Taka, who is a manager stylist and unfortunately has moved up to Brisbane, takes great care when snipping away. You're definitely safer off with a manager stylist, which is worth the extra cost as the prices there are rather wallet-friendly. Customer service there is fantastic! It probably has a lot to do with the (Japanese) culture but from the point of entering ("Konichiwa!!") until when they see you off at the door, they're there mindfully doing their job well. Also, they've got promos like "happy hour" where it's 20% off M-F before noon and others that are released through their newsletters, as well as others like friend referrals. The colour touch-up didn't cost me an arm and a leg, though it did cost Gary his hands - they were stained bright blue because he hadn't worn gloves. "I look like a smurf!" Four stars because their website isn't quite up to date as far as their current wine bar menu. The cocktail list has been significantly cut down since ARC opened, so no negroni for me. (I settled for a cosmopolitan and it was delicious.) I walked out of ARC with a handful of "refer a friend" cards. They didn't push them on me, I asked for them. Over time she has selected and trained a team of hairdressers who are highly skilled and have great people skills. These girls and guys know their tools of trade, know their colours, and most importantly know their customers. I went in on Saturday (they squeezed me in a short notice) just to have a tidy up of neck and around my ears before Xmas and my holiday. The tidy-up was done quickly, expertly and happily. God, I love this place - and for this they charged me very very little. In saying this, an actual package of services eg cut and colour is your usual cost of over $100 so don't think that my small cost for a tidy up indicates this place is "cheap as chips". It's not, but you get what you pay for. A very professional cut and colour. A big thumbs up to Lizzie who has been a hard-working, dedicated salon owner who has done all of this with 2 small children. I really admire her work and what she has created. I went into HMDisco with long hair (about shoulder length, kinda 80s Big Hair Vibes - think Bon Jovi/Guns n Roses). I asked for layers, so that I could get more 'action' out of my hair, as it was similar length and becoming difficult for me to work with. I asked for layers / 'bon jovi' vibes. I walked out with my hair above my ears... It's now going to take me 12-18months to grow this back. It's put me in an undesirable position, as I have some big marketing/promotional videos coming up. Worst of all, I walked in loving my hair, wanting to improve it. And, I walked out wanting to put a hat on.
