The one time I needed to return something that I happened to have misplaced the receipt for, they issued a store credit as it still had the store sticker on it and I was able to use that which worked out well for me. Not sure what happened with Diana M's experience, but mine thru the years have always been positive. I like the old school hardware store feel from my youth, the knowledgable employee's and their help in finding the odd things I usually end up there looking for!

Sometimes they suggest that I hire a professional. Sometimes they point to a tool or part that will make my job much easier. I never get the impression that they are swaggering around and trying to impress me with how much they know. That compares to some other hardware stores where the clerks are either never there, or too busy stocking shelves to help me, or on a huge ego trip or dumber than a box of rocks. Nope. The folks at Pettit Hardware don't push. They just try to help.

I tried 3 days in a row and triple checked the number. I did not want to drive for half an hour if they had a fix over the phone or if they were closed. Today I took my lunch hour to go there and in the window there is a big sign that says "CLOSED 12/24 - 1/1 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!" WHAT? No Message on their phone at all let alone saying they are closed for a WEEK! Get a voicemail service PLEASE. So I call Hoover to get an alternate repair shop, they do have a VM and it says they are closed for the holidays. I can not win.
