It is centrally located downtown and shares a decent sized free parking lot with a few other businesses. Inside there are a plethora of small businesses including restaurants, bakeries, a gallery, stores and the Flint Children's Museum and Store. In the back there are plenty of tables and seats to enjoy your meal or snack while there. I was just there to browse and see what they have to offer but unfortunately, I wasn't able to return to try any of the establishments. I do hope to try something on the next go around. On the day that I visited, it was clean, organized and easy to navigate; for the most part it goes around in a circle with only a few businesses e.g. pizza, ice cream place, etc. tucked in a corner. I was highly disappointed and quite underwhelmed by the recent visit to their farmer's market/greenhouse. Bad service (snippy or none at all), lack of product, way overpriced, and in my opinion subpar produce for the money. Expected to be wowed and came away irritated and I thought it was rather regrettable that I even spent anything here. I love to shop locally and support small businesses etc but the produce, selection, service is far superior at the Flint Farmers Market. I wanted so badly to like this little market, but I don't.. sorry, just being honest.. the bananas did not look up to snuff, the lettuce selection and prices were bizarre (I wound up with overpriced romaine which is wilting and has brown spots), and I had to pick through many bruised up apples just to find a few good ones.. Here in Pittsburgh, we have an old church-turned-bar/concert venue called Altar that is located in the Strip District section of the city. Altar does not serve food, but out front during an event, you'll often find a hot dog cart operated by a guy/gal tandem. Sometime last year, I went to Altar for the first time, and needing to stave off hunger pangs, decided to get a frank or 2 before entering Altar. In doing so, I tasted the most daringly different damn dog ever. After chatting with the vendor, I found out where they originated from and located a website later that evening at home. Here I was thinking at first that perhaps the vendors made the dogs themselves or got them from a local butcher. That's how perfect they are. "Serve the curve" for darn sure. Hell, they're way ahead of it. Tie me up with a rope made of these linked franks anyday so I can eat my way out of my bonds like an escape artist/competitive eater hybrid. Then repeat.
