I listed…read moreon my request to be quotes for the following work: -Joist replacements -vapor barrier installation (never had one in) -old insulation removal (installed wrong) -new insulation installation -some work near the sill plate to fix a small leak Let me first say that all the staff I talked with were incredibly friendly! I will pay extra for companies that go above and beyond, and for that reason I was leaning towards Indiana Crawl Space Repair. Whoever mans the phone over there is very kind! I knew when I purchased my home that a few of the joists would need replaced. I confirmed what the inspector told me by getting a quote for the work with another company- about 4K was their estimate, which included a newly found issue, MOLD... I'm reluctant to pay that much, so I wanted a second opinion. So I called ICSR and informed them of the findings and requested an itemized quote for all issues now found. They were quick and polite ! We scheduled a visit only 2 weeks out, which worked fine for me. I allowed the technician to begin the inspection before I arrived back home. He was younger than I would have expected, but courteous none-the-less. The issue was the quote and it's amount. The quote work was exhaustive in the work he believed was needed, which included a very fancy drain system. It also included some other items that I didn't request that would "ensure my crawlspace not retain water"- although this isn't my issue because the crawl doesn't flood. The real issue I saw was that the biggest portion of my original requests- the joists- weren't even included in the cost estimation... when I asked him why he said because he could see no damage. After a few extra questions on how that could be, I discovered that he didn't remove any of the old insulation to check the joists, and only assessed what was visible to the naked eye. The total costs for work I didn't ask for, and for work that didn't address my biggest concern was $12k all in all!! I don't believe his intention was to sticker shock me; i'm just not sure he knew exactly what I was looking for with the work I requested. My rating here was hard to assess- in terms of employees, I would give 5 Stars... in terms of costs I would say more like 2 Star. I will mention, I've been told for all the work they quoted, the price really wasn't bad. Just not what I was looking for.

He installs measuring sticks throughout the attic to assure that the adequate depth of insulation is installed. As verification of the work, photos of the installation are shown to the home owner. He discovered that a bathroom vent hose was disconnected so he repaired this while he was in the attic. I would definitely use Remmy's again for any insulation work.

If we are travelling we look for Goodwill stores along the way to check them out. I must admit she has acquired several treasures among the numerous other items she brings home. The local Goodwill in Martinsville is her go to store for grandchildren clothing, furniture, glassware and dishes. Plus she likes country folk art so pictures, miscellaneous things to hang up in the laundry room, bathroom, anywhere basically. She loves finding things she loves at great prices. She recently found me a lighted Man Cave sign that looks great hanging in my garage. This Goodwill is cleaner and better arranged than most we have been in and she has been in plenty. They used to have sales the first Saturday of the month where everything was 50% off. While Covid stopped those, the stores still have sales everything using a color code on the tags. For example, if the color is blue, anything with a blue tag is 50% off. And holidays often include 15% off plus you can get a 10% senior discount everyday. My wife says you have to go on a regular basis to catch the best deals. Furniture goes very quickly so if you see something you want, out it into your basket or tell a cashier you want it and they will slap a "sold" tag on it until you're ready to leave; don't wait. She has been in the store and just continued to shop thinking that table would still be there and wouldn't you know it, someone picked it up and that was that. Some people are funny about wearing used clothing. Not my wife and granddaughter (yet). Yes she will tell you there is some junk and some clothes that shouldn't be put out due to stains, tears etc, but she has found name brand clothes for all of our 10 grandchildren. Her daughter is always looking for long skirts especially jean ones. This is where she has found most of them and all the name brands. She finds things for herself too and at a fraction of what they would cost new. For those who enjoy good books, they have plenty of options there as well. And CD's and DVD's. You need to plug electrical stuff in before you buy it to ensure it works. Plenty of lamps and shades most of the time. If someone is just starting out in life with their first house or apartment, shopping here will get you a good start without breaking the bank. My wife isn't one of those looking to find something rare and make a million bucks. I guess people do find such things. But she is just happy when she finds a new top for less than $5 or a Jean skirt for her daughter for under $5. She may not find something every time you go and that's okay. She will try again in a couple days. They do have clean restrooms at this store. They also have four fitting rooms that say closed but you just have to ask them to unlock one of them for you. There is plenty of free parking.

Galloway-Beck installed a replacement water heater a few years ago. It failed in November 2018 due…read moreto misinstallation according to the latest installers. The water drain for the exhaust (high efficiency water heater) was not connected back up to the new water heater. The drain was capped off allowing condensation to run back into the burner and ruining the burner and a sensor. It was undetected until it failed. Additionally, the installation by Galloway-beck was overcharged as compared to the estimate I was given including replacement stainless steel connectors that were never installed. I never pursued it at the time. I suggest you get a professional to install your equipment.
