrible customer service!! I have purchased several products from WS before and was never treated with such disrespect. I am not sure if the manager was having a bad day or if she doesn't know how to fullfill her position. Support your local kitchen store instead. I have always loved this company. But working for them was a nightmare. The women in management at this store might be cute and nice to your face. But they talk trash behind employee and customer backs. Be careful getting on their bad side as an employee or customer. I always tried avoiding them and would just focus on filling shelves or helping customers if I could. After returning home from college I thought I'd try working there again. I was promised a place on the work schedule ASAP and then never heard back from Bob. I even followed up a few times. Why offer me my old job without intending to actually do so?! Ridiculous. Immature. And consistently UNPROFESSIONAL. Employees constantly complained about feeling unwelcome around managers when I was there and were scared to speak up. Shallow. Lost my and all my friends' business. Corporate HR is aware. Probably won't do anything. Please go support a local kitchen store instead. read more

Expensive but there is certainly some fantastic items here. I love their season baking pans (Halloween=skulls, Thanksgiving=turkeys, etc) and they have a good select spice area. But what really gives this local the 5 star rating is the kids cooking classes that they offer. Fantastic! In fact, from what I understand from talking with the staff, this was the first location to offer the kids cooking classes and it spread nationwide. How cool is that! read more

Beautiful but very overpriced items, which should really reflect in their customer service. Unfortunately, that's not the case, employees rarely greet customers when they walk in the store, they sure keep their noses high and look at people like they are the ones who own the store. These employees are surely not hired based on customer service experience or on how nice they are, but on how stuck up they can be. The store is right in the middle of town, so you would think they expect diversity to walk in, but they seriously could care less about the customers, and if you ask too many questions they get annoyed, so just walk around and look, but don't ask. Also, they are super stingy with their in store cooked samples, and will give you dirty looks if you have kids and get more than one, it happens every single time we've been there with kids. Like when I visit REI for example...perhaps to buy some socks...I always end up browsing the stuff in the store...And I buy stuff that I didn't plan on buying. It is the same with Williams Sonoma... I feel that sometimes I shouldn't be allowed in their store. I can't believe that I buy stuff at WS but it makes me happy buying stuff there. I really like the staff at the Trolley Square Store.
