Stay away from this scam-nursery as they do ship out dead/frozen to death plants (mummies who look alive upon receiving because they were frozen solid who knows for how many years). Once you plant it they never wake up . Policy for refund is not covering shipping which is half of your purchase. So you will pay half price again if you get the store credit. I have managed to re order the replacement next year of 4 grafted plants, only to find out they I fill get same frozen to death plants. Second replacements on year 3 got refused. That is a perfect set up in plant business. Stay away from this company, I wish I have read reviews before. I ordered 4 fig trees from Willis Orchard. The trees did not survive. According to their "terms and conditions" I would be entitled to a merchandise credit. I emailed the company and included pictures of the scratch test for each tree and received a rude response from Jay Young. The pictures were taken a day after we received several inches of rain. So I ordered vines (3) one was dead upon arrival. I call them and tell them, they say no problem. Get an email 2 months later, saying they will send me a replacement vine. I look at the invoice and they want to charge me $24 for shipping. SMH! Doesn't make sense! I already paid for shipping for the dead vine! I love Willis Orchard, but sadly too many people don't understand what bare root trees, or saplings are. Their trees are of excellent quality, and unless you have skill and patience, you should always buy at least a 1 inch caliper tree. You can't just dig a hole and throw it in and expect it to survive. Trees need water, fertilizer, and the biggest boost is to sprinkle mycorrhizae on the roots and in the planting hole. A tree should be planted level with its root mass, and never, ever bury above the caliper. Bare root, like any tree will suffer transplant shock after being dig up, and then replanted. Soak your trees roots in a bucket of water for an hour before planting, and water well once planted. If there is no rain in the forecast, make sure to give at least 5 gallons per week of water. Do that, and you won't need to leave such silly reviews! My entire orchard is from Willis, sadly we can't upload images here. oh man, I wish I would've read the reviews before ordering from them. the reviews are accurate!! I have ONE tree out of all of the ones I bought from them(probably 7). I have 17 other trees thriving so I know it's not my personal actions causing these trees to die, I've grown many trees in my area. all Willis orchard trees seem VERY WEAK. they're also unorganized. they've lost or delivered to wrong address several times. even after giving my address in email, and later following up about my tree, they admit they didn't even read the email correctly and didn't see my correct address so they just sent to wherever. they don't care. They've totally stopped responding or attempting to correct any issues. once they get their money, their service ends there. I've already logged complaint with BBB. I hope they close down to stop this poor excuse of gardening. read more

They stated there's only a partial guarantee but no refund-meaning you have to pay shipping to receive a new tree replacement. I ordered two different varieties of almonds, but they never grew. I contacted the company by email and did not receive a response. The second time I did. I was told to take pictures of the trees with the bark scored so I did. The trees were definitely dead. They told me I must of fertilized them and or put them in light miracle potting soil of which I did not. I am a master gardener and know better than that. I was then told that I checked a box at checkout saying that plants ordered in a different zone are not guaranteed, but the plants did not grow and were not subject to my zones winter. I put higher zones plants in a climate-controlled room for the winter. The company website says that they are an ethical company and will do merchandise credit without the shipping, but they did not honor that either. Back in spring of 2020, I ordered two banana plants and two pawpaw plants from Willis. The order arrived promptly, and the plants, all bare root, were well packaged. I should also note that the people with whom I've spoken on the phone have all been cordial and professional. The bananas in the original order had healthy root systems. I planted them right away. The banana plants are thriving. Thank you Willis. My gripe is with the pawpaws. Willis originally shipped me two plants without root systems that they should have known would not survive. Also, they charged me an additional sum for equivalent replacements, and they should not have charged me. The long story follows. As noted above, my issue is with the pawpaws. The original two plants arrived with just taproots and no root system. I phoned Willis and spoke with an arborist who told me that's normal for pawpaws. I planted them immediately and cared for them as instructed. One plant showed brief signs of life in the spring before dying. The other plant never showed signs of life. At the end of the summer I phoned Willis and asked about a replacement. They agreed to honor their guarantee after I sent photos of the dead pawpaws. The person with whom I spoke on the phone told me that they no longer ship pawpaws bare root, and so I would either need to pay significantly more to get the same size plants in pots, or pay a little more to get smaller plants in pots. I opted for the smaller plants in pots that cost only $10 more. Terms of the guarantee also require that I pay shipping. I received the replacement plants last night (25 Nov.). There were two surprises. First, they were bare root. That means that Willis owes me $10. Second, they had well-developed root systems with a significant number of fine roots. That means that, at the very least, the arborist (who told me that pawpaws don't have well-developed root systems) and I had a mis-communication. Also, the person who dug out the original plants or the person who packaged the original plants should have recognized the lack of a root system and should have found healthier plants to ship. This irritates me the most, since my pawpaw grove has been delayed by a year on account of this. (I'm also out $30, including shipping). In any case, the new pawpaws are planted and watered-in. I'm hopeful that they will leaf out in the spring. I'm doubtful that I will order plants from Willis in the future because I cannot be sure that they will ship quality product. read more

Ordered 1 tree 3/7/23. Was told "The website was being converted to 'sold out' when your order came through. We can not fulfill the order this spring." So I waited until November 5th to contact them to find out where my order was. I received a response from "Jay" saying that they would start shipping on December 1st. Actually called to cancel the order on 12/19 to cancel my order. I was told that I had to email to cancel. I emailed and received a response today 12/20 that it was set to ship tomorrow. I told them that I still wanted to cancel it and the response was there is a $10 cancellation fee. Very poor customer service. Stay away from this company. read more

In July of 2021, I placed two orders for trees from Willis Orchard Company and my credit card was charged in full at that time. The first was for 20 bald cypress trees and the second for 10 Pond cypress trees. Tree orders ship in winter or spring and so I requested delivery in March of 2022. Other than my order confirmation, I received no updates about my order from the company, so towards the end of March, I followed up on my order by e-mail and phone (left a voicemail). After a few days or hearing nothing, I called again and spoke to someone who told me that they e-mailed me in February to say that my order for 20 bald cypress trees could not be filled because they never received them. I never received the e-mail, and it was not in my spam folder. They informed me that they could have substituted different size bald cypress trees, but when I didn't respond to their e-mail, they sold them to someone else. I asked about my second order for 10 pond cypress, and they said they'd get those shipped to me ASAP. A week passed and finally I received an e-mail that claimed that they sold the pond cypress trees to someone else because I didn't reply to their e-mail about the bald cypress trees. This company admits to never indicating to me that there would be any issues with my order for 7 months. The only attempt this company claims to have made to reach out to me after 7 months is a single e-mail that I did not receive and was not in my spam folder even though they had my phone number. Even though my order for pond cypress trees was a completely separate order that I paid for, in full, 8 months earlier, rather than going ahead and shipping them to me in March, they sold them to another customer just because they didn't receive a reply to an e-mail, I never received about my other order that had nothing to do with this one. Here is what I suspect: I do not believe that this company ever had the bald cypress trees, or the pond cypress trees. I think that they take these orders well in advance promising spring delivery hoping that customers will forget that they paid for them months earlier. I am suspicious as to whether this is an actual company at all or just an Internet scheme. read more

Blueberries plants are large and healthy. Much larger than other mail order blueberries I have bought. Grape plant was also good. Raspberries died - but this may not have been related to the plant quality - might have been weather or disease pressure. I'm a repeat customer - ordering more blueberries. read more

I did what they said, kept trees in the dark, and frozen. NONE OF THE TREES SURVIVED. I ordered from 5 other tree companies--ALL of their trees lived. I tried to contact them last year to cancel an order when I had family emergency and had to relocate. Charged for order at time n then months later sent me about to ship notice, so I called back to cancel. The lady that always answers the phone said to call back when it actually shipped fedex. I did as instructed and when called her back, she said could not cancel, return or reroute the shipment. Unless I paid 25$. By this time, I had also talked to FedEx who advised I was recipient n could not change the delivery but shipper could. I had at that time started to read all the negative complaints about the company. Fedex delivered the plants to the address where I no longer lived. I could not reroute the pkg to Colorado feet of snow where whole family illness grave w covid19. Fedex pu and returned pkg to seller. That was almost a year ago and no refund and no answer when you call this " company". I will be filing BBB complaint and telling this story to warn others. This is worst company ever. read more

2 Pecan trees (3 to 4 ft.) arrived DEAD! They only had a tap roots and they were totally dead. I ordered a bunch of trees from them and one of them came in dead. I called them and the lady said I needed to wait until the spring because it was just in dormant state. I called during the spring and she asked me to trim it and she reassured me it would grow. Called again in the summer, send her a picture and she confirmed the tree was dead. However, she would only send a replacement if I paid for the shipping again. Giving the fact that I paid for all the shipping when I purchased these trees, I did not feel as I should be paying again. It costs just as much to order something locally. The lady stated that the tree might not have been planted on good ground or maybe it wasn't watered enough. Which I would agree if all the other trees were dead as well. They just lost my business. I was going to order a few more trees, but definitely will not be ordering from them again. Does not stand by their product. I ordered a pawpaw tree early this year. It arrived with a tap root that was mostly broken (just hanging on). Pawpaws grow long taproots and are dang important to the tree. I contacted company and provided photos. They suggested planting it and waiting to see what happens. Five months later the tree has five leaves. I took it out of its pot to plant in the yard (rainy season in Florida is the right time to plant) and the tree has as few of roots as it did when it was planted. Compared to my other pawpaws from a different nursery potted at the same time that have substantial root balls and a long healthy tap root. I emailed company again with photos. "If the tree isn't dead we don't refund" and the guy insults me by saying "I don't know why you dig it up to inspect the roots in the summer time" when in my email it was clearly written that it was in a pot and I was planting it. So clearly they don't read customer emails, they just tell you that they aren't going to make the situation right. Find a different nursery read more

I wish to give zero!!!! Last years almost entire order I received from Willis Orchard was: DEATH TREES......the only living died in June 2017. After multiple communication I RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT in April 2018 when 4 feet of snow without prior notice!!!!!!! - SEVERELY DAMAGED TREE AT THE LOWER PART OF THE TRUNK FROM THE NURSERY, it looked like somebody took ox that made huge cut into the tree (I ordered just one 8 feet apricot as replacement for everything, because I did not have high hopes) AGAIN the tree is DEATH!!!!!!!! as of 6/4/2018. Of note, I have close to 30 beautifully growing fruit trees (from 2017 and 2018 that I bought from 4 other nurseries). NEVER EVER BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!! April 3, 2 weeks after snow has melted I checked my trees and found 80% of trees didn't make it. When I called them they said since I bought the trees in January and they were delivered end of February I was over the one year mark. They would do nothing for me. I spent $615.56 and only 3 trees are alive out of 15! It has only been 1 season and our trees are barely budding here! Not sure how I was supposed to be confident in my assessment of trees livleyhood when there is a foot of snow on the ground. How can they not replace the dead ones?! I will never buy from them again! I recommend you run away from this company. Some of my trees came without limbs also. Not sure if that's normal for them, but it isn't for trees I bought in the past. Please do not use this company. Very pleased with this company.... I ordered a Pakistani Mulberry tree a couple of years ago from Willis and sadly, it never showed signs of life. However, the company stood behind their warranty and replaced it the next year. (I paid shipping) Well, it could have been my fault that it died but they didn't ask any questions... Just for me to send a picture of the scratched bark that showed it had died. I'm happy to say that the replacement Mulberry is doing great and I couldn't be happier! They're a reputable company and I'm so happy with them that I just ordered a couple of fig trees. read more

Ordered 2 trees on 2/22/20 with the agreement they would not ship them until April 1st. Suddenly an email they would be here 3/18/20. Ground frozen and inches of snow and my landscaper not available to plant them until April 2. Called Willis to complain but only got a snow job. Wish I had read all the complaints at Better Business and internet before dealing with Willis Contacted Fedex that I would not accept delivery. Also my Visa company to help with refund. I ordered a Pakistani mulberry 7-8 feet this Spring after freezes were over. When I got it, I followed all directions for planting. I have two other PM trees in my prior house that are thriving. Immediately I noted that the bark was turning multiple colors and called Willis. I was told to check for green under the bark; there was none; I was told to cut off the top of the tree branch and it would live. It did not. I had multiple poor customer service emails telling me to follow their directions. I grow orchids and many other plants and knew this tree was dead when it arrived. I felt stupid and ashamed by their responses to basic questions. Then after taking multiple photos of the tree to show Willis, I was indeed told that the tree had died. Yep. No they give no money back, despite shipping and oversize fees. I was told to order again in the summer for fall/winter delivery and given a credit. Overall, I would never recommend this company, and it appears that my experience is common. All it takes is caring about your product and customers. No sign that either is true. And if I do not receive my shipment and credit, I will update this review with even worse service. read more

I read the reviews and was a little skeptical...I proceeded anyway. I'm glad I did. I purchased three varieties of banana trees and within a week, they were at my doorstep. Packaging was intact (+1 star) and after opening, I noticed the banana tree roots were gel'ed to keep the roots moist (+1 star). They were obviously in shock from the trip and slightly withered (it's expected) but they weren't dead (+1 star). I quickly planted them in pots with rich soil and watered them THOROUGHLY. By the next day, I went to water them again and there was a leaf working it's way out from the center of the plant already (+1 star). Once I find a final spot for my new additions, I will give the pups beneficial fungi, organic compost, azomite minerals, and plenty of water/mulch. Conclusion, I believe everyone should do their research prior to purchase. Many trees are deciduous and will not have leaves during the dormant seasons. So, at first glance, the plant may look dead. BUT, if planted and loved, the plant may surprise you during the warmer months. Keep in mind, during the spring/summer months, your location plays a big role on the plants survival. If someone put you in a box when the temperature is 100+ degrees and ships you for a couple of days, you'd probably die too. Shipping dormant plants (in the off season) is better for them and they have a greater chance of surviving the trip. Fortunately, I live in Florida and Willis Orchard is in Georgia (shorter trip). As for the customer service reviews, I cannot provide my input as I didn't have to deal with them directly. My entire purchase was done online and was convenient (+1 star). I'm extremely happy with this purchase and will definitely order from Willis Orchard in the future...Thank you! read more

I ordered several trees from Wilis Orchard, the majority arrived ok not near the size I paid for. Two, however, arrived broken, I called them I emailed them twice then had to call again. The representative stated they would send replacements out that I was to keep the box as proof. I called in again after two weeks and no shipping notice. I spoke with Carrie, she was very rude told me that this was their busy time that she would get them out. I ordered trees the same day from another company and received better-looking trees more than a week earlier. Ordered a nectarine tree which was the largest they offered 1.75 caliper. Arrived in time for early spring planting. Followed all instructions but it just never showed any signs of life. Checked bark and it was green under neath but again no signs of any greening. Willis told me to be wait -Really it has been 5 months and it is still only a perch for birds to sit on. Not only did they refuse to replace but told AX when they received the dispute that it was my fault. I suggest you find another company to do business with. These guys SUCK!!!!!!!! read more

Really disappointing. I spent over $500 and paid many months in advance, ordering large caliper, 5-6' trees, so they'd be well along already when I planted them. Unfortunately the plants arrived here in Virginia (not SoCal) late in the season, and didn't do well. Half never leafed at all, while the other half struggled and barely made it - definitely not the quality I paid for. In fact, sticks I bought cheap at Walmart are doing better. Getting cooperation from Willis to replace failed stock has been impossible, so I'm giving up. No customer satisfaction here. Definitely do not recommend. read more

Second review of Willis Orchard company. First order was three in one Asian pear tree. I was sent a four in one Asian Pear instead. Ok no big deal planted the tree and it lived. Second order was for a Sweet Treat Pluerry tree. First one they send was just a bad tree wind blown to one side, something that should have never been sent to a customer. It never leafed out, dried out and died. The replacement was a good looking tree but the same thing happened it dried out and died before leafing out. Both tree had water and very good soil. At first i thought it was the rootstock but now i think the tree roots are either cut to short or just in poor health before shipping. I ordered from Willis for the larger size tree to get fruit sooner. I have fifteen other bare root fruit trees that i have planted from other online orchards and all have leafed out and lived, including a Sweet Treat Pluerry which i bought to replace the Willis Orchard trees that keep dying. All bare root trees get water and are planted in very good soil. Something is going on with the roots of the Willis Orchard bare root trees, because those roots are not taking up water to keep the tree alive before bud break. read more
