Mid size local store. Great produce selection. All sorts of Hispanic/Latin foods. My go to for obleas. Employees are always helpful and courteous. Store is always clean. Bad produce. Informed manager. She was polite but I couldn't get a refund without a receipt which doesn't really matter that much, I want them to QC their produce better. Grapes, cherries, mango, cakes, celery, potatoes - all looked fine but when we consumed...omg so bad, tasted like fermenting process had started and something was sprayed on them to keep them looking fresh on the outside. Love this place, especially the produce and the meat department. Great prices on quality tomatoes, avocados, limes, cilantro, and everything you need to make salsa, etc. The guys at the back counter have homemade mole', tasty boudin (from Beaumont - I was skeptical, but it is delicious, and the spicy is crazy hot) sold by the link, and the best chicharrones I've ever tasted, (do NOT tell your cardiologist you had one). read more

Well I was hoping this would not be necessary but here goes..stopped at Willis Grocery Store on our way through Texas on September 30th to grab a few this...spent about 40 minutes or so picking things out...by the time I made it to the register it was right around 5pm on a Friday...date maybe wrong but sure it was the last Friday in September...any way young girl on the register rang up my groceries it came to $59.44...I informed her that I was going to get $20.00 extra cash...she told me that was fine...put my chip card in the reader and punched in my pin...nah denide...I in formed her the card was a new chip card and she informed me the machine was installed that very morning...ok try again she said...put my card back in the reader and hesitantly reentered my pin...this time I did not ask for extra cash just the $59.44...in groceries...approved...took my groceries and went on my way..approved few days passed and as I do I check my transactions online...WHAT THE ...there were 3 separate charges on my account for that day at the Willis Grocery Store...1 for $59.44 and 2 for $79.44...what the heck is this....so I get on the phone and call Willis Grocery and ask for a manager...a man takes the line and says this is Sam how can I help...after explaining what happened and what my bank online statement says he assured me this could not happen...afters he went on and on showing me his college degree I kept telling him my blue collar degree...after making several calls back to Sam...I was assured again this can not happen...so I took a pic of my online statement with my wife's phone and sent it to my phone..I stopped in to Willis Grocery this time showing Sam proof that I was charged by his store 3 times only 1 being correct...this time I suggested nicely that I stopped there quite a bit on my trips through the area and that it was not good for business to handle this matter the college way....this time I ask if there was an employee with a card reader on there pocket or what...oh no that's ridiculous..he told me...we'll to this day...Sam has never resolved the issue, never called me and offered to reimburse me my STOLEN CASH...I don't know what world Sam is living in but if I was lucky enough to be general manager of mom & dad's grocery store and not have any customer service skills. I would at least try to keep my return customers happy..I will never step foot anywhere near Willis Grocery and I would suggest you go to Kroger or HEB just a few miles further...but if you do shop at Willis Grocery...KEEP A CLOSE EYE ON THOSE DEBIT CHARGES...KIND OF MAKES YOU WONDER...JUST SAYING.. . read more

Willis Supermarket is convenient. It happens to be right next to the laundry so I can put my clothing in and go off for a bit of shopping. Prices are about level with Kroger and the market is decidedly Spanish oriented however, they have a decent produce section. I can go in grab what I need, generally just snack foods for the sunday weekly party ( I do most of my main shopping at cheaper stores) but they always have spicy chips in a variety, which is great. The place is always clean and last week when I went it they had a brand new freezer/refrigerated section. They are also super helpful when you ask for change back and mention you're at the laundry they will often give it to you in quarters ( a roll) even though the laundry has a coin machine. All the checkers have been friendly so far. read more
